I didn't see these congratulatory threads when LSU took care of business against Louisville the other day

That should tell you something.
Hook is far too shiny but given the subject matter I'll allow it.
Let us not forget the great "arse chewing" of 2016.

re: Butch is a poor mans Mark Richt

Posted by Homespun on 11/21/16 at 4:47 pm to
Mark Richt won 10 games in a season 9 times in the SEC. Butch? Not once.

Mark Richt won the SEC East five times. Butch? Not once.

Mark Richt won the SEC twice. Butch? Not once.

Butch doesn't belong in the same sentence as Richt, poor man version or not.

They need an overhang for shade in the worst way. I was there in 2012 for the duper regionals when the gators hosted Mississippi state. All 3 games were noon first pitch and it was mid 90's the metal bleachers were so dang hot

I was there for those games as well. Great series, by the way. And, yes, they were as hot as any game I've been to at McKethan. Just brutal.

As another poster mentioned, upgrades are coming. How extensive is the question. It really needs a lot of work.
Holy shite. This is so well written I am actually able to hear your voice and accent while reading it. Well done!

re: Current SEC win streaks

Oh, I'll see my way out. I thought this thread was about a different kind of streak, like the 11 in a row UF has over UT.
There was about a two or three day period where I was somewhat hopeful, but after that all signs were pointing to UGA. Huge for y'all's class. Congrats.
Definitely not Zook. Gotta be Sly Croom followed by Dooley.

He did more with Florida's offense than Mac has (without Greir)

The difference is that he had FOUR Olineman playing last year that are now on NFL rosters and a RB in Matt Jones who is putting up awesome numbers for the Redskins. The Oline at UF this year is the worst it's been in decades (not an exaggeration).

That said, I actually think Roper was the best OC that Muschamp hired while at UF.
Well, that's mostly true. However, he recruited some great talent on offense. He just never recruited wisely from a total offensive standpoint, always leaving gaping holes. On defense he recruited the full package.

Interesting history lesson. Just excited to see someone with emphasis on recruiting for a change.

I can understand that. No one can question his work ethic on the recruiting trail. The guy puts everything he has into his job.
I think Roper was the best OC of the three he chose to hire. Roper's a damn good coach.

For starters, ray tanner won't force Charlie weis on him.

A lot of USC fans throwing this myth out there to make themselves feel better about this hire. Only problem is that Foley did NOT force Muschamp to hire Weis. Weis was lined up to go to Texas with Muschamp/Brown until Muschamp got the job at UF. Muschamp chose Weis and was responsible for that hire.

Until we know for sure whether he resigned let's all just sit around and watch him blow leaves.

Just like they did with Josh Harvey Clemmons, Marcus Stroud, and Fred Gibson

Each one of those still pisses me off. lol.
UF did it in 1996.

UT: 35-29
LSU: 56-13
Auburn: 51-10
UGA: 47-7
UA (SECCG): 45-30
Ah, okay. Didn't realize it was that beneficial to be the first. Thanks for the info.

UGA's trump card is the financial paperwork. They will have unlimited contact during the dead period.

True, but can't Eason sign that paperwork with more than one school? Seems I remember someone else doing that last year. Anyone knowledgeable about the financial paperwork want to weigh in on that?

re: Question for Florida fans

I don't think he can either. I'm interested also to see how effective a recruiter he is a USCe. We hear how great he is at recruiting, but let's look at the places he's recruiting recently: UF, Texas, LSU, Auburn. These schools have ALL recruited well regardless who in the hell is coach, so is he a great recruiter or is it the schools? Maybe some of both?

I think in general he just isn't a good CEO type. Most people in the world aren't, though. I just don't think he's capable of putting the whole package together. Guy has a gigantic ego which seems to keep him from making changes needed to succeed. He just keeps trying to bash the square peg into the round hole b/c that's "his way" goddammit and it's gonna work...
Very few defenses in the country play with "mostly 5 stars". I'm not doing the research on it, but it might be two programs in the country that have 6 five stars or more on their starting D.

I certainly agree that Muschamp did a great job assembling talent, but he was terrible at managing an entire program. He left a lot of talent, sure. But he left gaping voids in RB, LB, OL and QB depth.

I actually don't dislike Boom. I don't particularly like him either but I don't dislike him. I recognize the guy tried his hardest at UF and it just wasn't good enough.

quote:

You can't tell me that all of the players on UF's defense were 5 stars out of high school.

You're way off. Of course all the D's players weren't five starts (no team's is), but you're vastly underrating the talent on that side of the ball.

CeCe Jefferson 5 star
Jon Bullard 5 star
VHIII 5 star
Jalen Tabor 5 star
Alex McCalister 4 star
Antonio Morrison 4 star
Keanu Neal 4 star
Brian Poole 4 star
Marcus Maye 4 star
Quincy Wilson 4 star
Nick Washington 4 star
Taven Bryan 4 star
Khairi Clark 4 star
Duke Dawson 4 star

There are also a few of three stars with Jarrad Davis being one of them. Despite his ranking he is one of the best players on an immensely talented D.
My guess is that he stays until Bama's last game. Anyone have an example of a coordinator leaving a school for another before such an important game(s)? I'm not saying there haven't been cases...I just can't think of any. I'm not talking about a coordinator leaving prior to some shite bowl game.

Mullen stayed on as UF's OC through our NC run in 2008 despite being hired by Miss State. Tom Herman was hired by Houston in mid December but stayed on as OC for OSU last year. Mac to CSU, etc. I'm sure there are others. This will be interesting to see what Smart does, but I bet he stays until Bama's last game.
Anyone know when this in-home was set with Miles and Cameron? Seems strange that he'd be pissed about UF going after another QB if he's have in-home visits and is still planning to take an OV to FSU (IIRC). Can't blame UF coaches for keeping options open if he's doing that.
Interesting. Thanks. Recruiting is never dull.
quote:

He's not unhappy with Eason visiting.

You'd never know that based on the quotes in OP's link. Seems unhappy to me. You got other info?

Exactly. No laws or NCAA rules were broken.
Not sure what you're problem is, starting two UF troll threads. Oh wait, yes I do. It's probably the 9 game streak Florida has over Arkansas, with your last (and only) win against UF coming 33 years ago.
