That's cuz this guy isn't concerned about long term growth of the sport. He's worried about building a team for his kid for a few years. If the sport gets destroyed so be it. Not his problem.

I stand corrected on Jeff, but St Tammany definitely isn't and I'm sure most parishes aren't.

Why does he care about the small schools, he doesn’t play them for any championships?

Now they do absolutely have too many that makes it an unequal vote on issues like this. They would lose their shite if high enrollment schools deconsolidated theoretically and crushed their votes

Well that's exactly why. If you vote to screw the small schools over, the small schools will remember that for the future. They don't have anything to lose from it passing, they are already the best. Might as well keep everyone happy.

What part of my statement of if you lived in the district in 8th grade you were eligible was wrong? You're just a jackass.

Principals didn’t want to adapt to the times and the landscape

I disagree with you here from what you posted on LSL. Principals looked at college and said, no way, that bad for all parties invovled, even the kids who think they are benefitting from the portal, but that's an aside tangent with how many kids never make it out of the portal. If we went to straight clubs and got rid of schools, I'd be for all of it. But we need to have accountability for the student part of the student athlete.

I always thought if you were at a school in your 8th grade year (under the HS principal) that was the year you sat out so you’d be eligible to play in 9th

It only matters what district you live in. If you live in the district and went to Rummel in 8th grade, you could play varsity.

Every public district, charter system, and private system has a variety of rules and regulations regarding attendance and enrollment. The minority attendance zone system should not cost kids a year of eligibility because its been around a long time.

I'm talking about parishes like ST and Jeff, where it's not open enrollment. Unless you can show me otherwise, these kids are not going to be eligible for schools they are out of zone for because those schools aren't going to even allow them in.

No more attendance zone restrictions for students entering LHSAA schools in the 9th grade.

There's still going to be parishes that don't have open enrollment though. Sucks to be them.
I'd love to know the names of the schools that voted yes. Will they have the results posted somewhere? It's clear that 80+ percent know this is a horrible idea. The government needs to stay out of it.
There's are some low IQ people who keep spouting school choice but don't acknowledge this does absolutely nothing in terms of changing which schools kids can attend. Public schools aren't going to magically get different funding because of this. Your zoning still matters. Even if you went parish-wide, that still doesn't solve out of parish issues. If this stuff passes, long term we're just looking at scholastic sports slowly transitioning to club sports. Some sports like soccer already have school teams considered second tier to club equivalent. I imagine that'll start to happen with other sports.
But suppose the private schools aren't okay with the oversight? A lot of private school folks are also those who back elections.

Like anything it will hurt some schools and help others…

It's not 50/50 though. It'll be like 90/10, which is why the majority of schools, even privates, are against it. There are a lot of public schools that would benefit from that too.

If there’s a new association

I think the new association ship has sailed. Also, you say conservatives wanting school choice, but pretty much the one time transfer is universally disliked by both public and private schools.
Today is the meeting. Class meetings start at 8:30 so it shouldn't take long to start hearing tidbits hopefully.
I just looked through your Alpha AI program bud. Doesn't look like any teachers are replaced, but nice try. Also, you can attend for the low, low price of $40,000 per year!

Gtfo. AI isn't replacing teachers any time soon. Newman would blush at that tuition.
I dunno what the answer is, but I watched the highlights on wheels and it made be think ever paying for that would be a waste of time. The camera guy didn't know where to go on occasion, missed important moments, and camera that looked like it was in a hurricane at some points.
This also misses out on one of the most important elements of school, socialization. We already saw what isolation does during Covid. I have no clue why people would even consider homeschooling. The social education your child misses out on by staying at home and not interacting is very important.
So every family will need to have one parent not work so they can stay at home with their kid for 3 hours a day? Awesome!

in the end AI is coming for teaching anyways. Already showing its much better at teaching with the success of the alpha program.

Oh yeah you can drop off your kid to a computer and say good luck, see you in 8 hours? Lol you have not clue what you are talking about.

D1 baseball should be disallowed from showing games again. I totally hate it.
