The market really shouldn’t be fluctuating so much based on random headlines in the first place.

Since when? The Vix dropped a little bit but when the Vix is up like it has been headlines are literally what move the market. It is actually called Headline Risk.

Based on the rule of 72 and the 13-15% my brokers averaged over that time frame they would have doubled my principal every five years. That is something most individual investors do not even come close to over that time frame. In fact a good bit lose money. Like I said, while I am working I will have brokers handle the lions share and possibly take the reigns when I retire but I am happy with my results. And I thing that is the best advice for somebody investing large amounts of money. Some brokers charge more for smaller investors or don't offer some of the investment opportunities at all.
I have two CFP's that invest different strategically for about 2/3's of my non real estate investments. I handle about 10% and manage the riskier portion of my portfolio myself. The rest is in active 401k portfolio's.
How it breaks down, 2/3's of my investments are non real estate. I am within 2 years of retirement. My personal feeling is if you have over a million in equity investments let a pro handle the majority. Once I have retired I will possibly take a larger role.

This is why we have day jobs. The market didn't move down at all based on the weekend news. I am actually up. Now I am not saying some more news cant come out and it be down by the end of the day but that is the volitility we are dealing with.
I bet you like cats better than dogs and are really close to your grandmother.
Are most of your 80,000 post as Beta as the ones you have made on this thread? I bet you wash your wife's boyfriends clothes for him.
Your moma is calling you, don't you hear her. It's time for dinner.
Oh I'm the dork? You have 80,000 post on a sports forum in 15 years. That's almost 15 a day. Yea, I'm the dork dude...
Sports really don't have a big role in it besides being the gathering point for Cocky Frat Boys and drunk rednecks. I have been to almost every SEC football stadium and quite a few Baseball as well, some multiple times and I have had 3 issues. 2 in Oxford and 1 in Baton Rouge, all with Ole Miss Fans and allways 100% started by the Rebel Fans. There is no way I am on an Island here.
Coming from someone that had to practically fight his way our of the grove twice, I couldn't be happier to see some of those Frat boys leak a little. OM fans are the worse.
Someone Found Out...
I can't wait to see the Rebs dropping this football season.
If my memory serves me correctly all but 2 on this staff throw 95+. The downfall of that is by nature power pitchers have more trouble with command, especially at this level and below. It would be nice to have another Cowan or a Hilliard type on this staff that can pound the strike zone regularly but it is not the case. But if you remember correctly, we struggled with our Saturday and Sunday starters as well as key guys in the bullpen hitting their spots in both Championship years all the way to or almost to the Sec Tournament. I am not saying that will happen again, but it definitely can.
Evans has been struggling with location of his fastball when he is off and Will struggles with command of his breaking ball. I believe the furthest he has gotten us is 1/3 into the sixth, being last week. If he could stretch his 90-100 pitches into another inning or two, that can be a big difference in a series. Same said for Evans and it might be wishful thinking but If Moore can get 4+, there is another 6 or 7 innings a weekend and problem pretty much works itself out.
Where in Mexico? We were there recently looking.

We are looking at out of country investing. Where did you purchase?
I buy properties in places I want to spend time in my retirement. I have properties in the Mountains and something warmer as well. I rent them out. When I travel there, I write off my flight, car rental and what ever else my accountant ask for, I think even some meals. When our place is rented we even write off our hotel/Airbb.
When we travel elsewhere, we can do the same under our LLC since we are looking for new properties when we do. I have different LLC's for each property.
I can put my money in property as a tax shelter as well. I keep about 2 times as much in other investments but keep a third in rentals. To each there own but properties have probably been my most stable investments.

Seriously?
0.
If coach is putting him in its for a reason. He is not only a better baseball mind than most of this board combined he also has much more data than all of us combined. Not only gametime data but he see's this kid practice and interacts with him.
