re: At what point in the season did you say “yeah the baseball team just isn’t good”

3 out of 5 years Jay hasn’t hosted a regional. Has never sniffed a conference title. Objectively below LSU standards regular season coach with a 5 year track record. He’s gone on two incredible post season runs on the back of having the best college pitcher in baseball. Hopefully he can have a top three pitcher who’s also nails in the post season every few years.
I wish that we were as successful in the regular season as an elite school like Arkansas - I wonder if they would be willing to trade places with us. Well, except they’re 26-13 this year.
If we’re casting doubt on Jay’s track record at LSU, which literally any school and essentially any sport would be desperate to emulate, we should step back for some perspective - if the job of the LSU coach is to keep winning national championships, then the most important aspect of the job is having the team playing their best by the end of the season.
And he has certainly done that 4/4 years, though it remains to be seen this season. I know that everyone looks back on 2024 as an utter failure between dream seasons, but that team turned around from 3-12 in the SEC to one out from hosting a super regional in BR.
Put in another perspective, every year that Jay has failed to meet expectations at LSU, he has followed up with a national title. That’s a pretty incredible track record - we’ll see if it continues.

I thought that we were on the brink of turning it around after taking the series at Tennessee (on the heels of winning the series against UK), but losing to Bethune-Cookman was a bad omen heading into that horrendous Ole Miss series.
Man, this is pretty deflating. Their guys are constantly jumping out to 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 counts and fighting off strike 3. We’re going 0-2,1-2 and flailing constantly.

Is dang good. Adds a lot to the broadcast
I like Hunt Palmer, and would like him on future broadcasts, but if I have one criticism, it is that he adds a lot to the broadcast. Could be a little more sparing with the color commentary.

Let’s go, pour it on boys
Welp, that was miserable. Did not picture this level of futility coming after the uplifting ending on Sunday. Hope they can salvage something tomorrow.
Coincidentally, this time last year we were swept at Auburn.

How would anyone here fricking know? If the team didn’t give a shite the way some of you project, they wouldn’t have any comeback wins.
It wouldn’t be a close SEC game without the usual cohort of posters raving about “no leaders, no fire, going through the motions” at the first sign of adversity.

With this team, a 2 run deficit seems like a 5-6 one. There is no fire, pride, or passion anywhere.
It is fair to be disappointed when the team underperforms. That said, they’ve rebounded from bigger deficits in the previous two SEC series, so I have no idea what you’re talking about.
I would not be surprised to see us get back on top and win this game. This is the kind of game/situation that we’ve thrived on this whole SEC slate.

We’re less than a week from the Tennessee Sunday game.
It obviously sucks to lose, but so many of the people posting here are mentally soft and prisoners of the moment.

His philosophy here has always been sacrifice defense a little to get the offense elite. He just doesn’t have anything like that this year… we don’t have one dude that strikes fear into anyone.
Which players on last year’s team struck more fear into opponents than Curiel or Brown? You know, two guys who were key players on last year’s team, and have improved offensively?

I think he was too quick to pull Lachenmayer, only for Rizy to be even less controlled.

I’m listening to the radio feed, but it sounded like a Theismann moment with the fielders calling for help.
Hopefully he’s not as seriously injured as it looks. Would hate it for him, and for the team.

I think this game and series showed us the path forward.
Hopefully the path forward involves having Cade Arrambide hit 4 homers every game, that would be a good strategy to employ.
I think that Yamin and Arrambide should be starting somewhere in C/1B/DH for the foreseeable future.
Holy fricking shite have a day Cade Arrambide!!!

If we someone don’t pull it out, I really don’t want to hear any whimpering about this team having no leaders, or not caring, or going through the motions. If nothing else this year, this team is fighting like hell even when things look dire.

Terrible coaching decisions all around. Harden should have hit instead of caraway.
Hardin has struck out with a higher frequency than almost anyone on the team, and has no infield reps.
Per the radio call, Curiel missed the stop sign from the 3B coach.
