re: Josh Pate Ranks College Football's Eight Most Hated Teams 2026

LSU’s the SEC’s Miami or Florida State to Alabama’s Notre Dame in terms of how they present themselves, LSU does it on full attitude, swagger, and an uncommon playfulness that attracts the casual football fan and with which people can identify; Alabama obviously has an aura like LSU but the contrast is it’s as Saban put it, “joyless murderball”: bland like Alabama’s food, devoid of personality, machine-esque, almost like the Soviets in Olympic sports, methodical, at least that’s what it was during Saban’s time, DeBoer can’t run the ball and the team has gotten soft so who knows?

Georgia now owns Bama in both football and basketball, God bless America

Alabama needs to be no. 1, yeah Notre Dame still has that independent entitlement they have but let’s be real: they haven’t won the natty since 1993 (intentional, they deserved it over the team THEY BEAT AS HEAVY HOME UNDERDOGS FLORIDA STATE) so they don’t have ground on which to stand so no one takes them seriously to actually hate them

I definitely think Rece would be a pleasant meet, regardless of how much Bama he has in him, would be great to just talk ball

Shouldn’t the coach be an upgrade over tPear?
tPear embodies LSU and juices up the fans, the arena was always packed when he was our coach and the players played their asses off for him

I know but you might break that losing streak when you play us since LSU's so bad in SEC play this year

Y'all are on a roll, a 3-line in march madness is very much still in play; however if yall don't fix your defense, you'll go another year without a national title under Oats

Yeah it's kind of wild, they have the same record as LSU and are projected as an 11-seed, they'd fall further but those low-lines are reserved for mid-major conference tournament champs.

frick McSleepy, bring back WILL WADE :geauxtigers:

Nope it’s the right one, a 2019 LSU team derailed by a chickenshit AD

Coach K was in a better confernece to recruit, better area to recruit, and his record for the first three seasons was not only bad but appeared to be declining in quality. The next 11 seasons they were in the playoffs and had 7 final four appearances with 2 championships and two runner-up outcomes.
Different culture completely now, and no patience in fan bases.
I get your point but this comparison is an olympic-level stretch especially when you account for that 1982 recruiting class that ultimately saved Coach K, also Coach K had Duke in the ACC title game Year 4 and an NCAA 3-seed. CMM doesn't have LSU anywhere near those accolades in Year 4 -- end of comparison.

why would LSU hire someone who lost to Stephen Pearl and Sean Miller this season ??
appears NCSU has lost 3 of its last 4 and gave up 118 to Louisville do so -
Because we recall what he did at LSU and NC State will make the tournament this year regardless, those losses only help the cause of Pear returning to LSU because it partly demonstrates that NC State isn't that much of a vertical move if any.

No wade is a good coach but yall have been so bad the last few years with MM that you guys have started to romanticize the Wade era more than it should be
I mean outside his first season and the covid year, he took LSU to March Madness every year he was head coach. LSU was arguably a top ten team nationally his second year in BR and would've gone further in the tournament had the AD not been a bunch of pansies and suspended him from that tournament run. Moreover, LSU was a basket away from winning the SEC tournament for the first time since 1980 in 2021. Wade's good, really good and pearfect for LSU.
