Happy for Blake Baker! Came to Tech with Manny Diaz in 2014, If I recall correctly, from Texas after Diaz was fired. Worked his way up to get to this point the right way. From probably $150K per year at Tech in his first season to 2.2M now, good for him!!!

A very good read that includes LSU's last visit to Ruston. Really never understood the reason for the La Tech dropoff in baseball for the last 30 years. the link is to the CUSA website.

The entire article is behind a paywall, but here is the gist of the mention of Tech...

Five Teams You’ll Know By June.

1- Louisiana Tech

I’m not sure how these boys from Ruston didn’t get more love in the preseason. They hosted a regional last year, beat four SEC teams and return nearly every major piece from that 2021 lineup. I had them at No. 23 in my Athlon’s preseason Top25. And that mighta been too low.

Loved Alabama's defense, it's legit. They are really quick and rotate out of their man to man defense really well. Tech will get better as the season progresses, as most teams should.
Funny you ask that, because I was the asst. coach at Slidell High during those years. Dan Ruffin was head coach. Constant pressure from a full court 2-2-1 zone, whether made of missed basket, very loosely structured offense with great shooters. People called it street ball but have no idea how long and hard we worked on the rotations out of that pressure. It was beautiful to watch, but of course I am biased. And another thing, we were a GREAT free throw shooting team because our practices were all about mimicking how we played. We practiced shooting free throws when tired, not standing around and shooting ten in a row, but making three or two during the middle of practice when you're drained.
I know LSU is playing ULM tonight also, but if you want to switch between channels during commercials, Tech and Bama are playing on SECN and WatchESPN tonight also. 8 PM tip. LSU plays both later this year.
Mainly a reader, but, I didn't know where to put it. Feel free to move it. BUT, I do think there is some foreshadowing concerning collaboration instead of consumption, which LSU is famous for.
Yes, I think it used to be called Century Link or Centurytel Arena. I believe it has had a name change though.
And I think Will Wade is one hell of a basketball coach!
Should be a good game! Man, some of the comments, glass houses my friends.
I'm certainly not going to predict a Tech win, but, the final score will be much closer than last year's game. BTW Philly Tiger, I see your tag says NC State fan. Congrats on a great baseball season, though you got royally screwed in the end. Tech travels to Raleigh to play yall in football on 10/2 and basketball on 11/27.
Really looking forward to this matchup in Bossier City! Kenneth Lofton , Jr coming off of his impressive Summer performance with Team USA plus some really good signees and transfers against what LSU has returning should make for a great event. I believe Coach Wade and Coach Konkol have a genuine mutual respect and have each built really quality programs. Should be a great early OOC matchup.
Franklin High (Franklin, La.): Lyman White, Michael Johnson, Greg Bowser, Leonard Marshall
Wouldn't it be ironic if Kim Mulkey threw out the first pitch today!
If the game gets cancelled by mutual agreement, I'm ok with that. LSU lost Jaden Hill for the remainder of the season so that put a squeeze on their starting pitching and Tech playing 4 game conference series does the same to them. Tech is not going to use up its bullpen to get an OOC win at the cost of a conference win and possible regional hosting situation. If the game is played, it may be a 20-19 type of game with both teams reaching way back into their pitching staffs looking for arms to throw. Just my $.02.
Tech's starting lineup is the same as yesterday, maybe a little change in batting order. Ryan Jennings was supposed to be the Friday night guy last year but missed the season due to surgery. Will be interesting to see how he responds to the situation.

I was Dan Ruffin's assistant at Slidell High and watched Torris Bright drop 70 on Northshore High during Torris' senior season in 1999. Always wished John Brady wouldn't have handcuffed him so much.

Ummm, we are 3-2 all time against Bama. Of course one was a forfeit, so thake that away and we are 2-2. LINK BTW, I enjoy this board, y'all are fun! Go Dawgs!

Haven't played you in nine years. Why would I visit or post on this board if we haven't played since 2009 ( yeah, that's nine years). Final score was 24-16 I believe, in the favor of the Tigers.

BTW, still waiting on someone to deny the Bama envy. I see that topic was completely ignored. If this was a proportion it would look something like this: La Tech is to LSU as LSU is to Alabama.
What a reply! Trash arse school! I'd bet you, like most LSU fans, never got a degree from any school. It's called bandwagon. I pull for Tech because my degree says Louisiana Tech University on it. What does yours say?

Too long for your reading comprehension skills, I suppose!

Not mad, just learn a little about us. I'd bet Van Buren, Tittle, and Taylor were well ahead of Bradshaw, Dean, and Roaf, who fit the mold of more modern NFL players.
Man, you guys are something else! I understand your condescending attitude toward Tech because you know nothing of us nor our traditions (BTW we have three NFL HOFers, how many do you have?) You should beat us on Saturday, but there is no guarantee it will happen, but probability says it should. If you think our envy of you is something, look in the mirror. We do not aspire to be LSU, but do aspire to be the best we can be. Huey Long sealed the fate of all other universities in the state, of which we have far too many, with his flagship mentality, but that is not a fight worth fighting. I hope LSU represents this state well. They do like taking graduate level programs from the other state schools as if they feel they are some sort of "farm" program, hence, some of the resentment. Just look at Tech's biomedical engineering program. LSU probably never heard of it until Tech began their undergrad program, was very successful at it, then the powers that be, see legislature, (doctors, lawyers, etc. of which LSU has those by the balls) decided it should be at the almighty LSU instead of Tech. Before any of you start saying BOO HOO and such and thinking we are envious, you couldn't be further from the truth. We are proud of who we are and work diligently to do our mission. If there was ever an issue of penis envy, look no further than your envy of Alabama. Call it what you want, but you hate BAMA because you envy their success on the football field. You despise Alabama and Nick Saban because they are, and rightfully so, head and shoulders above you on the gridiron. If you can follow that rambling discussion, then you can see how the other state schools view you in the same vein as you view Alabama. The fact that you are in the SEC makes no difference. You are Bama's little brother just the same as you think we are your little brother, and history, and reading your message boards, prove it. They are your measuring stick and I dare you to say otherwise. You measure your success against Alabama's and like nothing more than to see them fail. How then, are we any different from you? I like you, but I don't want to be you,and I hope,no matter how improbable it may be, that my DAWGS come out victorious on Saturday. I believe you hope the same for your Tigers.
15-2 overall, 3-0 WAC, finishing the road trip at Boise on Monday night, I'd say so this year. I have to say a big thank you to LSU for Nikita Johnson and magnum Rolle.

If Chad Boyd is a "thug","piece of ----", etc. that he's been called in previous posts for making a split second decision, then using the same reasoning Lyle Hitt must be even worse. Yes, a penalty was called, but what type of player goes to the knees of a defenseless competitor from behind and 15 yards from the play?
