I came very close to making a "hot take" prediction that Ruckert ends the season as our starting 2B.

I'm with you here. Dardar has really cooled off since his hot start (can say that about almost the whole lineup right now). And Dardar's defense leaves a lot to be desired.

What don't you understand?

If you refer to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette as UL instead of ULL on this board, someone will ALWAYS correct you either by making a Louisville or USL reference.

EVERYONE knows who LSU is playing tonight. Most of us are going to the game.

If this is a troll job, I tip my hat because you got me. If this isn't, I hope you're not operating heavy machinery any time soon.

Bold statement considering Ruiz is in the league.
I had a ULL fan yesterday tell me he basically got his season tickets paid for after he sold his tickets for this game.

Either way, :geauxtigers:
While I'm far from panic mode, the problems in the last few games are more than "it's just baseball". I have full faith and confidence in Jay and the staff to figure out what is going on and rectify it, but this funk they have been in for the past week is hard to watch.

Every baseball team goes through a stretch like this and the good ones find a way to work out of it. History tells us we will eventually change course and get rolling again.

Doesn't change the fact that we gave up 13 runs to Northeastern. Pitching and defense let us down big time yesterday.

I'm being very facetious here because I know it won't happen, but it would be fun to see Guidry start Wednesday at ULL. Just his demeanor on the mound in that environment would be very entertaining.

The only concern I have regarding Evans is when it rains it seems to pour on him.

Yes, seems like one "bad" inning per game that sort of overshadow the rest of his performance.

The only way to stop that in the future is to let him learn how to work through it.

I actually think Jay is doing a good job of letting him pitch through it. Thought he came back nicely after that weird inning against Indiana and settled in.

Anyone else notice how nice is windup is now?

Yes, that is the first thing I noticed on Friday. A lot more relaxed and not as jerky.

Re-evaluate in two weeks?

I like where we are at pitching wise.

Just need a few more pieces to come together. Sheerin and Guidry are automatic right now out of the pen, with Rizy not far behind.

Guys like Williams, Plog, Dathe, Noot, and Cowan I think will be the next tier to take a step forward.

If we can get one or two of Paz, Ricken, Garcia, Lachemeyer, and Fontenot to gain some consistency, then we are set.

Plenty of time to figure it out but these last two weekends were a major step forward.

He ended up being pretty solid for us.

Jay Johnson's homework assignment

Posted by sportsfan on 3/2/26 at 9:06 am
Jay gave us some homework in his postgame interview. He said go look at the lines for Kade Anderson's 2nd and 3rd start of last year and compare it to Evans'.

Kade:
5.1 IP, 3 Hits allowed, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
5.1 IP, 3 Hits allowed, 2 ER, 3 BB, 10 K

Casan
5.0 IP, 3 Hits allowed, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
5.1 IP, 2 Hits allowed, 2 ER, 3 BB, 10 K

So maybe Jay knows what he's talking about?

Really want to see more of Ricken.

Also would like to see how Cooper Williams looks in a starter role. Maybe start him Wednesday against the Cajuns.

Now here's some tinkering. Let's Geaux

So we are playing “hide the 2nd baseman” again like we did with Dugas?

Milam was playing 2nd with the lefty there
It’s not the hits that are getting him in trouble, it’s the free bases.

Is Curiel nicked up or just getting a day off from playing the field?
He's been pitchering really well this year.
