How is RR defined? For example, is a clear out route for a play action run considered a RR?

I haven't seen the movie, but this is the documentary that inspired the movie.

Still have no idea what John Carter is about to this day. Pretty sure I’ve even tried to watch it before. Naming a movie after a guy with two bland first names and no description of the movie was sure to not draw any interest from audiences
John Carter is not a bad movie at all. Its poor performance is due to one of the worst marketing campaigns in movie history. The movie was based on A Princess of Mars, the first book in the Barsoom series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It was first published 100 yrs before the film's release, and the series was quite influential--including being a partial inspiration for Superman.
You had to be a pretty intense sci-fi nerd to know this stuff, but the marketing seemed to assume it was pretty common knowledge. They would have been better off naming it after the book than the WTF John Carter.

G5 teams do need access, but they need to limit the privilege. Nobody should have an automatic bid. Either the conference championship games go away, or you just make them exhibition games done for conference bragging rights.
Just take the final rankings best teams. Now I am willing to give them some leeway because there is an inherent bias against them. So, i would take a G5 team in say the top 15 if no G5 team made the top 12.

That phrase originated in the 19th century. Need to up that cash value if you want to sound like a big spender.

I have no idea how these assistants view professional progress, but he might not be comfortable with being a DT coach, instead of a DL coach in charge of the entire line.

This is about KW not wanting to coach rather than Lane not offering. My guess is that the demands on a college assistant are more than he wants to give at this stage in his life.

You're missing a game and it's an SEC opponent.

I remember this. Did LSU decide not to play in a bowl game or were there were no bowls available for them to attend? ND also possibly cost LSU the 1969 National Championship. That '69 defense was ferocious
According to Wiki, three bowls showed interest (Gator, Bluebonnet, and Peach). I remember the Peach invite, but not the others, but I have no reason to doubt it. The Peach turndown was somewhat understandable since we participated in the inaugural game the year before. So there was opportunity.
No one outside of LSU cared about this protest. It was an own goal. To the extent they punished anyone, it would have been a bowl game community that had nothing to do with this.
There is no way we would have gotten a national championship. First, we played an incredibly weak schedule. Only 3 teams had a winning record:
o We beat 8-2 AU by 1pt and then got beaten badly in their bowl game against Houston;
o We lost to 7-3 OM, but they went on to beat Ark in their bowl.
o We beat 6-4 AL by 5 pts and they went on to lost pretty badly to Colorado.
Everybody else had losing records and we didn't dominate anyone with a pulse.
We were ranked 8th in the AP after the last regular season game. In the Final AP, Penn State was #2 and undefeated and USC was #3 unbeaten and tied once. There is no way we would have jumped these teams to number 1.
LSU fans like to create a mythology that has no basis in fact--like Arnsparger recommending Archer so he could hire Spurrier or that T-Bob was the hero of the TN game fiasco. We should honor this team for what it actually accomplished and not make up bullshite.

But out of nowhere Notre Dame decided to change their bowl policy and bumped LSU out of the Cotton Bowl. LSU decided to stay home and sit out bowls.
Yes, ND changed their policy, but they did not decide that LSU was out, the Cotton Bowl decided that LSU was out. Thought it was childish to sit out the bowl games--there were only 10 back then, so they were all significant. It was a stupid protest because nobody really gave a shite and LSU was only hurting itself. The players voted not to participate, but they were really only following the lead of a pissed off McClendon.

SEC has a requirement to schedule one P4 opponent. Who is willing to schedule us at this late date?

That actually looks great, and I hate music biopics (i realize this is not one) and Sweet Caroline.
This really is a true story. I believe the primary source material is a 2008 documentary of the same name. It's available on YouTube. Don't know if it's a good idea to watch before the movie or not (I did), but here it is.
This is not a purely feel-good story. I don't know how much the movie goes into it, but I know they do, there is a freak tragic accident that spins the family out of control for a half decade or more.

Due to the wild west of the transfer portal, the limit is basically just stay at 85 or under on the fall roster.

re: Just curious if Lane has given Baker a Timeline to accept or reject the DC offer.
Posted by Indiana Tiger on 12/3/25 at 9:52 am to mcspufftiger7
Baker doesn't have a decision to make until Tulane makes a decision to offer him. At this point he's the DC until he's not. It's not like he's sitting around mulling LSU vs Tulane. Is it effecting things? Yes. But until they fix the system, you just have to live with it.

They have good reason to be salty. Their best chance to get their first natty was here one day and gone the next. They have been screwed. The recruiting and portal dates need to be adjusted.
Yes the system needs to be changed, but the best outcome for them was to let him coach.
1. There is no conflict of interest in coaching the team. LSU is not in the playoffs.
2. The conflict of interest is in roster management. Because their only leverage against Lane was him wanting to coach and Lane's leverage against LSU, they could have worked out an enforceable non-compete deal where we would not take current 26 committed recruits or current roster players in the transfer portal.
3. Without the non-compete, Lane's ethical duty is if it improves LSU then do it. I don't think Lane was threatening them; he was just explaining the facts of life. This is done all the time. Look at what Cignetti did to his former school. He's taking staff because he needs help now. If players can help, he will recruit them.
4. Yes, like a nasty divorce, this is distasteful, but it is the right thing to do for the kids.. The only legitimate reason for not letting him is the security issue, because them people are nuts.
