We've moved up to 4th place in the conference, two weeks ago we were around 9th, I think.
In the last 10 games since the State series we've given up a total of 29 runs
Hayden Federico

In a previous thread I openly speculated about why this guy was even on the team.
His HS career was good (West Monroe LA) but nothing like an Owen Paino. He hit .337 as a Sr in high school with zero (0) home runs. That's somewhat underwhelming for a center fielder where you expect some power at a bare minimum.
He comes to Ole Miss and immediately starts as a true freshman at DH??? Why?
He hits .243 for the season with 2 HRs.
Begins his sophomore season as our starter in center field. Who did we miss on in the portal that we have to fall back on this guy? :dunno:
Through the State series he's hitting .208 without a HR.
Since then --- in the month of April -- he has done the following:
16 for 28, one HR
.571 average
.700 OBP
.821 slugging %
He has raised his season average to .308

Decker is up to like .275 now. The results are a night and day difference and Ole Miss is 7-1 in conference play since.
Not to mention Hayden Federico. The dude hit like 245 last year with 2 HR or something. And this year through the State series he was hitting around 220.
In the month of April he's hit 600

No.
8-0 now and still batting and Tenner is pitching atrue freshman making his conference debut. They rolled over.
I hope we don't pitch Hooks in the 9th. We can bring in some experimental arms and save him for tomorrow.
We have lost two series. Texas and Miss State.
Two years ago we only won two series all year.
Sweep Tenn tomorrow and go 2-1 against Gawga next weekend and we can start talking about a national seed.

Rebs have outhit Tenner 11-1 to clinch the series. Headed for the sweep tomorrow :pimp:
Ole Miss has now won 8 straight and 10 of our last 11.
7-0 Rebs top 9th still batting with no outs and 5 runs in.

Well, unfortunately, the NCAA actually looks at the D1 rankings when choosing hosts.
Yeah I know. But 16-14 should get the job done as long as we get 6 host sites. Our RPI is more important and we were 8th in the country before last night's win. And our schedule is arguably harder in the back half of the season than the front half. Right now there are only 3 SEC teams ahead of us. Plus Swayze always looks fly on TV with 10,000 plus and the kids in right field. We good.

We could win the series and D1 would probably drop us in the rankings.
Meh. I'm not really worried about the rankings. Go 16-14 and Host and let the chips fall.
Up on Rocky Top starting tonight!

Ole Miss (27-11, 8-7 SEC) has won six games in a row and eight of its last nine games after what seemed to be a low point when it was swept by rival Mississippi State in Oxford. Tennessee (25-12, 7-8 SEC) is riding a five game win streak of its own including a sweep of MSU in Starkville last weekend.
PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUPS
Friday 5:30 p.m. CT
Ole Miss: LHP Hunter Elliott (3-1, 3.69 ERA)
Tennessee: RHP Landon Mack (3-2, 3.75 ERA)
Saturday, 5 p.m. CT
Ole Miss: RHP Cade Townsend (3-1, 2.02 ERA)
Tennessee: RHP Tegan Kuhns (2-3, 3.77 ERA)
Sunday, 12 p.m. CT
Ole Miss: RHP Taylor Rabe (3-1, 3.16 ERA)
Tennesseee: LHP Evan Blanco (3-2, 3.67 ERA)
We are 8-7 at the halfway point. We need to finish 16-14 and no worse than 6th to guarantee a Host spot.
Projected Hosts from East Coast (ACC heavy):
UNC
Coastal Carolina
Virginia
Ga Tech
Fl St
WVA
West Coast:
UCLA
Oregon St
USC
Oregon St???
SEC:
No more than 6 spots for the following 8 teams:
Miss State
Texas
Texas AM
Georgia
Alabama
Auburn
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
Two of these teams will be left out. We have to prevent being swept and win 3 of the last 5 series.
Only 2 of which will be home stands:
Tennessee
Georgia (Oxford)
Arkansas
Texas AM (Oxford)
Alabama
It might come down having to win 2 of 3 in Tuscaloosa on the final weekend to make this happen.
Back to the weekend stand in Knoxville:
Each of our three starters have given up 2 or fewer runs in each of their last two starts. And Hooks has emerged as a dominant closer. We can keep games close.
But we still aren't swinging it well enough to make a post season run. Coming out of the State debacle we were hitting .218 in conference play. Second worse only behind USC. After two decent weekends we have raised that to .242. But we need to be hitting in the .275-.280 range. We draw a high number of walks and hit batters. And our pitchers don't walk many in return.
Should be fun. We need to go 2-1 this weekend. If we go 1-2 here, we essentially have to win 3 of the last 4 series to Host.
Losing that Friday night game to State leading in the 8th and leaving Rabe in instead of bringing in Hooks for the top of the 9th will turn out to be a breathtaking mistake that might cost us a post season position.

It is that close?
I was thinking the same thing.
Until the 90s we played on basically an intramural field with bleachers down each side. I honestly thought it would be like 250 to 100 or something like that.

Look at Air Tractor.
The workhorse is the 602 model which is about $1.8 million.
The larger 802 is about $2.8 million.
The military version with rockets for ground attack goes for about $5-6 million. But who needs rockets? A couple of 20mm cannons in the wings would be massive drone interceptors.
And the chemical spray tank carries 600g of liquid. Convert that to fuel and you're talking about an 8 hour loiter time.
Total operating cost of less than $1000 per hour.

Take your L like a man
I think the whole point of this incident is that this guy couldn't take his L like a man.
I'm generally fascinated by the confusion on who you think they loser is.
52yo man goes into the student section of a home game wearing an opposing jersey. Gets thrown out for starting fights. Comes back. Starts more fights and gets thrown out again. Gets a drink thrown at him. Punches the wrong student. Gets arrested. Spends the night in jail. Will have to face criminal charges, plus an inevitable lawsuit.
And you think the kid who got punched is the loser?
