re: Which WC team would you most like to beat

My dream scenario would be to
1) Beat England in the group stages, and be one of the teams that contributes to the English press/culture exploding a classic display of self-loathing.
2) Play and defeat France in the 2nd round (rationale: more people in the US become interested in this match because we're such a Francophobic nation)
3) The bandwagon stays strong as we beat Italy; somehow Danielle De Rossi gets his fricking face busted open.
4) Beat Germany in the semis.
5) Beat Brazil in the final

I think it comes down more to
winning a trophies and having international star power with players at top 4 domestic clubs.

I think we get out of the group stage. Any victory following that would be a nice surprise. We're still minnows compared to Germany, Italy, Spain, England, Netherlands, etc.

depending on who France draws for the playoffs, I wouldnt be surprised if they fail to qualify. Not too far-fetched to think we could be a (1) seed.

no. the ongoing saga between club and country in regards to player health will remain only at the level of bitching and sour grapes.

if the starting 11 consists of your "A Squad," then yeah, you have to step up. I like that Bradley went for the group win instead of being complacent.

I don't think the World Cup board would fizzle out after the U.S. (inevitably) drops off.
The excitement around every post-group stage match is too frantic to be silent.
It would especially be cool if the board opened up several weeks before the WC. I think a lot of us soccer nerds could get into things like team previews, player profiles, speculation, various outlets of humor, etc.

Oh, I thought you were implying that this match was this weekend.
But I just looked and the only appetizing matchup is Viller-Chelsea.
The Liverpool v. Sunderland game could potentially be interesting too.

CR's back line was often dismal. I'll give Jozy credit for making some swift and efficient cuts to get free in 1v1 or double team situations, but for most EPL wingbacks, they'd have no problem tidying up his zig-zag charges.

regardless, even if that one example is wrong, box office numbers dont matter in this case for whether a movie is overrated or not. TBL has certainly aged well and has spread into circulation through word of mouth.
