Went high school and LSU with Cannon; he was for "real" he also was a pretty good basketball player started for Istrouma.

If your defense does not allow the opponent score touchdowns, a team must not allow them close enough to kick field goals. Looks like Bama let us get to close!
In contrast, the Tigers kept Bama out of the end zone AND out of field goal range for their kicker(s).
Not really uncommon for tough SEC defensive battles like the late 50s, 60s and 70s.
So, as one imminent philosopher once said:
“If if’s and but’s were candy and nuts, we would all have a Merry Christmas”
