Moving a Trailer

Posted by CalcuttaTigah on 1/17/26 at 9:16 am
I have an elderly family member in East Texas I need to move a sizeable travel trailer for to a different property of theirs about 1 hour away. It hasn’t been moved in a few years and I don’t trust axles/tires on highway.

Never had to do before. Besides getting a spare, what do I need to be worried about? Bearings, brakes, brake lights? Would it be easier to pay a service to move on a flatbed? I imagine that will be cost prohibitive but no idea what that might cost.

Think about it this way. Our floor is the same as this season considering we didn’t have an offense last year.
This year and that year were similar in that we leaned on elite defenses but you knew it was coming in the sense that defenses can only take you so far. That championship game hurt and left some scar tissue.

This is why everyone knew to immediately call CBK out on his bullshite when the offense started sputtering this year and he talked about playing to your strengths. Been there, done that dude. You are getting paid millions, don’t talk down to us fans when we’ve already seen how this is gonna play out.
I was in same situation as you (lived off 18th) and moved to Sugar Land. I work on west side and wife in Med Center area so we thought about Spring Branch but landed on moving out to the suburbs and used our equity for renovating an older but larger home in a nice neighborhood. We had 1 kid at time but writing was on the wall for #2 and we quickly ended up with #3.

Money aside, I don’t regret it but pretty boring and my commute sucks.

Maybe I missed but are you doing 529? We are stuffing a good bit each month there instead of buying more house. I think future me will thank current me when I’m not paying for their colleges out of pocket in 15-18 years.
I have 3 kids, my oldest having just turned 5. I pay $4k/month in daycare and will get a break starting in September. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to have a decent career so we are super lucky.

This is a big reason why people delay and say they can’t afford kids.
They are taking the Dominoes pizza approach for rebuilding their brand image and admitting their product is shite. The hard part will be fixing it.

In the case of the pizza company, they fixed things or at least put things in place to address the issues BEFORE openly calling out their faults. Hopefully CBS was smart enough to do the same.
Absolute trash if you ask me. Pre and post PE.
Almost right. The illusion is that is voluntary but in reality we rely on a robust and enforceable legal system that people can depend on and serves a framework to build our businesses and lives around. Business laws, labor laws, employment laws, tax laws, traffic laws, etc that is enforced…

In the US, we inherited this from Britain and it’s served us really well. That said, we are at a very dangerous point where it’s value is diminishing and it’s no longer serving that purpose.
Is this same thing as Ice House or have they rebranded?
I actually shared this listing with my wife a couple weeks ago. I think it’s priced right to get plenty of looks. Market just kind of slow I suspect.

I used to have an Apple Watch and I switched to an Garmin after a couple years. I hear you but then you gotta remember to always have a charger around. And to those that say they just charge it when they sleep like their phone, you sort of miss the point of having the functionality. I just simply don’t have time to plan my day around my watch battery. One less thing to have to plan/think about. I just charge my garmin once a week or so. I do miss the Apple Pay functionality when running or if I forget my wallet though.

Battery is laughable compared to Garmin..
Imagine being at that event trying to have a convo with her lol. No man or woman can resist just a quick look at during the chat.
This is true. My old employer was F500 whose DNA is engineering based and a lot of back office engineering done in India. The best climb the ranks there locally and then the top minds of that crop make jump over to US. The best of those move into leadership in the US office and then hire a lot of Indians locally. The HR leader needs to understand this talent strategy and pipeline and therefore is oftentimes Indian as well to facilitate this process.

The reality is most of those getting hired on are smart, hardworking and good people (plenty of bad apples too, just like US population) that come from a different culture and country. The reality also is that it’s taking away from the dwindling employment opportunities in the US.

It is a near term cost play for the company. Long term, I think it stifles innovation and execution.
The US companies have a duty to maximize profits for shareholders and they don’t care how it comes so long as it’s sustainable enough to last until the next quarter’s earnings release.
It’s often times value destructive and dependent on timing but those guys don’t survive long. To say it should be illegal is a stretch….what exactly should be illegal? Owning a company?
I basically gave it up and still feel like shite running on limited sleep all the time with a young and busy family. So I don’t need to pile on top.

I do look back on those nights fondly though, lots of good laughs and memories.
Why don’t you start by asking if you can buy one of his cattle when they’re ready for market?
