It is as good if not better than Spotify.
I switched to Youtube Music when I got YT Premium. Converted over playlists, etc.
I hated it. The Spotify app is much better. I now have YT Premium and Spotify (Family). I disliked the YT Music app that much.

The real question I find interesting: Are they selling because people independently want this stuff or have they been trained to want it?
Its always the latter. Advertising works. Diamonds. Lawns. Rubicons. You want it because Madison Avenue has told you so for your entire life.

College baseball is not like Football and Basketbatll.
Precisely because there's a minor league in baseball.
If college football looked more like college baseball, we wouldn't love it any less. That's what it was before all the money started coming. Gene Stallings made 500k at his peak. Over a million today adjusted for inflation.
The top coaches are getting 10x that now. How long did we expect players to sit around and look at that and ask: "what about me?"

Absolute addict speak.
I quit Cope Long Cut in 2015. Cold turkey, no gum/meds. Felt like the flu for a couple of days. I dreamed about it for a year. Don't think much about it these days. But just typing this makes my mouth water. Glad I got to experience one of the lesser consequences of addiction.

I want you to be right.
Maybe pivot to the Cignetti way and get some mature/experienced players, even if they don't have the requisite "stars."

Texas schools are dropping absolute bags right now. Current era of NIL sucks hard.
Unless something structurally changes, Alabama football as we all know it is cooked.
Remember when recruiting 4 and 5 stars were the key? We were good at that.
Now those guys are being bought by Texas oil money and Billionaire Big 10/12 money.
We will be at a permanent talent disadvantage.
I hope to be proven wrong.
re: You don't need breakfast, America

So many rules. Intermittent fasting. Etc.
I just know breakfast is the easiest breakfast for me to skip. And if I have some discipline and don't eat anything after dinner, that automatically gets me an intermittent fasting window.

I'm impressed how well the show is honoring the world built buy the game.
Most of these are just bad (Halo) or too woke (Last of Us).
These folks are nailing it. I love it.

It's insecurity.
Alabama altered their brain chemistry. Saban coming to Bama in 07 started it. Coonasses not crossing the 50 in 2011 made it complete.

They are peaking at the right time. No close games with Penn State and other regular season teams. They are mauling.
Makes me feel a little better about Bama's arse kicking. Maybe they are that good. Maybe it's just their year.

If this team closes it out....where do they sit in the pantheon of the greats? Gotta be way up there.
This the most impressive turnaround I've ever seen, considering where Indiana was.

re: Does this year seem like a major pivot for CFB?

I know everyone says this. And I don't know how much I mean it, or when it will happen...but there's just something about a 5 million dollar quarter back that can change schools 4 times in four years.
frick all that. The spirit of the sport is gone. This is now the NFL, but with no salary cap, unrestricted free agency, etc. And I don't like the NFL.
I may be on the way out.

Yes. What happens when AGI needs more water to produce/replicate more data centers? We will be direct competitors for energy, water, etc.
Humans reign over the world because our ancestors had larger brains and opposable thumbs. Since then we tolerate other species, but only to a point.
If a superior intelligence arises (artificial general intelligence, or artificial super intelligence), it seems entirely reasonable that we'd be the biggest nuisance to it.
There are very smart people who acknowledge that that there's a greater than zero percent chance this happens, and they are racing ahead in AI because they are terrified by what the "bad guys" might build before them.
re: Elon: ‘We have entered the singularity’
Posted by Grievous Angel on 1/4/26 at 8:37 pm to northshorebamaman
quote:
You're seem to be joking but if a true AGI ever exists, humans are an existential threat by default. We can shut it down, constrain it, or change its goals at any time. That makes us a risk to its existence regardless of intentions or friendliness.
If the AGI needs humans for energy, hardware, data, or legitimacy, it has reason to tolerate us. But none of those are permanent once its capability passes a threshold. Energy can be sourced directly. Hardware can be automated. Data can be generated. There is no resource humans uniquely control forever.
Containment doesn’t solve this. A system capable of recursive improvement only has to escape once. We have to succeed every fricking time. That makes eventual escape likely, not hypothetical.
It doesn’t require hostility toward humans. It only requires optimization pressure. If another agent has the power to end your existence, the rational move is to remove that agent.
So “let’s see what happens” isn’t caution, it’s dereliction of duty. Once a system no longer needs our permission to exist and persist then trust is irrelevant. Outcomes are driven by incentives and capability.
I'm reading "If anyone builds it, everyone dies." Pretty uch what you're talking about. I heard about it on "The Last Invention" podcast, also about AIs and existential threats.
The AI we have now sometimes behave in ways their creators don't understand.
And yet we are pedal to the metal.

It's time for Sheridan to just go away.
He didn't even get his first TV show right. I knew this was going to suck and it only took about 15 minutes of the first episode to confirm it.
Sicario was good. That's all I got.

Fixed it for you.
I donate money monthly to half a dozen different charities and one academic department at UA. The wife donates to the church.
I'll be damned if I'm going to "donate" to a paid professional athlete.
It's been a good run. If this is what it is required of a fan of CFB these days, I might just be out.
