This is mainly due to the Ukrainian counterattacks on the Southern Front, which managed to push the Russians out of 213 km² of territory. Most of these Ukrainian gains were made around Hulijaipole where Russia lost 192 km².
quote:
Hulijaipole direction has long been a problem for Ukraine, with Russians advancing faster here than on any other front. It was likely chosen for the counterattack because Ukraine was worried about a further deterioration of the situation on the whole Southern Frontline.
quote:
It's highly likely that instead of an operational breakthrough, the Ukrainian goal in the direction was the re-establishment of defensive lines, disruption of Russian tempo and forcing Russia to commit further reinforcements to stop the Ukrainian counterattack.

Depending on rotation terms, this should improve effectivness and morale. Overdue, but manpower constraints may have delayed implementation.

Hungarians want to kick Viktor Orban out of power. Is he planning a coup to stop them?
Very good article from a former member of the Hungarian Parliament.
quote:
That [Orban] seems to be preparing a coup is increasingly understood in Budapest and in the region. He has already set the stage, by conjuring up an imagined threat from Ukraine. On February 7, he stated that “Ukraine is our enemy”. Then this week, as the gap in the polls between his party and the new Tisza party widened, he went further, ordering the army to key energy infrastructure facilities. It seems that Orbán could be intending to blame Ukraine for some form of incident, despite zero evidence for such an outrageous claim.
quote:
The Fidesz propaganda machine can magnify any incident, including a manufactured one, into a national trauma within a few hours. In such a situation, the danger of them staging or deliberately exploiting a “security crisis” before the April elections is very real, whether in Transcarpathia or somewhere along the Hungarian-Ukrainian border.
quote:
Orbán is also converting every EU decision into a backdrop for his own re-election campaign. Some in the EU still talk about his vetoes as if they were just bargaining chips: he will go along for a little more money or a few favours. The picture is darker than that. Each Orbán veto over the EU serves three purposes at once:
It sends a message to his core voters that he “defends Hungary against Europe”; It maintains a phony “war or peace” narrative, smearing the opposition as somehow ”favouring war.” And it placates Moscow and Washington by making Orbán the single person who can paralyse the decisions of a 27-member union.
For Putin, every Hungarian veto in Brussels is a treasure, because it buys him time, divides the EU, and sends the message that there is someone within Europe who is working to undermine European defence. For Trump, Orbán is both a model and a wedge: a model for how to turn an EU member state into a one-party state, and a wedge to divide the EU on sanctions, defence, and the rule of law. The Hungarian prime minister is also living proof that it’s possible to hollow out a democracy from within while maintaining the barest trappings of elections.
Very good article from a former member of the Hungarian Parliament.

Your point? The grammar is correct. Or is this just another or your juvenile drive-by attempts to split hair?

Each battery consists of 6 / 8 units. Italy has 60/70 stored, plus nearly 200 that it sold to Belgium. It's shameful that they've taken so long and in such a scant number.
Italy's less than lukewarm support for Ukraine is mainly due to the successful Russian efforts to influence Matteo Salvini, the Italian Vice-President of the Council of Ministers. This will not end well for Salvini as even he can now see he picked the wrong horse. So small cracks are showing.

Speaking of long range, it seems eight Russian regions may join the party tonight.

Very nice. Reported specs list up to 200 km range and a 150 kg warhead. At that combination it seems to be a substitute for the HIMARS. But rebalancing the fuel - warhead weight ratio may extend range. Besides, these are the published specs, subject to a great deal of later, after-action adjustment.

Putin doesn’t want to end the war.’”

Never before made public until today, the Russians attacked the train carrying US General Ben Hodges, roof exploding (sic). This was amid a nationwide Russian sabotage operation that attacked trains in 5 locations in the Netherlands [the same day].
European governments are doing everything to keep these growing attacks quiet because admitting that they're happening means they'd need to respond, and Russians have Carte Blanche.
quote:
Grok: The 5 railroad hits Ben Hodges described occurred June 24, 2025, during the NATO summit in The Hague: fires damaged ~30 cables, disrupting Amsterdam-Schiphol-Utrecht trains. Dutch officials probed possible sabotage (could be activists or state actor). Hodges was aboard one affected train; he said police confirmed five simultaneous strikes, not vandalism. No equivalent 2026 event reported. The video is Hodges speaking at a recent event (gesturing "five"), no train or explosion shown.
