Post your email and I’ll send you a message - I have a boat that may check all of your boxes.

re: U-Cart Concrete

Posted by swm0105 on 2/27/17 at 12:29 pm to
Just order a short load from a concrete supplier ($300), rent a georgia buggy ($150) and knock it out in an hour.

Otherwise break your back with quickcrete.

I spoke to the owner of U-cart not long ago and he indicated that he shut the business down. I don't recall his reasoning, but his pricing for using his equipment may not have been much better than the alternates.

Work smarter, not harder.

re: Hospital stays?

5 months here (2 ICU, 3 rehab hospitals) - Guillain Barre syndrome, fully paralyzed from head to toe, couldn't even blink my eyes for 3 1/2 months. Ventilator 2 months. It took another year to learn to walk, gain strength back and then progress to running again.

3 years later and I'm doing pretty much just fine. I've completed a few sprint triathlons since my recovery with my goal this year to complete an Olympic distance tri.

The only time I go back to the hospital now is to thank the ones who took care of me and to speak with others suffering from this aweful illness.

You couldn't pay me enough to be a nurse, they are such forgiving souls, and all they want to do is help you in your most struggling moment.
Cafe Genevieve - good food and has a connection back to Lafayette through one of the owner's from what I remember. Try their pig candy, awefully good treat.

Thai Me Up - this place has fantastic food and drinks.

Osteria - Italian restaurant in Teton Village is pretty good.

Couloir - Which is on top of Teton Mountain is unbelievably good. You have to take a gondola up there so the view and experience are off the charts too. Prepare to drop some coin on this dinner but it's worth it.

Snow King Resort - has a nice sports bar in it, standard issue grub, beer and TVs. They do have live music there from time to time too.

Along the drive between Jackson Hole and Teton Village there are a few places that are supposed to be good too. I'm not sure about another sports bar other than the one at the Snow King. I'm sure there are, but I just didn't pay much attention to them while we were there.

That entire area is a food junkie's paradise, wish we were back up there.

re: Any adults ever have mono?

Posted by swm0105 on 5/25/16 at 9:52 am to
I had mono back in 2013, it wasn't too bad but the Guillain Barre that it transformed into was a real bitch.

Good luck!

Does anyone have a solution to "restore purchase" on the LSU Sports App?
nope, not that I'm aware of.

Mozilla Firefox - Enable Javascript

Posted by swm0105 on 2/15/16 at 11:01 am
I've updated to Firefox 44.0.2 and ever since then I keep getting a notification that Javascript must be enabled to view the content of the webpage.

I've looked as far as I'm capable and can't seem to figure this issue out.

Can anyone assist with this problem of mine?
guillain-barré syndrome

2 months ICU, another 3 months in rehab hospital(s).

Paralyzed from head to toe for months, had to learn how to walk/run/everything/etc again.

Now going on two years recovering.

Mono is what triggered it.

I would have gladly taken just the mono portion of the illness.

Thank you all, I now have a much better understanding of doing this.

Outdoor Kitchen A/V

Posted by swm0105 on 3/31/15 at 8:44 am
I am in the process of building an outdoor kitchen at my house and would like to know the best way to connect an outdoor TV to an indoor receiver.

The wire run will be approximately 40 feet.

I've read a bit online that there could be some signal loss with that long of HDMI cabling - is this true?

Would there be any noticeable delay between the picture and the sound since I'm intending on sending the audio to surround speakers?

Thanks for the help.

I just walked out my back door and the course is drying out nicely. We got just a light sprinkle yesterday afternoon but they're calling for another slight chance of rain later today.

All in all, the course is as good as it could be for this time of year.

Try not to hit my house when you tee off on #15, I would appreciate it.

Enjoy your round.

re: Has Anyone Here Been To Bermuda?

Thanks for the replies!

We won a trip there staying at either (or both) at the Fairmont Hamilton or Southampton.

I'm planning on getting a little golf in, but outside of that, we're leaning on you.

Has Anyone Here Been To Bermuda?

Posted by swm0105 on 12/14/14 at 1:07 pm
We are planning a trip there next summer and are looking for advice on things to do, sites to see, from anyone who's been there before.
My wife kept her last name only as it reads on her medical license (md) to not confuse all of the credentialing requirements, etc.

From a personal standpoint she took my last name as it reads on her drivers license.

It really makes no difference whatsoever UNTIL I'm called "Mr. Insert her last name here".
You can Google it Guillian-Barre Syndrome

I apparently had Mono for a few weeks leading up to the GBS starting. In my case as my immune system fought the Mono, it became confused and ultimately it attacked the insulation of my peripheral nervous system (everything outside of your brain and spinal cord).

I felt a little more tired than usual toward the end of the day, and I started having headaches which was pretty unusual for me. I figured I was just showing signs of being a father of a newborn that wasn't sleeping through the night yet.

I have a slight amount of nerve damage in my face, similar to Bell's Palsy. I've got two left feet in terms of strength/coordination. I still suffer from some pretty significant neurological pain in my feet. Since I don't have your typical sensation one would have in their feet, when is close my eyes I tend to lose my balance pretty easily. This is from a loss of a fixed focus point I need in order to not lose my balance.

The one thing the doctors always told me was that I would have a complete recovery, unfortunately they would never link a duration of time their prognosis. I sometimes thought to myself that they were full of shite, but then again I needed to focus on any and everything positive in nature when I was laying there trapped in my brain.

For the most part they have been right so far, we'll see how things progress over the next 2 months, but quite frankly if my recovery stopped today I would still rejoice knowing how it felt being crippled in my custom wheelchair.

When I see a handicapped person now, I look at them in a different light. I'm not sure how to explain it, but before I would never really see anyone handicapped. Perhaps that was me running through life too fast, or maybe having the "it won't happen to me" mentality.
Coping with the physical loses was one challenge, but the mental aspect was beyond words. By comparison I would equate it to being buried alive.

Although I was paralyzed, I could still feel the pain of having every nerve attacked by my own immune system. My brain was unaffected so I could hear the ongoing discussions and they would try and have me communicate through the use of a letter board -- I think I could move my head slightly when they pointed to a letter I wanted. They put some sort of Vaseline in my eyes to protect them since I couldn't blink, that also contributed to the psychological bear I battled with.

For some reason or another my body temperature sky rocketed, at least it felt like my body was on fire so I was packed in ice the majority of my stay in the ICU.

The illness was obviously the focus point, but the ancillary complications of the medications (side effects), prolonged use of a catheter, aspirated pneumonia, ICU psychosis and muscle atrophy were equally debilitating.

At the beginning I was 36yo, 6', 186lbs, by the time I got home I weighed 134lbs. To make matters a little more difficult my wife and I had a 9 month old at home.

There is never a good time for someone to "get sick", but experiencing this has completely changed my outlook on life. Looking back before I'd get frustrated over the smallest of things, oh how life can teach you a valuable lesson.

We are all such a vulnerably sensitive existence.
Just over a year ago, July 13, 2013, I was admitted to the ICU with a severe case of guillain-barre syndrome. I went from being perfectly healthy on a Wednesday and by Saturday I was paralyzed from the knees down. By the middle of the following week I was on a ventilator. Ultimately I was paralyzed from head to toe, couldn't even blink my eyelids for roughly 2 months. I spent another 3 months after that in the hospital and was finally released to go home the day before Thanksgiving, still bound to a wheelchair.

I've had to re-learn EVERYTHING, but as of today I'm doing pretty well all considering how far I had to come.

I'm told it takes 12 months from the first signs of recovery, needless to say I'm looking forward to mid September.

Thanks for the insight, I think we're going for the club level.

Let's hope for a safe trip, a "W" and a hell of a good time...nothing like a father & son(s) trip to kick off the new season!

Thanks again!

Wisconson Game - Seating Question

Posted by swm0105 on 4/21/14 at 3:00 pm
Given the option, would you rather sit in "Field Level Prime II" or the "Verizon Wireless Club II" seats?

I've obviously never personally witnessed a game at Reliant Stadium, so feedback from anyone who has is welcomed.
