Or repositioning global dependencies to cut off China's nearly free access to energy.

Okay, you're going to have to explain this one. Iran in the ME, guessing you're counting Venezuela as if it's ongoing for SA, Europe?, Asia?
re: I’m cool with us fricking up iran but can we admit this is Israel’s war?

Sometimes the benefit of outcomes align. This benefits Israel regionally, it helps the U.S. from a standpoint of global competition with China as well as removing troublesome leadership.
I am not one to often align with Israel, but in this event both countries strategically benefit.

Because you apparently were too lazy to do it yourself.

We decided to attack in at least January when it became evident that the regime was weaker than ever and knew this would be the best opportunity we’d likely ever get to effect regime change in Iran.
You have any sort of evidence to back this up, any detail you can point to, any meeting where this may have been decided? I might actually be willing to buy it, this always seemed like an eventuality, but "because I said so" isn't going to suffice.

Vietnam veteran predicts Trump will bring a ground war
This guy?
"He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.
The deferments allowed Mr. Blumenthal to complete his studies at Harvard; pursue a graduate fellowship in England; serve as a special assistant to The Washington Post’s publisher, Katharine Graham; and ultimately take a job in the Nixon White House.
In 1970, with his last deferment in jeopardy, he landed a coveted spot in the Marine Reserve, which virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam. He joined a unit in Washington that conducted drills and other exercises and focused on local projects, like fixing a campground and organizing a Toys for Tots drive."
Note, that this came from an NPR article.
Blumenthal misrepresents military service

Iran Hostage Crisis : Iranian students seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding 52 Americans hostage for 444 days.
Beirut Barracks Bombing: Hezbollah, backed by Iran, bombed the U.S. Marine barracks in Lebanon, killing 241 U.S. service members.
U.S. Embassy Bombing in Beirut: A suicide attack killed 17 Americans.
Kidnapping of Americans in Lebanon: Hezbollah kidnapped several Americans, including CIA station chief William Buckley, who was killed in 1985.
Khobar Towers Bombing: Iran-backed Hezbollah Al-Hijaz was responsible for the truck bombing of a U.S. Air Force housing complex in Saudi Arabia, killing 19 U.S. service members.
Iraq War: Iran-backed militias killed 603 U.S. service members with advanced roadside bombs (EFPs).
Missile Attack on Ain al-Asad Air Base: Following the killing of Qasem Soleimani, Iran launched ballistic missiles at a base in Iraq, causing traumatic brain injuries to over 100 U.S. personnel.
Drone Attack on Tower 22: Kataib Hezbollah killed three U.S. soldiers in Jordan and wounded over 40.
Between October 2023 and November 2024, Iran and its proxies conducted over 180 attacks against U.S. forces in the Middle East, wounding over 180 service members.
So, which side is "negotiating" in bad faith again? Since 1979 Iran has been responsible for taking thousands of American lives. That negotiations were still even on the table should be shocking.

The D primary in my district is going through this. The primary challenger is a muslim that has been on the attack of the incumbent (Valerie Foushee) for taking money from AIPAC.
Unfortunately, they are both awful candidates and one of them will be my representative, because for some reason they carved out a weird spot in the map where they include my area with Durham. Durham votes so deeply blue that there isn't even a primary for the R candidate in the district and it's a conceded race.

See Beth Dutton as an example. No one acts like that with impunity.
The closest comparison to anyone acting like they do on TV is my sister. She's a belligerent, manipulative a-hole who anytime your around her she tries to stir shite or create some sort of chaos. She's also a successful executive. But even then, she's definitely more toned down than Beth Dutton.
And you're right, no one acts that way with impunity. Everyone in the family keeps a distance from her. My kids even forgot her name and that I even had a sister until we had some family events where we were required to be in the same space. I think I've seen her or talked to her maybe a handful of times over the last 10 years. Each time without fail, some sort of drama would follow that would have the family spinning.

Just pointing out that Oregon is all mail in voting. There is no in-person voting permitted.
There isn't even a way for voters to oust the leadership there even if they wanted to.

One thing you can give credit to these countries for, is opportunism. At this point, their strategy is looking at how things are going and saying "may as well get on the good side of the U.S. and lob some bombs at those assholes"

Since November 4, 1979 this was always going to be the eventual outcome. Only thing that was worth guessing was when.

Last week I drank a bar out of Blatz. Granted, it was the local VFW so they have Blatz, Hamms, and Old Style on tap.
Some rust belt classics there. It's been a minute since I've had a Blatz or Hamm's. Naturally, growing up where I did, large amounts of Iron City were consumed over the years. Genesee Cream Ale was another popular one back in the day.

I always liked Rolling Rock until they sold out to Budweiser and they closed the brewery in Latrobe. They moved production to New Jersey of all places.
Another small western PA beer that I like is Stoneys. Shirley Jones family was and I think still is the owners.

I grew up with dachshunds, my parents had three of them over the years. They are mean as all hell. They were bred to hunt badgers, you need a savage attitude for that.
Have to admit, I’m not a fan of them.

When things were tight I used to get six packs of these at JD’s in Tuscaloosa for $1.69. Cheapest buzz I could find.

re: Can we revisit the wonderful insanity of the NFT era?

Hard to imagine that a market that trades in items with no underlying value other than its own manufactured scarcity would crash under it's own weight.
I read recently that the NFT that Justin Bieber purchased for $1.3 million (Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT #3001) is now worth about $12,000.
I can't imagine why it's still even worth that much money.

re: So when does China move a 200 million man army to the Mid East?
Posted by RolltidePA on 3/2/26 at 11:03 am to prplhze2000
Not how China operates. If China were to take any action at all, you can guarantee that it would be through a proxy. They prefer to play the long game and financially rot counties through their infrastructure.
They also aren't an ally in the traditional sense, if an action doesn't directly benefit them, you are on your own. They'll simply find another solution.
Now that oil is going to hard to get from Iran, since Canada was stupid enough to partner with them, look for China to start squeezing the hell out of the Canadians for their resources. They'll be putting big pressure on them soon.

I don't hate Massie, but one thing it always boils down to with Libertarians is they lack any sort of pragmatism.
Do I love that shite is going down with Iran? No. But this was always going to be the eventual outcome. Best to take care of it now while we have an administration that's seems to swiftly handle affairs like this.
