Repole spent the entire offseason calling out Birmingham’s attendance. All the other markets aside from St Louis have been awful.

Bham has a great showing but unfortunately him running off Holtz has made this team dogshit and people are going to stop showing up.
I’m ok with this. I have a policy of not trashing current players while they’re on the team but Hannah just never had “it”. He seemed like a guy who was the best athlete in high school who didn’t know what to do when he could no longer out athlete everyone.

Even with Freshmen you usually see something that flashes and there just wasn’t much there. Even early on I was like “ok Allen is like a 9, Jemison is a 6.5, and Hannah is a 4” and then he lost all his minutes and figured we were headed this direction.

Now one from Allen and we are cooking with jet fuel.

I’m 85% sure Allen will be back. Only thing that would make him not is if some team promises his agent they’ll pick him fairly high.

He isn’t being mocked in a range that would make him go currently but he also hasn’t done the combine or private workouts yet so we’ll see but the likelihood is we’ll still have our sweet prince one more year.

London Jemison has instagrammed his intent to return next year

Did his mom instagram it?
Have you tried Happy Kwanza? The board loves inclusion
Yeah I mean objectively it’s not really a hot take. We have a brand new QB, a piss poor run game from last year, several question marks on the o line, 2 new starters at receiver.

The defense SHOULD be good, but it’s been known to have a game or 2 where it all goes to pot.

This will be a very interesting year. We have a bunch of new players but they are all “DeBoer’s guys” now so we really need to win but I could understand why people think we won’t.
Which I’m good with honestly. If they want to go get a bunch of money as freshmen and then come here a year or 2 later more developed I’m cool with that.

What I THINK is happening in a lot of these instances though is this: Out of high school Oats and Murphy are telling kids “We can give you say…200k in rev share. But we also are the most followed athletics department on all of social media and the biggest brand in college sports. We are the pro team of our state. So you CAN make up to a million and we’ll develop you and you’ll play fun and winning basketball”

Then some other school comes in and says “we’ll give you a million guaranteed that our billionaire booster made from sex trafficking”.

Then the kid gets to that school and that “guaranteed” money still ends up being them doing random NiL things or it being a struggle to collect

I don't see Allen being a Oats type pg

Oats said during a press conference “we’ve had to play Amari out of position. He’s really a point guard and we’ve had to play him at forward because of injuries and we have better depth at guard”

If Amari comes back he will be playing the point a lot. You can tell by the recruits and transfers we’re bringing in.
Self important bullshite finds a new threshold every day.
This is true, but there’s also just a lot more transfers now. Like if Sears or Nelson were put in a time machine and hit the portal today they would both be significantly lower.
NCAA be like: “First we need to know if you’re going to Alabama before we grant you more eligibility”

Gross. I’d rather the sport die

Install a $10 NIL fee to every football ticket sold. That’s 100,000 x 10….which is $1M a home game x 7 home games which is $7M a year extra

This would be fine. Also Wisconsin sells an NiL beer at its games. $2 from every purchase goes directly to NiL. That would be a solid idea.

Well he’s got some problems because several markets are drawing like absolute shite and they aren’t getting the tv ratings the Stallions get at all. The UFL needs Birmingham to be strong.

Just from reading the tea leaves it sounds like the money being thrown around this offseason has ticked up considerably from just the last few years. I can see a scenario where our basketball NIL scheme is designed to tick up with "inflation", but if they presume a year over year increase of 5-10% and one year it shoots up 25-30%, which is going to leave us totally fricked.

Have to assume this will end at some point. Are rich people really going to keep funding college sports to this level? Eventually they’ll get tired to throwing millions down the toilet you’d think.

We were all 19-20 years old at some point. Like you wouldn't do the same going for life changing money.

They’re also getting life changing money at Alabama and I guess that’s where the frustration sets in.

If you’re Aiden Sherrell and this staff brought you in, developed you, you’ve bonded with teammates and community. You were paid NiL for 2 years and let’s say Alabama is offering you a Million dollars guaranteed plus hopefully additional legit NiL opportunities vs some other school offering you 1.5 million guaranteed

Number 1, that million is going to spend a lot better in Alabama than a million will spend a lot of other places and 2 at a certain point you should already be set for life. I can say with all sincerity that loyalty would matter to me if the dollar figures were close.
