good post

but its tragic that the list of four-year guys is so damn small, if memory serves we had that many on the 2010 OL alone

while our situation was exacerbated by the Harsin/Freezus debacles, i imagine virtually every school has a shortage of guys who’ve stuck around for their entire collegiate careers

and CFB overall is the worse for it IMHO
jang, your argument in favor of Chaplain has merit, but its highly likely he made his decision to enter the portal long before the season ended

therefore i cant fault the new staff for failing to keep him, or any of our other offensive transfers - i assume most of them figured they’d just as soon start over from scratch someplace new rather than sticking around for another year
i was a fan of Golesh even before he got hired, and was disappointed when the word got out that he was headed to Arky around the same time Sumrall backed off of AU when UF came calling

I woke up after the IB convinced we were promoting Durkin, and was thrilled that we got Golesh instead

of course my “homerun hire” takes have turned out pretty shitty recently (Frost at Nebraska, Napier at UF, Fickell at Wisky), so take that FWIW

but the best part is he’s not Hugh fricking Freezus
wonder what his injury issues were

we’ve had talented OL in the past who couldnt play an entire season without missing games due to lingering knee and/or back problems

I take it back
better if we took the entire season after week 3 back

but it exorcised us of Freezus, so it wasn’t all bad
my wife used to work with a guy named Al

great guy, good colleague, did his job well, friendly, fun to be around - but he had one peculiar habit: he never said “no” to any invitation, always “yeah, sounds like a blast, count me in “

and then he just wouldn’t show up

we all got used to it eventually, “oh, Al said he was coming but he never does” and we’d just laugh it off

he used to explain his absences with some lame after-the-fact excuse, but eventually didn’t even bother

we all forgave him, because he was such a good friend and co-worker in every other sense

it worked for Al, maybe it would work for you
“Vince,
At least we tried.
-Jack”
here’s a songwriters special that he did in 2014 - he leads off with a song he wrote for Johnny Lee back in the early 80s:

ETA: he mentions being auggie’s mailman (sort of)
and to think how we used to believe that players unions and long-term high dollar contracts would destroy professional sports

maybe the only things that would save CFB, at least as far as its capable of being saved

Brandon Johnson. Down and dirty fullback

wife’s cousin knew him and his family for years - they were all shrimpers, great people but pretty tough

first member of his clan to attend college ever, like 4-5 generations back

helluva good guy from what cuz told me

who are LSU’s backup QBs?

he did score 40+ points and throw for over 300 yards against an SEC defense the other week. When is the last time an Auburn QB did that?
Payton Thorne against TAMU in 2024

Ashton Daniels just missed by 2 points against Vandy in 2025

gonna be a real headscratcher when we have a better record this season against a much tougher schedule

Yea, I think we are going to start moving towards high school classes that are going to be much more filled with your middle ranked recruits that are your culture/glue guys that want to develop and be there, then using your NIL on your 2nd and 3rd year transfer players.
kinda what Golesh described in his opening presser

seems like he believes in the importance of developing as a team - to be honest i have no idea if thats possible in the current CFB environment, but it cant be any worse than what we’ve been doing the last 5 years

i actually prefer the taste of unsweetened coconut milk to cow’s milk

but heavy whipping cream in my coffee is the bomb
Saban >>>>>>> Bryant

Bryant had tons of advantages that Saban never enjoyed, but never had that 16 year run of excellence from 2008-2023

AU media has been the same for years

especially this fat bastard

I am actually with you. I am feeling good about the new coach. And honestly, I dont even know why. I just am
i started looking into the guy after USF beat UF and really liked what i read

he was near the top of my wish list and was really bummed when it was announced he was going to Arky

when allin posted he was the hire and not DJ i was thrilled

settled into a cautious optimism based on my shitty record of predicting who would be a homerun hire at other schools

i like Golesh based on what i’ve seen, not sure if it will work out on the field but i’m more hopeful than i have been in years

seems simple enough

i seem to recall he got deported back to Pakistan because Jerry forgot to show up at his immigration hearing

the Dream Cafe failure was just the precursor
