re: Canada set to surpass 100,000 assisted suicides — more than the country’s WWII death toll

Out of that stack of passports Epstein had, was one of them Canadian? It could have been a government assisted suicide.

Let this thread serve as a reminder that in real life fires don't cause skyscrapers to collapse into their own footprint. Nor do plane strikes.
I mean it would have been so easy to use explosives on the buildings. Anyone that has ever been associated with doing an implosion knows you can call up an order one in just a few hours. No visible wires or explosives are required. No long prep work or internal wall removals. Just put a couple of small fire cracker sized devices under a few places and 30 minutes later, there you go. Take down a hundred story building.
I’m sure my fellow engineers would argue that the strength of steel changes when exposed to high temperatures, making it weaker, but let’s ignore that. Please don’t waste your time googling a temperature - yield strength curve for steel. If you do, you can ignore the sharp drop off in the curve. Let’s also ignore any structural engineer that will try to tell you that maximum design loads are based on the shape of the column and the design models don’t typically assume a safety factor for severely weakened, twisted, or missing columns.
It is a lot more fun to convince yourself it was a giant conspiracy and ignore basic engineering.

I put the tin foil conspiracy hat on when people started demanding that Elon shut down all the Teslas in Russia. I gladly wear it and am glad I have 4 vehicles year 2003 and earlier available in case it is decided to shut down cars during the next COVID type event. They aren’t my every day cars but I can make them that way if needed.

We know the family of the victim and that article is incorrect. That is poor journalism getting names mixed up.

I read this post this morning in the airport and thought how terrible this was. My wife just picked me up after landing and told me a friend of ours mother was raped in Baton Rouge. She is in bad shape with broken bones. I met her at her son’s birthday party. Super sweet lady.
re: Be Honest - Would you take the money?
Posted by Ramblin Wreck on 3/6/26 at 11:14 am to SoFlaGuy
No. Why do people already extremely wealthy in high positions continue to turn a blind eye or cooperate to get even more money? Because whatever you have never seems like quite enough. Just be content with what you have. Thinking you will set your family up for generations is a fool’s game. You are just increasing the likelihood they will be useless or drug addicts. I’ve seen it too many times. Also, I bet 90% of the people with lots of money still struggle with debt. No matter how much you have, people tend to live beyond their means doing and acquiring stuff that doesn’t matter and leaving themselves vulnerable when the rains come down.
re: I’m surprised oil stocks have been decreasing in value since the Iran crisis started

Still no real movement in XOM or CVX during this. CVX is up barely, XOM has been down slightly. Reading oil could reach $150 in a couple of weeks.
Finally had to do the inevitable and replace the Silverado transmission

2019 with an 8 speed. Started doing the shudder thing at 75,000 miles. I did a complete fluid flush at 125,000 that helped some. Moving to a region with hills made it worse but I managed to delay until 175,000 miles. It is frustrating but I have only had to change the oil and replace the tires other than the shudder issue. $7200 gets me another 3 years / 100,000 miles. Unfortunately there isn’t an improved design option for the 8 speed.
Anybody else been able to delay replacement until high mileage?
Edit - I stated fluid flush but meant complete fluid and filter change and replacing the magnet.

When people call me from a computer and use a random generated caller ID number belonging to someone else, can we make that classified as wire fraud?

There is a reason that ExxonMobil divested of all their pipelines, terminals and refinery in California.

Both XOM and CVX have dropped in price when it seems they would be climbing.

I started reading some of the history of the Tyndale Bible in it. It is interesting. I’m not Seventh Day Adventist and haven’t gotten any further. I’m a history buff and like to know what people believe so I’ll skim and read some of it for the knowledge.

Do you complain when the price of oil drops and the price of gasoline drops in their storage tank even though it was refined from higher cost crude?

It is owned by the same company. I quit accessing it a few years ago when on a single day they had 7 articles on transgender rights. How many people in Alabama really care about that topic? Leave the woke agenda and national politics to other sites, I just want to read about local news and events.

I disagree. My dad is a baby boomer and a huge saver even on a small income. I’m Generation X and invested very well so I won’t need any inheritance I get from him. When I pass my kids will get a windfall from my unused inheritance from my dad and what my savings are. A lot of young adults are and will be inheriting huge sums of money. It explains why I often pass multi million dollar homes and see newborn baby bows hung on their mailbox. I doubt those are people my age having newborns.

Some dogs are just screw balls. The OP probably did nothing wrong. You obviously have never owned a weird dog. The dog I described in my post would look out the window and see a kid and then go nuts barking and would destroy a couch, attack my lab or try to bite anyone near by. We got him when he was a puppy and he was never mistreated. He was just nuts and unpredictable.

We had a dog that did that to me several times. The last time I had him by the throat with him making gurgling sounds. My wife was freaking out so I allowed him to live. She couldn’t bring herself to let me have him put to sleep. He was a catahoula mix, scared of his own shadow, hated kids, passive aggressive to the point of destroying 3 couches, had extreme food aggression, bi-polar, etc. I hated that dog. He had an attachment to my wife and she was soft hearted, up until the day he screwed up and bit her. He was sent to doggie hell after that. She made the decision without my input. LOL

I friend of mine was accidentally shot down by the Japanese Navy during a joint US - Japanese training exercise back in the 1990’s. It happens. He said he got pretty banged up from ejecting. He has quite a story to share being able to tell people about being shot down by the Japs fifty years after World War II. LOL
