Lunch last week at Portico and an older gentleman sat at the bar and ordered a glass of red wine with a shot of Tito's in it. Actually ended up ordering a second one and pairing these with chili cheese dogs and fries. Is there a special name for this concoction or is it just called a glass of red wine with a shot of vodka in it?

Went with the cheeseburger and cottage fries at Pickle Barrel. Pretty good and toasting the bun is always a Big Plus for me! Thanks for the suggestions and I will keep the others in mind for next time!

And remembering Old Melvyn's always makes me think about Bambi! A lot of regulars liked Jill's side better but Bambi was Sweeeet to look at . . . little bitty shorts with a half shirt and that tummy that was flat as a pancake . . . for sure took your mind off what a Nasty Dump you were eating in

I cook two huge pots of chili every year and I spend a LOT of time the night before chopping onions and bell peppers (and garlic and tomatoes)! Are the frozen onions/bell peppers in the grocery store just as good as fresh for taste?

A recipe I made up a few years ago!

Olive oil
1 lb mushrooms sliced
1 bunch green onions sliced
3 cloves garlic chopped
1 cup white wine
1 cup orange juice
Black pepper
Slap ya Mama
Tabasco
Parsley
1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp
Pasta

Saute mushrooms, green onion bottoms, and garlic in olive oil. Add wine, orange juice, seasonings and simmer for a few minutes. Add shrimp, parsley, green onion tops and simmer til shrimp are done. Serve over pasta with a salad and french bread. Light and a little different!

Used to be Apocalypse Now . . . but after watching Elizabethtown again . . . I am changing my mind for good! And yes . . . quite a change in direction but if you haven't seen it . . . just give it a chance! I do love me some Kirsten Dunst!
