Totally outclassed. No organization. No heart. No fricks. And no damn reason Cameron and Beckerman should be starting. If we play like that again Tuesday we will lose for sure.

Looks like something from Microsoft Clip Art.. I am a sucker for classy crests, and Wolves' crest is a calamity.
As a supporter of the vanguard of moneybaggers, I'm looking forward to having a viable French side in Europe.
Alex Morgan, Stu Holden, or gtfo.
Al-Hasawi family to take over Nottingham Forest

Not sure how many foresters there are here, but another English club has been bought by a wealthy Arab family. Whether it means spending like City or operating more like Fulham, we might be seeing Forest in the EPL sometime soon. After arduous research (google/wikipedia), this family previously owned club in Kuwait (i know, i was shocked to learn that grass for a pitch can be grown in Kuwait) that was relatively successful, so maybe this will be big for Brian Clough's old stomping grounds.
But don't take my word for it, take ESPN's

I've never even considered the fact that i might be gay until now.. But every time i see a picture of Stu Holden i get....feelings......
You're right, it's by God July 4th, i'll have some of that kool-aid too.
I better book my flight to Brazil, sounds like i'm gonna be in for one hell of a show.

Still really cool for us plus who knows what will happen by 2016, hell we could be world cup champions by then.

As I peruse various soccer-specific websites, I can't help but notice regular reference to a "Manchester United?" But there is only one Mancucian side, and they are boys in blue holding the trophy. So this begs the question...
who the frick are united?
who the frick are united?

If anybody would do something crazy, it would be Swag. But I am afraid that his comments, while understandable, will ultimately be counter-productive. He pretty much gave a perfect plan for "How to get under the skin of an already volatile player."

re: Where can I find the cheapest (good quality) jerseys for Euro 2012

A United Fan advocating buying something more expensive? This universe doesn't make sense anymore. After hearing their reaction to City winning the league, I was sure that ManU fans procured the best available fabric at a really cheap price and then developed it into a really nice jersey over time. That's the best way to build something, right? People that just go buy stuff ruin the sanctity of football jerseys.
On a serious note, I bought a cheap USMNT jersey on ebay before WC 2010 and it looks and feels very similar to the real thing, and it came at a fraction of the price. If I wanted a $100 quality jersey, I would have bought a $100 jersey. People who buy Camry's don't expect them to perform like a Benz.
What a prick.
While discussing this match with a friend of mine (I'm looking at you NewtonReb) and talking about our expectations/predictions, I realized that I am hopelessly optimistic every time the Yanks take to the pitch. I always expect a good result (usually a win). Is anyone else like this? I don't care who the USMNT is facing, I always feel like we should win it. Not just simply a hope that we win, but that "this is our year" feeling every time a new season starts for your favorite team. I realize this mentality sets up for potential (and assured) heartbreak, but I am of the opinion that our boys can beat anyone in the world. Maybe this is just typical American arrogance, or maybe it is desperate bias, but regardless I'll be damned if I don't expect an American victory tonight against the Brazilians.
God Bless America and the boys in Red, White and Blue.

Hey, remember how SAF had sand in his vag that time the noisy neighbors beat Man United and took over first place in the table?
And btw, hypothetically... Say City win the next two matches 1-0 and 1-0 and finish with 89 points, and then United win the next two matches 6-1 and 6-0.. I realize how absurdly unlikely that is, but does it make sense for a team like United to leapfrog City (a team that beat them twice this season) on the basis of g/d? I guess I am questioning this in theory, not so much in it actually possibly happening.. But I mean, winning a match 6-1 isn't exactly unheard of, amirite?

I also heard the "650 million people in 212 territories" statistic.. I interpreted that as it was broadcast to that many people, not actually watched. I could be wrong. But I mean, look at the populations, if every single person in England and USA watched it (which obviously didn't happen), it would barely be half of that number.
The argument is moot because both sides are always gonna disagree. However, I doubt if the Glazers all of a sudden wanted to invest millions into signing new players, Man United fans would say, "no no, let's do this the right way." You aren't a football purist if your team doesn't spend money, every fan wants their team to spend money. The rub comes in when a team like City spends money and all of a sudden can compete with the big boys. That is understandable because so much of sports is heart ache, and buying a championship is a short cut that aggravates most fans. However, Manchester City could not and can not compete with the revenue stream of Man United, so the owners decide to just inject their own money. This will obviously anger most fans.
But let's be honest, Manchester United currently has (and has had) some of the premiere players in the world. It takes money to pay these players (and Manchester United has money), it takes money to run academies, to pay scouts, etc. Running a football club takes money. To establish a perennially top flight club, it takes loads of money (usually). Manchester United has a well established revenue stream and has amassed money from years of football glory. It took money to get there. It is about money. Why is it that Manchester United is always at the top and other teams (WBA or Wolves) can't stay in the EPL? Money. That is what separates the big boys from the minnows. It is the source of the money that causes the problems.
So the moral high horse of "well at least my club does it the right way" and "i will sleep well tonight knowing that my club doesn't buy players" is good for message board arguments and moral victories. But people are concerned about trophies. Moral victories don't look good in trophy case. Manchester United has won titles because they have the money to consistently field a top flight team. Now City have that ability too. Does this translate into prolonged success? Probably not, at least not the level of success that Man U has enjoyed.
But this aggravation is understandable, the noisy neighbors are obviously getting under SAF's skin too.

I can watch nearly any sporting event.. but for the life of me, I can not understand cricket. The terminology just throws me off. When I watch Fox Soccer and I see cricket highlights with its "wickets" and triple digit scores.... I become a red blooded American real quick and I just want to drink beer and watch the Braves. Official Manchester Derby Thread
Posted by CTID on 4/25/12 at 9:49 am
Is it too early to start a thread on the biggest game of the EPL season? I like this game being on ESPN (which I realize has around the same size audience, but it is the flagship channel, its more prestigious) because I expect all out, wide open football to be played, and both teams have the firepower to really put on a show. What a week for the soccer world, Chelsea beating Barca in dramatic fashion followed a week later by the biggest Manchester Derby is decades.. But I digress, this match is gonna be can't miss football. Thoughts?

Ok, 3-2 Citeh with about 7 minutes of nerve wrenching "fergie" time.

I think that it was likely intentional. Maybe not on the head, but he clearly stuck his leg backwards, which is very unnatural for someone falling. But I will say that Mario plays like a typical Italian, he always falls, flops, etc. Even as a City fan it frustrates me. Part of me (the City fan/Balotelli sympathizer) thinks that maybe he was trying to plant his foot to make for a better "fall" in typical Swag fashion. But reality says that he was stomping.
Now if Rooney did this, the FA would bend over backwards to acquiesce him (remember the FA appealing to UEFA on behalf of Rooney so he could play in the Euros?). Just like in the SEC, the Rooney's and Alabama's will always get passes, while examples are made of the others.
Here's to hoping that Dzeko finds his footing in the next 4 games.
