Is this the guy that was basically harassed by the game wardens who were coming in setting cameras and checking him way too often?

Yes. And if you know Tom, you know he's a law-abiding citizen. Nice guy that you probably couldn't force to break a game law.

A 458 lott pushes a 500gr bullet at something like 2200 fps.

A 12ga 3.5" heavy TSS is moving 2.5 Oz (1094gr of shot, add a wad to that )@ 1000 fps. More than double the weight of a heavy 458 lott load.

3.5" 12ga shells are STUPID amounts of recoil. Its horrible.

Pretty sure 3.5" TSS loads are about 3x the recoil of a 300win mag

Which was dumb. Kenseth was extremely consistent that season. I looked it up: 1 win, 11 Top 5s, 25 Top 10s, an average finishing position of 10.3, and only 2 DNFs.

He earned the championship, even if he only had one win.

I agree. That's why I never understood why they changed the points system, but they did because they wanted to put more focus on wins.
Matt Kenseth dominating the season points while only winning one race caused them to change the points system. Started to die after that.
To find out how many longbeards are on a property so that you don't shoot too many, I can see where that would be useful.

To use cameras to aid in killing turkeys is for losers

not a big fan of food from new gas station in town.

The main cook there came from the exxon in bude. They stole her when they opened.

Shell station has gone to shite. 1988-2000 was peak (locals call that place Gaslane). Now you never know if they are gonna have food or not. The gal will fry chicken from 8am-9am and then when it's gone she just sits on her arse and says "we outs" if you ask for something.

I really don't see any benefit to leaving a riffle in the stand unless they're having to army crawl 2 miles on the way in.

I have never known someone to leave a rifle in the stand. What kind of people would do that?

I would just be surprised a reptile surviving 5 ft in the air in single digits.

I agree with you. I know the snakes build a fire to stay warm when it gets cold.

Make it big enough so you can take your son's shoes off and put them in a corner out of the way as soon as you get in to keep the noise from him kicking the walls all day down to a minimum.
Full Rut Meat Shop in Walker makes the best snack sticks I've ever had. They are pricey, so it's the only thing I don't make myself. Every time I have got some from there they have been awesome. Had some from Tramonte's last week someone gave me and they were ok. Not terrible.

What you are seeing is what others are seeing, and it's pretty on-time for SW MS. It happens every year.

They still aren’t hitting my corn??

Deer don't have to eat corn. Even when you kill a deer at a feeder if you cut his stomachs open you'll see corn only makes up single-digit percentage of the total diet in most cases.
Great job TL. You are doing the Lord's work teaching those boys. He'll be talking about that day when he's 75 yrs old driving his grandson to school.

In my experience, there is a very little chance any big deer gets killed by a still hunter in an area where dogs are used heavily.

In my experience, you are full of shite. We've killed a pile of big deer and there have been dog hunters around us for 50+ years (including a couple years in the 90s when we had a guy in the club with dogs. We'd run on our lease a few times a year.

Dog's don't mess up hunting nearly as much as people riding their side by side to their stands every day and around property putting out 100lbs of mo-buck every few days. Dogs in the woods chasing deer is 100x more natural than the woods smelling like beer farts and sounding like a racetrack.

I reckon you owe the chap a nice glove....at least.

Also, this is definitely the right board to discuss this life event. A lot kinder and more understanding souls on the OB.

Tell him you don't know what they cost but would give $500 -600 probably. See what he says.

Third hunting death to lighting this year to go with the Colorado elk hunters

5th this year, two hunters along with their two dogs were killed last month in Florida.

Terrible though. I can only hope that people take a better respect for weather out of all this.

About 50 people in the US die from lightning every year. Single digit deaths per year from venemous snakes.

Damn good britches, especially if you are like me and only buy whatever color is on sale on Amazon in a given week. There's always one color that's $10-15 cheaper.
