How about we regulate the pay and keep the current rules? Sounds like yet another money grab from the players.
re: Portland police chief cries while admitting illegals shot by ICE were gang members

What a poonani. Can you imagine that weakling being a police chief? Portland is even worse off than I thought

Tv ratings and interest in the sport would indicate that you are an outlier.
The world may be driven by ratings but these are not "passionate" fans. The only thing I could think of that is boosting ratings are NFL fans and sports bettors.
I don't know a single person who is MORE inclined to watch the current product than pre-NIL and transfer portal. I know a whole lot of people who watch less CFB than before

TV ratings and revenue continue to climb. Despite so many griping about the state of cfb, the sport continues to grow.
People may watch on TV but the fan fervor is significantly diminished from what it was 5-6 years ago.
I'm sure there are many people like me who still watch their team but aren't very invested anymore. I used to watch just about every SEC game and now I don't really care much
It would also to be interesting to see how these changes have impacted memorabilia sales. Only speaking for myself, I used to buy tons of LSU football gear (hats, shirts, etc.) but don't really care to spend the money anymore

If that really is your cup of tea you can find DII and DIII games online I’m sure. First find a program then visit their site. If you want a powerhouse to root for as a starting point there is Ferris State in DII and Mount Union in DIII
DII and DIII are toast as well. Any decent player who has a good season transfers to a DI so there's no continuity there either

Where are you talking about? In SW MS, this is absolutely not true. In fact, your favorite stock market index would’ve been a far better investment.

NIL and Waning Fandom - Hypothetical New College Football Format
Posted by MC5601 on 1/8/26 at 3:00 pm
With all the NIL turmoil and mercenary teams, I've had a thought about if CFB were to split into professional teams and true college teams like we are used to historically. I find my fandom in LSU waning and am getting to the point where I don't care too much about our current team/players due to the insane roster turnover year to year
I wonder if there would ever be a way to have a CFB league that operated under the old rules where the athletes were not paid and had limited transfer opportunity. Even if the quality of play was lower, I would be much more inclined to root and pay to attend games that were played by actual college students who care about the university rather than a paycheck. Do you think anything like this could be implemented?
I know this would never realistically happen but one can dream. I miss the feeling of caring about our football team and it seems the passion in the fanbase is largely gone

I will know the name of 4 players on LSU’s team next year. That’s wild
Absolutely. I used to know almost every player on the roster and look forward to them contributing after a year or two in the system Now I know almost nobody and don't care anymore because they will likely be gone chasing a dollar. It's taken the fun out of being a fan

So sad. Selfishness and greed have destroyed CFB
re: Not a new topic: Hunter participation rates falling.
Posted by MC5601 on 12/30/25 at 4:13 pm to Purple Spoon
It's not surprising to see as there are many causes. Hunting is very quickly becoming a rich man's sport with the increase in land values, land fragmentation, and significantly reduced lease opportunities
1 Increased Urban Population - this means that there are fewer people that grew up with any exposure to the outdoors. In a state like Texas, only about 15% of people live in rural areas. Dad and grandpa may have hunted but the younger generation is often not exposed to it and has no interest
2 Land Fragmentation - Large farms and ranches are continually being fragmented at an astounding rate. Years ago there were many tracts of land with 1000+ acres which would be leased for hunting to help pay the bills. Now, those farms and ranches are being sold and divided into 10, 50, 100 acre parcels that are not big enough to lease. This has also led to overharvest of game. 10 lease hunters on 1500 won't deplete the resource but when that land is turned into 30 separate 50 acre parcels with 2 hunters a piece now you have 60 individuals hunting the same amount of land
3 Land prices - The most significant thing holding back hunter participation is land prices. Land prices have risen around 5X in the last 25 years which has led to people selling and fragmenting family farms and ranches like never before. It makes sense to allow lease hunters on large acreage, inexpensive land but if you have the money to pay millions for a farm or ranch, the $30k per year in lease revenue is not significant enough to be worth the headache. These prices also mean that your middle class joe blow can no longer afford to purchase a 200 acre family hunting retreat.

Mental Illness is a major problem in this country. We need more funding to deal with this crisis.
Many will downvote but you are correct. We need to open hundreds of asylums and involuntarily commit the mentally ill before they hurt themselves or others. They must be FORCED to get three help they need
I also thought it wild that a major plot line involved smuggling tons of immigrants into the US while there is a government that is totally focused on racial purity and treats non-whites like trash. Wouldn’t people be fleeing INTO Mexico if the US operated with completely open racism and against minorities? Just another thing about that movie that made no logical sense

I have KM3's on Suburban at the ranch. They are a little rough riding but great in both rocks and mud. Went through a big mud hole in 2WD a couple of weeks ago and it cruised right through with no problem
re: play some as a FR, contribute big as a SO, star as a JR is dead. Now it’s bye, grab a bag,

Absolutely true. There's no development pipeline anymore. Traditionally you'd have a freshman who could play some snaps each game and show promise to develop into a good player in a couple of years. In today's game, that freshman who had some success is looking to jet for a bag and a guranteed starting job as soon as the season ends.
If a kid has any kind of success at all, be prepared to be held hostage every year for more money and guaranteed playing time. This mentality has taken much of the joy out of CFB. If we wanted to root for mercenaries we'd watch the NFL.. at least we know they are under contract for more than one year

You guys obviously know nothing of the navy. The “battleships” trump referred to are upgraded Arleigh Burke destroyers that we already have many of in the fleet. If you think he’s referring to Iowa class actual battleships you’re ignorant

Just watched it last night and was not very impressed. The acting itself is good but the story is disjointed
The most difficult part is that there are no “good” characters to root for. The ANTIFA crew are self absorbed terrorists and the government is well meaning but racist. I found myself not caring what happened in the movie because all the characters were so unlikeable

Just watched the movie a few days ago and I believe he says it’s $15,000
I bet they could have built a nice pool for about $10k back then. As recent as 10 years ago a decent sized in ground pool was about $35k. Now it’s about $80k for an entry level in ground pool
