play calling on 1st. downs in the 2nd half
Posted by lacajun on 10/10/10 at 5:31 pm
I thought crowton lined us up in the "I" and ran it streight up the big arse middle too much on 1st down in the 2nd 1/2.Anyone else see it this way ?? It put us in 2nd and long lots of times.I think the play calling did improve some .I would like to see run plays on first down out of some formation other than the "I" .If no other reason than too keep the other teams from just sticking 8 in the box

re: How would Charles Scott have done with this OL play?

quote............................................
Scott could not make the FS miss for the most part.

yes sometimes this was true....but by the 4th 1/4 the safety was like dam here he comes again...I hope someone else gets him this time...he punished people & that helps toward the end of the game....imo
both would do much better if we had a passing game...for more than 10 yrds.
SCOTT hands down....plus he was a great blocker...just had no holes to run through last year....

10-4 on the sadly mishandled part......we will be lucky to keep recruiting good kids the way things are going @ least on the offencive side of the ball.
see you in 8 mins....

imo Scott was better....he had no blocking last year and ran the same 2 or three plays all the frickn time (OC)...its bad when you can listen to the radio and know what play they gonna run.
2nd time under the bus this week...GOOD !!
FROM Mrsec.com
Let me give you a scenario:
1. A head coach has a reputation for being a bit of a gameday goof.
2. Some of the goofs the coach is most famous for are tied to issues on the offensive side of the ball.
3. The head coach has a buyout that’s worth — some say — $14 million, which means he’s likely not going to be going anywhere.
Now add in the following factors:
4. The media is asking a lot of questions and directing a lot of criticism at the offensive coordinator.
5. The head coach discusses the criticism and doesn’t necessarily squelch it.
What does that mean? It means that Gary Crowton will be gone at LSU before Les Miles.
According to Glenn Guilbeau of The Shreveport Times, Miles suggested yesterday that the Tigers’ playbook is too thick, that Crowton shouldn’t have changed personnel packages at game’s end, and that he (meaning Miles) should have stepped in and ordered the Tigers to spike the ball in order to stop the clock.
“Ultimately, it’s my responsibility, period,” Miles said.
But the fact that he’s discussing such issues and admitting such problems says that Crowton’s seat will likely be hotter at year’s end than Miles’ seat.
