Hear hear. Look at the BS press that came about after one measly double OT win this week. Heaven forbid this con artist goes on a “win streak” (4 games at most) and convinces the powers that be that he’s close to turning the corner when we all know that is not the case. Boomer Sooner, baby!
So in the near impossible chance we finish 3-0, win 3 games in the SEC Tournament, finish 21-14…..you would be upset??
We have a really strange group of fans.

You're proving the point I made about McMahon. There's a large segment of the fanbase who was never going to support him no matter what he did because they're obsessed with the last coach.
This is 1000% accurate. Lots of "fans" were predisposed.

Here is a good way to find out who are basketball fans, and who are the fan boys.
Very strange.
quote:
When Coach Wade was here It gave me a second wind.
Very strange.
quote:
You mean a guy who took over a historically bad program two months before the start of the season facing actual severe sanctions. A program that allowed every (then) current player to transfer out without the HC having access to a transfer portal to immediately replace them. A program that in Drew's first year wasn't allowed to play in the Big 12 tournament. A program that in the coach's 3rd season wasn't even allowed to play non-conference games. It might be kind of difficult to get good players to agree to play for you and play well when their season won't even begin until 2 months after every one else and would be limited to only 17 games. A program who lost several scholarships during those first 4 years.
There is ridiculous. Then there is trying to suggest the circumstances surrounding the Baylor program in Drew's first four seasons where analogous to McMahon's four seasons.
Perhaps with a new coach, and an improvement in the program, a corresponding improvement in the critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills of the LSU fanbase will occur as well. Right now those skills are about on par with McMahon's coaching ability.
That's an interesting narrative, it's funny how we make excuses for some, but not for others. So, knowing that LSU has been a bottom NIL spending team UNTIL this year, that doesn't matter, but sanctions does? It's like people only want to understand the perspective that makes them right.
As long as we're only giving 5-8mil in NIL annually(which is lower-bottom of the SEC), AND you lose your 2 best players(arguably 2 years in a row), you could bring in Dan Hurley. It's not going to matter. Last year, it was reported that LSU spent 2.7mil in NIL. Bottom last in the SEC, the numbers followed.
So McMahon has, by no means, earned the right to coach at LSU next season. Let's be clear about that. However, if he does, the reason they will keep him around is because the admin feels like they haven't given him the resources, and they feel like he's had a run of bad luck. It won't be about money.
re: McMahon endorsed by head of FMOL..safe to say he will be back

This is the same group of people who threw fits after we didn't retain Corey Chest, a guy that can't see any significant minutes for the worst team in the SEC. Those same people years ago wanted Scott Drew to be our head coach...you know the guy that went 31-69(12-52) his first 4 years. Y'all wanted us to use Mulkey to get him.
If he's gone, he's gone. Just let it play out, Jesus Christ.

How is it false? We have 2 SEC wins in 14 games. The only surprise SEC win was against Mizzou. That State blowout at home was embarrassing and looked like a team with zero motivation.
I'm not saying they don't play hard or that they don't like McMahon. I'm just saying that overall, I don't see a super-inspired bunch giving an effort so great that it makes you forget about their overall talent level. It's just not there. The proof is in the record. We had a few games that I thought we played above what I expected, but that is not the norm and we still lost .
We don't excel at anything and aren't clutch. We have no coaching or playing advantages.
I just sent you the reasons why it's false. 2 wins has zero to do with being motivated, and even being motivated doesn't always end in a W. We've lost 6 SEC games by 7 or fewer points. Not having your 2 best players plays a major factor in not getting the wins. There has been moments of lack of motivation, but the same can be said with other teams(Wade and NC State losing by 30 last night). LSU has responded well this year compared to other years. So by you saying that, I'm not sure what games you're watching. We were down 18 last game and made a hell of a comeback and fell short. Guys are diving all on the floor and everything.
Have a little perspective.

Also, the coach does not seem to get the team motivated enough to overcome their lack of star talent.
This is a false narrative, as bad as we are, we at least give 100% if you're watching the games.
The main problem is depth to overcome injury. We have an offense built around the PG, and we lost him. Reece is developing nicely like Miller did last year, but he may leave. We also have bigs who can't stay out of foul trouble and lost our best all around big in Reed early on as well.
Also, we aren't as pathetic as you might think as a team compared to other SEC teams. This is mostly WITHOUT our 2 best players:
Points 10th
FG% 6th
3p% 13th
FT% 4th
Assists 10th
Turnovers 8th
Rebounds 10th
Compare this to last year:
Points 15th
FG% 14th
3p% 16th
FT% 14th
Assists 13th
Turnovers 16th
Rebounds 10th
Statistically, we should be a mid-tier team. We just can't close out games, and have had some really bad turnovers late, in addition to injury.
Before anyone gets bent out of shape, this is 100% on McMahon. If he gets another shot next year(not saying he should), this is why.

ETA: I meant let's go. frick the bullshite. I'm a guaranteed loss, but I'm there.
I'll be 40 this year.
At least you're willing to show, I respect it. Been asking for a TD game for years.

Yea, totally irrelevant, has nothing to do with what I posted and nobody plays zone. Again you’ve just drifted off into this fantasy that’s totally detached from anything I’ve said while asking me to explain to you what I didn’t say. fricking looney tune
My original point was that Sutton was playing hurt, and that's why he was sitting in corners, then you "drifted" it into this. All good man, keep your "straw man" vocabulary in the "pinch post" "on the weak side".

I'd be fine with a basketball game.
Whatever you need to do to avoid an explanation of your opinion.
quote:
He’s just mad I was right about Sutton which is weird because it was a major reason for the win but when you see everything as an attack on McMahon I guess you have to get upset about wins too.
You are a strange little guy. I've already explained the difference between how that can work in a zone vs man to man, but keep doing what you do man. You're not going to run DHO vs zone. I'm giving you visual examples from the game, so I'm not sure what else is needed to prove a point.
quote:
He’s just mad I was right
There's your issue.
quote:
You keep lying and projecting.
You sound like a female.
Engage in the discussion, talk basketball, or I'll move around. I've given you several examples of why I disagree with you. The only thing you can say to it is some bs as usual. I commend you on your attempt to talk basketball though, it lasted a bit, and then now it's back to the same old bs.
quote:
Lmfao, for the greatest basketball person Louisiana has ever known you sure don’t know shite about the game.
Louisiana? Interesting.
Minimize without actually having a conversation about why you disagree.. It's standard for you. The "you don't know shite" takes are getting old man. I wish I had the time or the desire to break the film down more for you to understand, but it's just not that important because you're not looking to learn anything, your mind is already made up. Good luck.
quote:
He’s not “so good off the dribble” which is why you have to start him inside the perimeter if you’re calling his number specifically. You seem to have trouble differentiating between a quick set and our normal offenses but they’re not the same thing and I’m not calling for an overhaul of the offense. And you’re back to doing what you claim you don’t do which is defending McMahon and his 15-44 SEC record as if it’s great. You’re truly a special kind of delusional.
Exhibit A
Do you see how the DHO sets up his game? He's very good off the dribble and again, I'm not sure what games you watch. This is how you get him going. Do you see how the court is spaced? This is what sets up his outside game as well as that shot from the corner. Pinch post does nothing but take away his best trait. It's fine if you disagree.
My philosophy is always an inside out approach, but you get him going by letting him start at the perimeter and use his quickness to finish in the paint. That sets up the rest of his game. This isn't Omaha though, so if you're wanting him to start at the "pinch post" to get himself going, it's not very ideal right now in conference play. Maybe against inferior competition like we started against. I think we both agree he's not best sitting in corners, I just disagree with you.
Not defending any record, as stated twice already. Not sure where you get some of this stuff from. People can have other opinions, they don't have to have yours it's ok.
Oh look, here's another.
Let's see how you try to manipulate and say how what I'm saying isn't factual.
quote:
You also continue to allege that I said put Sutton and Nwoko in a high low game.. I have not, isolating or starting a set with Sutton operating where he’s most comfortable isn’t specifically saying put him in high low. You can isolate him on one side in the pinch post, you can isolate him on the elbow or you can do what we did yesterday which is put him at the 4 where your offense will naturally have him in those positions.
Pinch post is fine for him when he’s flashing there from the perimeter like last night but you don’t want him settling there when he is so good off the dribble, can shoot and is an effective roll man. It limits him in my opinion.
My only point was I personally think we were protecting him rather than mismanaging him. I know you frickers think everything MM does is wrong, but he’s not completely stupid. He was very successful before he got here, like it or not. We can very much win 7-8 more SEC games if we get Thomas back and maybe even a game or 2 in the SEC tournament.
quote:
First off you responded to me so you can drop that lie. Secondly he made one gesture after a block, early vs ATM signaling his arm had discomfort but there’s been no injury. He’s played over 30min per game and is putting up about 10 shots per game in SEC play which is on par for his season averages so cut that BS excuse. Your attempt at big leaguing also doesn’t change the facts.
Right so you didn’t see the cupping marks there too last night? Why is he rehabbing it if he’s not or hasn’t been hurt? I don’t need to attempt to big league a message board. Read what I said, you based your entire argument off of something you thought I said. In fact, I didn’t say anything about a high post offense, plus I gave you reasoning why it isn’t a good idea and man and you have yet to tell me why you think it is. Then you go off about how I’m somehow defending MM when the first thing I said is how underwhelming this year has been for him. It’s comical what you and others do on this board.
quote:
No buddy, you don’t get to misrepresent what I said then claim I’m manipulating things by correcting you. And there are different sets, using one that I didn’t to explain yourself is moot. Sutton isn’t hurt, you continue with that fairy tale and your description of his skill set is incorrect which is why you don’t understand what I’m saying even though it was shown to you yesterday.
I didn’t misrepresent what you said, you tried to respond I said it was ineffective to use a high post set. I did not say that. Go back and look.
Sutton was hurt. I didn’t say he’s hurt right now. Do you not remember the brace he was wearing and him being in discomfort a few games ago? You can do your little bs to everyone else on this board, but that little manipulation bs don’t work on me. As much as you and others love to ridicule someone on a message board I find it funny, because I’ve built a legacy around here that is very well known. I don’t need a message board to validate what I’ve accomplished for basketball in this area, or for my kids for that matter. I am a proud little dribblers coach for my kids. You’ll be more familiar with them here in a few years if you haven’t spontaneously combusted by then. Could care less how anyone feels about it.
