China — which has long backed the regime in Tehran — has a key interest in the Strait being reopened, with Beijing being the largest buyer of Iranian crude. The blockade directly cuts off that supply and potentially has a far-reaching impact on the Chinese economy.

Interesting, I was just talking about this very thing last week and certain posters said China would continue to get all the oil they wanted from Iran.

I think it’s definitely a notable advantage, but not necessarily unfair.

Right, not unfair but very lame and Rory is lame for doing it. It cheapens his win and makes him look like a dweeb tryhard.

This, along with a host of other issues, is causing the Masters to lose its prestige.

OKC now has a pretty easy road. Only need to beat one real team to make the Finals. (Den/ SA/ Min)

Yep, looking forward to it. Still can’t explain why the Spurs sold that game on purpose.

Unless they think Minnesota will beat the Nuggets anyway and they have a better shot against them. But that’s a lot of assumptions.

They could have also forced OKC to play Denver in round 2. There’s no good explanation for losing that game intentionally.

Spurs are dumb, thought they could win against Denver’s C team without Wemby.

They panicked at the end and still couldn’t win with all their starters in.

Hopefully Denver can get past Minnesota, would love to watch a Spurs/Nuggets series.
quote:

We have shifted from that to sitting anybody with significant rotation minutes.

The game is a lot more physically demanding today.
quote:

Wemby didn’t just play but he got a double double and 30 points. Please just shut up

???

He played because he hadn’t hit 65 games yet. Never said anything about his performance. Simmer down big guy!
San Antonio might punt as well since they can’t get the 1 seed now. Wemby played tonight but only because he was still ineligible for postseason awards.
Just turned the game on and it’s apparently Gay Night in Denver.
OKC already locked up the 1 seed, so them sitting everyone is understandable.

Denver is tanking to avoid Minnesota in the first round. That’s much worse.

will look to us

And then waayyy way down at the end of the sentence I said "to supplement."

Can you at least admit that those countries would look to import more oil from the U.S. if mideast exports are affected? Is that a wild idea to you?
quote:

You did, above.

No, I never said we could "unilaterally" fill the void. YOU used that word. I insinuated that we've positioned ourselves well in case those countries need to supplement.

And you still didn't answer the question. What do you think my point was?
quote:

You've done two pivots in a row to get back to your original point that you just distanced yourself from.

Real quick, what do you think my original point was?
quote:

Well then explain what your point was, exactly.

The amount of handholding you require is embarrassing.

Friendly countries who rely on Mideast oil will look to us if supply is affected. That’s a really short walk to put those things together, thought it went without saying.
quote:

We can't unilaterally make up the gap for many reasons.

Who said we could? It’s not an all or nothing game.
quote:

And yet, they only closed it when the US/Israel started a war preemptively.

Something literally all of the world knew would happen, except the US, apparently.

Damn, they closed the strait where India, Japan, and South Korea get most of their oil and lng? That’s unfortunate.

Totally unrelated, did you know the U.S. is now the largest oil producer in the world, and the largest exporter of lng? What a crazy coincidence.
quote:

That Q-anon type of “trust the process” crap

That’s not what this is at all. Here’s a video that breaks it down really well:

Why the oil crisis is good
quote:

Ahhh it’s always 7d underwater backgammon

No it’s pretty basic posturing.
quote:

We want the strait open.

Do you take everything at face value? Do you think we’re at war because Iran might get a nuke?
quote:

So China got as many barrels of oil in the month of March as they averaged over the last year.

Defensive stockpiling. They know they’re screwed if imports from Iran dwindle.
quote:

Holy shite

You don’t have a very good understanding of this issue. You’re looking at the surface level instead of deeper implications and strategies, which are purposefully less obvious.

There’s a lot more at play here than most people realize.
quote:

Did this happen?

Yes, you have to pay attention.

Look at how strategic the U.S. was with taking out Maduro and the Ayatollah. They showed they can do whatever they want, anywhere and anytime.

But when it comes to the strait of Hormuz they’re throwing their hands up and saying oh well, I guess Iran says it’s closed.

We could open it up whenever we want. None of the oil going through that strait comes to the U.S., most of it goes to China. They’re screwed, we’re not. The worst that happens here is gas is $3.50 instead of $2.50. But China has an actual supply problem if the strait is closed. Real chaos, not just more expensive gas.
