I've only been there a few times, but I always liked it. Their Hawaiian BURGER was my favorite (Big Kahuna Burger style); they'll still make it if you ask.

Read the screenplay ('Django Unchained')... that movie is gonna kick arse. Heard he's looking at old slave cabins, etc. along the River Road.

I've found that a lot of college kids like it, mainly because they don't know any better. But to me, I can't find anything about the place that doesn't scream "AVERAGE"

Seriously, you must be either gay or a female. I don't care if it's a Sports Bar or not, it's unacceptable. People are there to drink beer and watch sports on a Saturday. I didn't say anything, but there were plenty of others who complained, and as I was getting my check they finally switched to the Fla-Ga game.

I agree that it's horribly overrated. Worst part of the entire thing was, it was a Saturday afternoon in the middle of football season, and instead of the TV near me having a game on, they were showing old reruns of Two and a Half Men.

Also, although not fast food...
Jackrabbit Slims
Burger World -- "large fry, pie, large coffee... y'all got that in there?" "mouseburger and French flies"

I don't care what anybody else says, that poboy at Chimes was fantastic the 2 times I had it... an explosion of flavors. Doubt I'll go back anytime soon now that it's gone.

Any truth to this? My wife says that Blockbuster has this deal on Sundays, but I find it hard to believe.

re: Churches, Popeyes, or KFC?
Posted by Dancing Outlaw on 10/28/11 at 7:15 pm to BeaverPRO
I'm sure I'll be in the minority here, but of the 3 listed, I prefer Church's. The Church's on Acadian near Govt. used to have killer fried livers, but they took them off the menu and after that I never went back. Haven't been to any of the 3 in years, as a matter of fact. If I eat fried chicken in BR, it's from Chicken Shack. In NO, it's McHardy's. But Gus's in Memphis destroys them all.

Grew up in Pittsburgh, and used to go to Tambellini's for Italian. I'd also check out Alla Famiglia, Piccolo Forno, Girasole, and La Tavola. All should have websites, so check them out and then pick the one that suits you best.
Outside of that, I highly recommend Fathead's on the Southside, one of my favorite places on Earth.
The strip district has some great places, such as DeLuca's and Jojo's for breakfast, the original Primanti Bros., and the Pennsylvania Macaroni Co., which is the closest you can get to Italy without actually going.
I also recommend you take a trip to the top of Mount Washington and eat a Devonshire sandwich at Lemont. The Devonshire is a famous Pittsburgh sandwich.
For pizza, try Fiori's or my personal favorite, Beto's.

The ones at La Tiendita are the best I've had. Still need to try the fish tacos at La Reyna and Awesome Fish Tacos on O'Neal.
