Yeah man, sounds like a productive conversation to sit in front of someone face to face to discuss something where someone gives you lists of coaches as an example and sit there and listen to someone babble about how I’m wrong but can’t provide any evidence. Sounds productive. Plus, all of the times the conversation has shifted from 1 coach to a few coach examples to a bunch of coach examples to “all players” to just 4* and 5* star players. You probably shouldn’t speak in absolutes. Also that was only 1/2 of my issues with Wade, the other half, we haven’t really talked about much. Wonder why that is..anyways, good talk, I can honestly say this conversation has probably been the least productive one I’ve had. On the bright side, I got a new nickname and got called a homie.
Dude quit writing these essays saying the same things over and over again. I’m on one side of the fence, you are on the other, and that’s ok. You can go on about your life now, or is this message board it?
quote:

Google tells you nothing other than what's been officially reported. For instance Duke is clean in a Google search which is laughable in reality.

So you are the end all be all of who must’ve cheated and who didn’t? Your opinion must reign supreme over everyone else’s because you have this supernatural sixth sense of who is dirty and who isn’t. The NCAA could’ve used you before NIL, let me tell you.
quote:

Well at least you got called a homie and a J-Dawg! I got called a dunce. I'm fascinated adults have progressed so far these days. I thought name calling went out in high school.

One of his tactics that he and others use to try to discredit. Even more strange if these folks are older than me(40+). I haven’t been called a homie in literally a decade or more.

If you are/were an EYBL coach, there is ZERO chance I have more knowledge or credibility than you on this subject. But I do have a reasonable understanding of human nature and common sense. Once again, you claim a lot of coaches "do it the right way." I completely get that you're under no obligation to respond, but I would appreciate about a dozen more names, which should be no problem for an EYBL HC. I'm pretty sure McMahon was clean, I'm not talking about him. I'm talking about winners.

An easy Google search is more than acceptable, you don’t need me to tell you these things. Especially when you already think even if they didn’t get into trouble or caught that’s there’s no way they were clean anyway because they got a blue chip prospect to come play for them. Keep that same line of thinking, you’re not going to change your stance even if I gave you 20 names, you will continue to post make believe fantasies how “he must’ve taken money because they got this or that recruit”. I don’t live my life that way man. So let’s just agree to disagree, there’s really no point in me engaging any further because you’re not actually try to understand my perspective.
quote:

Can't you two just call each other and work this out? It'd be a lot faster..

He’s determined to prove himself right. I’ve noticed a lot of people on here do what he’s doing. I guess that’s why they’re replying to me on message boards. Two people can’t possibly agree to disagree without trying to poke holes or make personal attacks. There’s too many emotions at stake with the Wade rehire. You can’t not like him, and still root for LSU. It’s impossible to them.
quote:

No JDawg, there were a lot of coaches that had YOU CONVINCED they were doing it the "right way." Coach K NEVER got his hands dirty. But you can be sure that shite was facilitated for his and the program's benefit. It's well known, especially among your EYBL peers. Why don't you inquire about Duke's "purity" with a few of them? I have. Stevie Wonder can see clearly how filthy basketball recruiting is. But not you, a HC in EYBL!! Nope, it's clean 'round here in Houston. So just to be clear: there are a lot of coaches that do it the right way (your words), and by golly, some of them win. Wright, Few, and Bennett are 3 HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL coaches that you know from experience that are in that category. Three isn't "a lot." How about a dozen more that run a squeaky clean program and win, unlike that scoundrel Will Wade. You CANNOT POSSIBLY be this naive if you have been an EYBL coach for ANY period of time. This is what most likely happened: Wade pissed in your cheerios somehow, and you never forgave him for it. Then you've been "aw shucks" to death by these professional BS artists (college HCs) that know how to make you feel special and think "damn he's a helluva guy." I've met Calipari half a dozen times over the years, and I TRULY am a nobody in the basketball world. He'd always give me a "hey LSU, how ya been" whenever we spoke briefly. You know why he does this right?? First of all, he's always in sales mode at these events, and secondly, he has no clue who I may know now or in the future that may help him in some way. And it literally takes 90 seconds of his time to leave me with a good impression about him. But you know what homie? I don't think your naive, especially if you're truthful about your EYBL experience. I just think you've dug yourself a bit of a hole with this "a lot of coaches do it the right way and Wade is Hitler " bullshite, and your struggling to climb out. If that's the case, just admit it, and all will be forgiven. Also, LSU was top 10 nationally in defense Wade's last year here. Is it possible he was growing as a coach and learning to get better as he matured, especially with the top 5 class he had on the way before Woodterd bent over for the NCAA? One last thing: how good of a coach is Schister at Duke? He was down 11 at the half to a 16 seed. The game was in the balance until the 38th minute. Wade would have lost that one, right?

It’s funny how you paint these people as anti christ and Hitler and go to these extremes when having a conversation with someone, to try to force your own stance. A lot of coaches do it the right way man, if you don’t believe it, then give me hard evidence they don’t. You have zero evidence that every coach has done this, but you’ll die on that hill just for Wade. That’s sweet. Seems like you have way more knowledge and credibility than me. You do realize I knew Wade’s last year they were top 10, that’s why I said almost every one of his teams were atrocious. Can you read? When your whole tenure you sit at the bottom and you have 1 year near the top, that’s just an outlier. Lots of things going on that year too in basketball in general.

John Calpari and Jon Scheyer are very bad examples of squeaky clean or good head coaches. Not sure why either of those names were brought up lol no one’s digging a hole, you’re just making false statements with nothing to back it other than personal attacks to make yourself look right. Plus, it’s only half my reasoning. I guess I can’t have an opinion man, I’m sorry. It’s par for the course that you formulate your opinion based on emotions and not facts, most people do. I’ll be back in the circuit again in the future, please make sure to come say hi and I’ll let you know how my kids’ recruiting experience is going.

I also hope that you’re younger than me calling me a homie, and J-Dawg. That’s really weird man it’s almost as if you’re trying to talk to me a certain way. Maybe not.

What would you estimate the percentage is of top 100 EYBL players who went to school for strictly room, board, and tuition over the years? You've already stated that Few, Bennett, and Wright were squeaky clean. Any other coaches you can think of that won big without illegally recruiting? Your own words are you never said everything was run cleanly. Just estimate the percentage. Also, how did those 3 coaches win so many games, and 2 won titles without resorting to the tactics that Wade and other monsters do? You were a HEAD COACH of a Houston EYBL team for many years, so your estimate should be better than mine. It goes without saying that the anti Christ (Wade) is the worst of them all, so leave him out of the estimate. Also what were the reasons you don't like Wade again? I know you BLEED P&G and are DYING for LSU to win big in basketball, so they must be really good ones

Oh so now you’re asking for my experience? I’m good man lol I’ll tell you I dealt with both sides. There was coaches that knew, and coaches that were blindsided by it. A lot of those things back then were done by family members and boosters directly. There were a lot of coaches that did it the right way, and it’s pretty shitty you want to group Will Wade with everyone else who tried to keep their noses clean.

Go look at Will Wade’s previous roster, notice he had a player from Beaumont on the roster. Also, the president of my company is one of McNeese’s biggest boosters. I know a lot about how he operates. As far as basketball is concerned, I don’t agree with the style he likes to play. I’m not a fan of combo guards playing point guard. I’m not a fan of 5 out unless it’s from a flow standpoint where we end up there, not start there. I like an inside-out approach and I like skilled big men who can work from the block to the perimeter if needed, and not just rim runners and shot blockers. I like 3 level scoring and not entire game plans built around guards attacking the rim. I think having 2 corner shooters is stupid in a 3 point dominant game now and you get caught getting beat in transition, and I think switching everything is stupid. These are reasons I believe why the majority of his teams were atrocious defensively. You’re not going to win shite with bad defensive teams. Period. He also mostly prefers athleticism over skill. I can go on.

So, I would absolutely love for all of this to change this go around, and if it does, I’ll at least change my opinion of him from a basketball standpoint. I just don’t see these philosophies getting us past where we’ve already been. You’ve seen some of the incredible rosters he’s put together, cheating or not. I believe the 2019 team had 5 players eventually on NBA rosters. You can also say that we only made it as far as we did because we didn’t have Wade. I don’t think so. With the roster we had, we should’ve killed Yale(beat them by 2) and we should’ve killed Maryland (beat them by 2).

Why do you think he’s hiring previous head coaches as assistants? Why would an “elite” head coach need that much experience on the sidelines? Think about it.
quote:

So let me get this straight: YOU have been an EYBL coach in the Houston area for many years, and for the most part, things are run cleanly in your neck of the woods in respect to college basketball recruiting??? I got 3 words for you: BULL shite. Or is that 4 words? You are truly a DELUSIONAL person.

I already explained I was with a local organization that got picked up by Houston Hoops the last 2-3 years. I never said everything was ran cleanly, but that’s not why we are having the conversation. You/others asked me why I didn’t like Wade and I gave my reasons. Instead of understanding my perspective and moving on, you are now trying to poke holes in what I’m saying, as if I can’t have my reasons. Definitely assumptive on multiple fronts, but also ignorant because you don’t have any evidence to prove any of this shite you’re saying. Some of you people just have to be right and it’s straight up weird.
quote:

So J-dawg, as a HC of an EYBL team in the 10th largest market in the country (for many years), you ABSOLUTELY have to know DOZENS of big name coaches on a first name basis, correct. And i bet that contact list in your phone is BURSTING with famous coach's phone #s, right?? Ya gotta have Wade's number somewhere in the Ws I would guess?? But it's all by the book there in Texas. Except for Wade of course. Is all that about right? And if you knew JACK shite about how things were run at schools that had the infrastructure for it (like LSU football), you'd know that there is no surprise in coaches "not being involved". It's called DENIABILITY, and having your HC and others insulated from it. Think Johnny or Abernathy under Dale Brown. Or OLOL officials with the LSU football program. Or that patsy on Pitino's staff at Louisville who organized all the hookers and illegal benefits for Cardinal players with DADGUMMIT!! Pitino (a notorious control freak), having NO CLUE what was going on. I would LOVE to treat you to a lunch of your choice, and have you answer (hopefully with a straight face) the MULTITUDE of questions I have for you.

Dude, please stick to the message boards. Any questions you have you can ask on here, but it’s been more than about a decade since I’ve coached in any capacity at that level, outside of individual training. The coach that handled recruiting has passed on from this life. I only coached mostly the class of 2020 and our last Circuit was 2018, I believe. I do find it funny that you now want to blow this completely out of proportion that I gave you examples of these coaches(that you asked for) and you still somehow try to justify that every coach paid players. I just don’t have the time for useless conversation like that. Since you already know the answers for 100% certainty, you don’t need to gain anymore knowledge from people like me man, I’m just a nobody.

I think so, man we had some battles with them. I haven’t been in the mix since about 2019.

They were based in the Woodlands right? We were 409 Elite/SETX Heat then Houston Hoops picked us up the last 2-3 years of the class I was with, that’s awesome lol I’ve still some connections there and I’m hoping they will pick us back up when my boys get involved.
quote:

And about your homeboys Few, Bennett, and Wright: I suggest that you attend an EYBL tournament (they're all over the country), and chat up a few of the coaches. They LOVE to talk shop, especially the assistants. Make sure you inquire about how many programs were clean before NIL. And don't think for a second that under the table payments have ceased to exist just because NIL is a thing now. How do you think programs appease existing players that have a new transfer come in signing huge deals? With a bag of crisp cash, that's how.

I’ve coached for Houston Hoops in EYBL for many years, I don’t need education, but since you have no hard evidence that supports the shite coming out of your mouth, please move around. The “if it happened here, then it happened everywhere” is a radical assumption you’re trying to push only to fit one half of the reasoning I don’t like someone. I gave you examples and you still try you push your weak arse narrative because your opinion is already made up.

By the way, the Vadal Alexander case is a horrible example because they found no coaches responsible at all, only Funes. Do you see how ridiculous your stance is? Lol
quote:

Do you believe in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus as well? This is funny.

Classic case of confirmation bias.
quote:

Yo Jwill, yes or no: Do you believe that zero players on our 2019 football national championship team received illegal benefits to attend LSU and play for that team? If your answer is no, how do you reconcile supporting that team ya know, cuz of your lofty morals and all. Or do you believe it's ok to cheat as long as you don't get caught? And if so, is that ethical? You've dodged this question from me a few times already. Why don't you grow a pair and answer?

I’m not going to make any assumptions, I don’t formulate opinions based on those. If you have evidence that can prove what you’re asking me, please share it and then I will tell you what my opinion is. What’s so wrong about not being contradictory and having morals lol I haven’t dodged anything, I have a life outside of this board.

I get your perspective, but somehow you don’t get mine. Must suck to be so narrow minded.

Oh wait….you actually think coaches like Coach K were 100% honest and above board all the time. Bless your heart.

So that makes it ok? I'm confused. So I should like Wade because he cheated, but every other head coach that's ever been successful cheated so that somehow justifies Wade being a dumbass. You people are something else.

All the faux worry is from ardent McMahon supporters who already had a bone to pick with Wade. Their sophomoric portal takes align with not likening Wade due to perceptions he is a cheat and was operating differently than every other successful program.

Another dishonest comment assuming every coach that has ever been successful has cheated. You people actually claim to be smart?

He was above that before he came back, now that he is back, what did you expect?? Any person that doesn't like any LSU coach is cheering against LSU. Same logic from the same people that talk about low IQ and all that.
