+1 on the diesel.
Pour a little bit on the base and within a week to ten days you can pull all of the fronds up out from the heart.

Dr. Charles Allen is the person is vernon parish that does all the registry work. He is a botanist at ft. polk and has a natural vegetation/outdoor bed and breakfast in Cravens. He does a lot of the work and he gets his summer temp staff to be on the look out when in the field.

35 bucks a foot skinned, 8ft and up, has been the best price so far this year. the price will probably bump up a bit come september. it always seems to go up about 5 bucks per foot once the gator season gets underway.

Awesome pics. Love seeing the woodrows and whistlin duck babies in the spring around the crawfish ponds. You can normally catch all of them you want on the first couple of nights of frog season. But my favorite to see is to be out running a bayou looking for frogs and have momma and the whole pile swim out into the middle and then swim strait in front of you as you pass through. She always pulls the broken wing trick and the chicks look like a deer in the headlights.

I believe the state record is somewhere in the 16 lb range. Ive weighed a few, but the largest was only 13 lbs. You would think some of those bastards are at least 20.

So im updating my netflix que:
Previous top six:
1. The Bridge on the River Kwai. No explanation needed.
2. A History of violence. Wanted to see it since the previews first came out. Plus i hear there is some hot maria bello bush action.
3. True Romance. Dont know how i havnt seen this one
4. The A-team. Loved the series. Heard the movie was at least worth the watch.
5. The Sting.
6. Lawrence of Arabia. As much of a classic as this is I have no knowledge of any spoilers.
Added.
1. Arsenic and Old Lace. Had heard of it, was the most recommended movie.
2. Witness for the prosecution. Thanks for the suggestion Freauxzen
3. Guess who's coming to dinner. Sidney P. is awesome.
4. Captain Blood. My surprise pick. No knowledge of the movie, only seen one Errol Flynn flick prior.
5. Mr. Smith goes to Washington. One of my top favorites. Havnt seen it in a few years.
Once again, thanks for the suggestions. Ill try to get to all of them and keep everybody posted.

Thanks guys. I guess i should have been more specific. We have internet but not enough bandwith to stream. We have tv's but no cable or local channels etc.
Lot of good suggestions on these lists. Ive seen a few, heard of a few others, and some will be complete surprises.
In the last week ive only watched two, but they've been quality: North by Northwest and 12 Angry Men.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Recomend classic movies to watch
Posted by longtimealter on 4/6/12 at 12:47 am
So i am in a place where i can not stream anything and there is no tv. Figured its a good time to catch up on the classics. I am mostly looking for anything before 1970. Ive watched a lot of the action/adventure type movies and ive got most of the "a" list classics qued up. What are some good lesser known classics to watch? Thanks for the help.
re: anyone here ever caught a skunk, tips needed
Posted by longtimealter on 1/31/12 at 9:32 pm to 318Tiger Fan
How close do you live to a body of water. A mink is much more likely to remove just the head of its prey than a skunk.
As far as killing a skunk, it all depends on what type of area/neighborhood you live in.
Look for these type of places as skunk habitat in urban areas: a rundown building, a pile of trash, a building with a bottom floor that has outside access, an isolated brusy area, or a culvert that is isolated that doesnt normally get water in it.
As far as bait, think about using freshly sifted dirt, and a commercial lure that has a lot of skunk essence.

Check the laws first. In most cases it is illegal to catch and release a raccoon in La.

re: Do you want there to be more Harry Potter books?
Posted by longtimealter on 7/12/11 at 9:55 pm to Tigertown in ATL
A prequel would be awesome, but what i really want to see is something in the 19 years after.
Most importantly, I need to see Delores Umbridge get hers. I mean really get hers, not just being implied that she got raped by centaur looking mofo's. I need to see her turning tricks on Daigon Alley. Could you imagine Hagrid paying like 5 bronze knuts to bust a nut on her face. Awesome.

also, to legaly sell the meat you must have a usda approved facility complete with x-ray capabilities.
it is highly doubtfull that joe blow would have this ability to sell the meat.

no. gator meat is going for 5 to 10 bucks a lb right now depending upon grade, freshness, quality, etc..
the tail off a 7ft gator will yield about 8lbs of edible meat. you will get a about that from the entire rest of that gator.
"your buddy" is jerking your chain.

Go to wet areas in bottomland hardwood forests and flip over decaying logs and rocks in late winter and spring to find salamanders.
Juvenile newts are aquatic. This spring I found tons of them at lake martin with a dip net.

Call the Baton Rouge 24 hr hotline (18004422511). Tell them you have a gator problem, they will give you a complaint number and the contact info for the local nuisance hunter. He will show up and take care of the problem.
