re: Radio upgrade for '09 Silverado
Posted by yudaman on 1/11/26 at 9:33 am to SouthernInsanity
I have the same issue and I know this is very common. I'll probably replace mine as well at some point. There is a guy around Houston that sells them through Facebook. Pretty sure the dashes come out of Mexico, but they appear to be good quality from what I've read in the comments. Cost is around $400 if I remember correctly, which is way cheaper than getting one from a dealer - assuming you can even still order one.

Crutchfield is the DIY answer unless you want to pay someone else and have access to a reputable car audio shop.
I bought a 2013 Silverado for my son a few years back and knew I wanted to upgrade the stereo and speakers. I ordered everything through Crutchfield for the upgrade (except for the backup camera) - speakers, powered JBL sub, and head unit. I actually added the JBL basspro nano compact sub a bit later, which I mounted under the rear. That little guy sounds incredible.
For the head unit, I originally ordered an Alpine double-din, but it took forever to start up after cranking the vehicle, and I could never get the steering wheel controls to work correctly. So I sent it back and exchanged it for a Sony XAV series headhunt, which starts up almost instantly. The quick start-up time is important/convenient simply because it allows the backup camera (also installed this myself) to work when you crank the vehicle put the car in reverse. The Alpine's very slow startup means you have to wait several seconds for the head unit to power up fully before putting it into reverse so you can see the backup camera image on the screen.
So in summary, I ordered/installed a Sony XAV series head unit, JBL speakers for front and rear doors, JBL tweeters to replace factory front pillar tweeters, JBL Basspro nano, and an aftermarket rear camera that was integrated into the tailgate handle (Amazon).
It took a few hours to wire everything up with a little help from Crutchfield support (world class awesome!) and Youtube. It sounds 1000x better than stock and modernized the truck by adding a backup camera and Apple CarPlay. That was 2 years ago and everything is still working great.

Amen and Merry Christmas!
I just did the same a few weeks ago. I ordered this Shaw threaded barrel form Primary Arms, but I see they are currently out of stock.
LINK
It installed without any issue, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I also ordered and installed the BX trigger, which is nice.

Awesome buck! Congrats my man.
I'll cast another vote for Garmin. I have an S70 because I wanted to use it for Golf and fitness tracking. If you're not a golfer, Garmin offers more suitable options for much cheaper.
The battery life across the Garmin line is absolutely incredible - 2 weeks on the S70 easily with a couple rounds of golf and daily workouts sprinkled in. I threw my Apple Watch in the drawer and never looked back.

Same story as everyone else that has reported this issue. Interestingly enough, I don't get it when I use Firefox - only Safari.
Some say Creapure can help if "regular" creatine causes stomach issues, but it's never bothered me. I do know that the creapure variety is significantly more expensive.
I've been taking creatine off and on for 30 years and have never had any stomach issues with it. Some do, so you'll have to experiment to find what brand/dosage/schedule works for you. I take 10g/day with water - usually with breakfast. It's micronized (consistency of powdered sugar), so it blends easily with water and is almost tasteless.
I'm currently taking the "It's Just!" brand from Amazon. I also like the Sports Research brand.

It has absolutely nothing to do with perspective. It's all about spending less than you earn. A large percentage of people simply refuse to exercise any degree of financial discipline. They get a raise at work and immediately find something shiny they can't live without.

You get 4 streams from TV and 1 from VOD (movies/shows) by default. There is an upgrade package that allows for more VOD streams. You just pay a yearly fee per additional VOD stream.

I'm very impressed as well. Still tinkering, but I think this one is a keeper.
Lots of LSU programming interest in the Discord chat. I can't imagine why

Would you mind sending me an invite please sir. I'm currently doing a trial with another provider due to this YTTV/Disney fiasco, but I'm not sold on it. I'd like to give your guys a shot.
ETA: Got it. Thank you sir!

Congrants my man! Nice buck.
I've got to put something down this weekend. I'm officially out of ground meat in the freezer and my wife is giving me the stank eye.
BTW, let me know if you need some help with those pesky Nilgai. I can be there in 3 hours.

I shot a sika doe a few years back on New Year's Day near Rocksprings, TX. I'll always remember that hunt because there was 3-4 inches of snow on the ground, which is very rare for that area. Really fun hunt and good eatin' for sure.
Let 'er rip

Athletic Upside Down Golden is by far my favorite of all the N/A's I've tried.
Alright then :geauxtigers:
Not quite an OG, but I'm pretty sure I set up my first account in 03. So technically, I'm using an alter as I type. Of course, an "alter" back then was typically someone like me who just forgot their password. Password managers weren't as prevalent as they are today, so you just set up a new account and moved on.
I rarely post (especially on the OT), but I've been a faithful daily reader for over 20 years

I bought a Sun Mountain 4.5 LS about 2 months ago. Loving it so far.
