re: Underrated Movie Villains

I always thought Toby Stephens was underrated as a Bond Villain. He was just over the top enough and just serious enough for me to enjoy it. Underrated Bond Movie IMO as well. Fantastic opening scene. Maggie Smith's son. Halle Berry, Rosamund Pike, Rick Yune etc. Great mix of a Connery and Moore Bond film feel.

Please be good. The moves are straight up fire and true to the game. Let's hope the narrative is decent. Hours and days of my life spent at the arcades on this one. This could be fun.

It basically stalled her career. She was going to write and direct Rogue Squadron, but that got canned after WW84
Her fault entirely for not staying in her lane(continuing with the traffic analogies). she wanted to course correct to the feel of the tv show (no sword- too violent) and practical stunts that looked like wire work from the 70's. Convoluted script. The road to hell as they say... (last one).

I am probably as big of a Snyderverse supporter on here as anyone. I did not make it through '84. Complete dreck.
Patty Jenkins not only dropped the ball on WW 84, she kicked it onto the Interstate and it got squashed by an 18 wheeler. Damn shame. I like Adria Arjona- but not for Wonder Woman. Hoping they'll go unkown or at least very little known.

Dbl post. I will add that I don't think she's a great actress. She seems to have a limited range but seems serviceable. I thought she did a decent job in Challengers and Dune. But she's got a model body.

re: Where in New Orleans should our newly single, 35 y/o, female friend live?

If she wants a city vibe her best bet is the Warehouse District. To the NY eye it most resembles a Southern style Soho. Lots of bars, galleries, and single life. If she wants a more relaxed feel but still be close to the action Uptown on the Magazine St. corridor would be her best bet. Being around Lafayette Square is kind of a perfect niche between the Quarter and Uptown. She should spend 6 months or a year there to get a feel of the city before deciding about other areas. I say this because of the proximity to nightlife and her job. I'm also assuming she may not want to drive everyday or even own a car. But if she does other areas could be more amenable.

He and SEK's autistic typing slap fests with (insert name here) on this board are exhausting and tiresome. But with internet age of "I will incessantly be heard" I suppose that's become the norm. .

I'm going to be controversial here and just talk about the trailers that I have seen and the movie itself. I wasn't too hyped about the "rebel" drunk Supergirl that has previously been shown. This trailer actually has me a little interested in this film. It hit some emotional notes with her looking for a place in the world. And being a dog lover, the scene of her trying to save the one thing that she loves hit a little home as I've been there.. That and the possibility of Mamoa being a fun ride as Lobo has me feeling a little more excited for the possibility it may be a good film. We shall see.

I agree. The ownership at the time completely panicked with MOS box office. That number wasn't even that bad.
WB has no one to blame except themselves. The directive to expand the MOS sequel to bring in the Justice League was profit driven. The directive to cut the theatrical version was also very badly done as the Ultimate Edition was a much more solid film in terms of story and flow. The debacle of Joss Whedon's Justice League was entirely the studio's doing.
If you take the DC arc of MOS, BvS Ultimate Edition, Wonder Woman, Zack Snyder's Justice League, and Aquaman it's a decent offering that was an alternative to Marvel that I found satisfying even though I have issues with a few of Snyder's decisions.

When I was bartending in Manhattan in the 90s and 00's my favorite was always the young guys and girls from Brooklyn and the burbs ordering a glass of White Cinderella for White Zinfandel. Still cracks me up and happened more than you would think.

His Christopher Walken story from The Rundown set is pretty damn funny.
The "steam" part of the conversion was definitely Walken hitting on him. I was at an Off Broadway play with a guy friend of mine in the mid 2000's and Walken was across the room at intermission and sent his assistant over to ask my friend if he would like to join Mr. Walken for drinks after the show. Walken smiled and waved as the assistant was talking to us. My friend declined and we were just kind of shocked and laughing at the brazenness of it all. True story.

Gena Rowlands and the kid are what sell this movie. That and the gritty realism of NYC at the time and the cinematography. Gena Rowlands is a badass bitch without sacrificing being a woman. The way she casually shoots the guy in the elevator while leaving the apartment in the end is what I remember the most when I watched this as a kid. She was great in it. As much as I like Sharon Stone I couldn't get through the remake. It stunk.
ETA: Also when watching this as a kid it threw me to see Buck Henry as a serious actor(the father of the kid) because I had only seen him on Saturday Night Live.

I haven't had Godfathers since LSU back in the late 80s/early 90's.

Watched Wild Card last night and it was very enjoyable. It was a remake of Heat with Burt Reynolds and Peter MacNicol(who was hilarious in the original and still remains a great actor). Also filmed partly in New Orleans but I couldn't see it by the setting.
Small roles by Jason Alexander, Anne Heche, and Stanley Tucci with Milo Ventimiglia as the main douche. I think Statham does the best hand to hand action in the industry. His moves are artful and seem to land swiftly and with impact. On to the next missed one.

New Hardees now open in Mandeville at Love's Truck Stop

Friend of mine works in corporate for Love's Truckstop and says they just opened a new location in Mandeville off the newest Interstate exit. Hardees and Godfathers Pizza I think. The only time I ever had Hardees was for an LSU/Miss State game 10 or 12 years ago in Columbus MS. Had the porkchop and the chicken fried steak biscuits for breakfast if I remember correctly and they were damn good. Never had the burgers or regular menu though and they are the same company as Carl's Jr I think. I think its an east/west of the Mississippi thing like the Hellman's/Best Foods arrangement. Might have to try it out on my next visit. I don't recall the Northshore ever having a Hardees.
That leaves my never tried fast food list at
In n out
Shake Shack
Carl's Jr./ Hardees
Culver's
Jack in the Box
Steak n Shake
Wendy's and Sonic used to be favorite go to but in the last 5 years they have both significantly dropped in flavor and quality IMO. A good fast food burger is a guilty pleasure for me. 5 Guys (although no drive through) remains my go to fix when I have a quick craving.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. Melissa McCarthy cracked me the frick up with the physical comedy and her delivery and Statham did a great job as always.

And the Expendables. I've been watching all the Statham movies I've missed over the years. Just watched Killer Elite last night as a matter of fact. Statham is a great action guy.
re: What are trailer parks like IRL?

When I was in high school in the 80's, my father served as foreman for the Grand Jury in our parish. The only thing in life he ever forbade me to do was live in a trailer or in a trailer park because of the amount of crime and the situations he witnessed that came before the grand jury
