re: Eagles are last in passing defense; 3-5 at home
Posted by Papa00Tiger on 12/30/13 at 9:23 pm to Sevendust912
Sevendust I think you are not giving the Saints front seven enough credit. While I do believe that the LBs of the Saints are the weakest of the positions on defense I definitely think the D-line is strong especially in pass rush this year. That being said I believe the running game of the Eagles is far greater than the saints, which is certainly a major concern. I don't believe the saints have faced an uptempo offense like the eagles all year, so I'm not sure our defense will be ready, however I also think that the eagles didn't face a lot of successful pass heavy offenses this year and they have a questionable secondary. I expect a shootout type game and I hope my team, the Saints, come out on top...I won't put my money on it though.

I apologize for the banana's. Someone put that in because they thought it was funny. I'm definitely not expecting a lot from this game either. I certainly hope the saints come away with a win and I do believe they are capable, however their performance on the road this season has left me with little confidence that they can get the job done. Not to mention I fully expect the Eagles to pull all the rabbits out of their hat for the game and play us very hard. I think most importantly we need to not turn the ball over. The Eagles secondary certainly has weaknesses that Drew can expose if he doesn't throw picks, which he has a reputation for on the road.

Yeah they played well on the road against the panthers despite the loss. Hope we win!

Who give a flying fuk!!!! Last time I checked we are in the playoffs and headed to Philly! The season isn't over until it's over. We have been spoiled worrying about stats and records too much. How about winning a road game in the playoffs. That would be a first.

Here's a stat for you:
Saints: 0-5 away playoff games.
Throw everything else in the trash.

This season still isn't over. Why is this being discussed? Not saying I'm confident saints will beat the eagles. Actually I think the saints are going to get smashed because they can't win a road game to save their lives, but regardless the season isn't over. Where is the excitement of the playoffs? Eagles fans don't seem to lack it.

I've got cable, but at the espn website they don't list ABC, CBS, or ESPN as covering the game unless you pay for gameplan. I just checked lsusports.net though. Says it's on SEC network under espn

LSU vs MSU coverage?

Is it just me or do we not get to see LSU on TV anymore unless we spend loads of money? Maybe I'm blindsighted because I used to attend all the games, therefore I'm not used to missing an LSU game.

we wanted to play conservative...well this is what happens when you play conservative. Do you feel safe?

We put in Austin Ross with an ERA above 5 and we are playing Texas. What do you expect? Give Texas some credit. They didn't make it here without having some playmakers. I'm just hoping our offense improves against jungle man.

hahahahaha. Perhaps Ross will save us.
was that a joke?
We just need to step it up on offense. Could be a little difficult against Jungle man.

Anybody that thinks Ranaudo should pitch tonight flat out doesn't know baseball.
I've been reading these articles going back and forth and to tell you the truth there are pros and cons to both. We either play Ranaudo tonight or tomorrow. In my opinion another day of rest won't make that much of a difference. I would rather see us go for the kill tonight, but with either scenario (1.Ross tonight, 2.Ranaudo tonight) if we see two more games my guess is we would see Ross and Ranaudo. The problem I have with not going for the kill tonight is that Texas will have a lot of momentum for game 3 and we'll be on our heals with a lot of pressure on Ranuado's shoulders. If we play Ranaudo tonight then he may be a little hot, but he should feel less weight on his shoulders knowing that we have some cushion. He had cushion when he played against arkansas on Friday and he kicked their a$$. That being said, it isn't like playing Ross is the apocolypse. If we don't play better offense to start the game tonight as oppossed to last night, then we will be playing game 3 regardless of our pitcher for game 2.

Ask yourself this question....how many calendar days will he have gone without pitching? He pitched Friday. He was off Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. If he pitches Tuesday, that is 3 days rest, those 3 days being Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
Ask yourself this question...He slept on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night.
Friday+Saturday+Sunday+Monday=4 days of rest
LOL-Okay...I'll stop being a jacka$$

Thanks.
It would be interesting to see the shortest period of time he has gone without pitching during the season and how well he did in that particular scenario. Then this period of time can be compared to the 96 hours he would have gone without pitching if he were play game two of this college championship series and that would give us a more accurate idea of whether he was ready or not.

Perhaps you baseball fanatics can enlighten me. Apparently Ranuado would be starting on only 3 days rest if he were to play tonight, which he isn't. It is my understanding that this is 3 days baseball rest (unclear). By my calculation I estimate 4 days rest: We played last Friday against the Razorphags and Ranuado left the game @ around 5:30pm. Seeing that Game 2 of this college championship series won't start until 6:00pm the following tuesday that would be four (4) twenty-four (24) hour periods from Friday's game. Why is this not 4 days rest? I plead ignorant...please clarify.

That doesn't make any sense. Then again, Rummel was always known for offering a stellar education.

I wasn't implying we would win three games. We would sweep them in 2 games. I would have to be an idiot to think that we would win three games in a best two of three series, and I don't think that LSU gives diplomas to idiots(then again we are talking about louisiana here). However, I wasn't aware that Ross got the thumbs up, which makes this blog irrelevent.

I don't think starting Ross is a very good idea. We shouldn't be conservative with the pitching selection in game 2. If Texas rallies to win then the pressure is on in game 3 no matter which pitcher we use.
Anthony Ranuado
Posted by Papa00Tiger on 6/23/09 at 10:34 am
If Ranuado plays anything like he did last game against Arkansas then we'll sweep this series. Of course I feel the probability of this is relatively low considering this would be two excellent performances in a row. Your thoughts?
Hats off to Texas and LSU alike for a classic game last night. I'm much more of a football fanatic rather than baseball, but I must say that the game last night was certainly one of the best college championship series games I've seen.
PS - what is the main texas athletics message board and where is it located?
