Democracy is failing across the west. The institutions have become too corrupt and exist to perpetuate a shadow state unanswerable to the people. Nothing really surprising about it as dynasties have always eventually failed throughout history.
Our democracy cannot fix our issues and our opponents internal and external have learned to use the weaknesses of the system.
We need to go through a reset. This will likely take a dictatorship. Then, perhaps at its natural end democracy can reform.

The consumer and Wall St pay for the tarrifs. Now, ask yourself who pays for free trade. Middle American labor pays the vast majority. You can't have free trade with countries that do not have your regulatory environment and standard of living. In that scenario, all your doing is exporting labor.
