The last Ivory Billed Woodpecker I saw (we used to call them wooden-nannys when I was a kid) was in the Bogue Chitto swamp in Washington Parish, near Enon, back in the early to mid 70's. There was a pair nested near the top of a very large, dead, cypress tree in the middle of the swamp. So I know for a fact that it did not die off when they say, though it may have left us now. Who knows?

Not if you buy a used one. I retired 3 years ago, sold everything, bought a low mileage used motorhome and hit the road. It was the best decision we ever made. We live on about 1/3 of what it used to cost us to live in our stick and brick home in Abita Springs and are enjoying traveling the country visiting places I couldn't see while I was working 6 days a week. The nice thing about buying an older one is that it has already depreciated, so if you sell it later (if you upgrade or later decide this lifestyle is not for you) you will get most if not all of your money out of it as long as you keep it up. We bought our 1999 36" National Tropical with only 28k miles on it for $15k from PPL (a consignment sales facility) in Houston.
