The city was always a little grimy, but you could avoid all of that by sticking to certain areas. That’s no longer the case. There is no way I would let anyone I care about bang around the city without me. Absolutely not.

I used to love doing shite like this in the city, and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who is more “New Orleans” than me, but I think I’m done. I rarely even go into the CBD, to the dome, warehouse district anymore.
I’ve moved to a gated community to reduce incidents and actively avoid areas whereas before, I used to go everywhere and do everything.
As soon as my daughter graduates and leaves for college, I think I’m out. Maybe I’ll just leave the city, and find someplace on the north shore or in another part of South Louisiana, but I kind of want to leave leave.
I kinda sound like a bitch, but the fatigue is real.

Way too many miles. You can easily get a car with about 15-20k miles on it, still under warranty for that budget. Just be patient and shop nationwide.
