See i think the schedule is awesome. Bunch of exciting games to look forward to and all of the tougher ones are at home which is even more exciting

Bad as in hard, but yes it’s gonna be a fun year.
quote:

I agree with this. While the hope is there and the possibility, the schedule and a first year system is just asking too much.

I just don’t see why people feel this way. The defensive system is the same. The offense is run by the greatest staff in the country. Ole Miss just rebuilt their roster entirely and made the playoffs. This isn’t 2019. I won’t be mad if we don’t, but I believe we 100% have a shot. The schedule looks bad on paper but things change so much year to year it’s impossible to know.
quote:

Our tough schedule might not be so tough next year that’s impossible to project at this point

Right. Who would have guessed this years schedule would be as hard as it was?
quote:

Only way I see this happening is if he's guaranteed starting job and money in year 2 with the opportunity to play this year due to Leavitt's injury. I don't see that mostly because Leavitt has 2 years left. If he tears it up he's going to NFL but if not, he stays and finishes his second year at LSU. Unless he's a 1st you're more likely to keep QBs right now due to the money they getting. They getting more than most 1st round QBs.

Unlimited transfers makes competing less risky. At this point he’s not going to get a starting job at a top university as Miami looks toward other options. So he’s looking at another year as a backup. But he can come to LSU, make good money, learn under Lane and have a clear path to a starting job next year. Or he could go to a smaller school and prove it and get more offers. It’s hard to say what makes the most sense but if he wants to be in the LK offense, being a backup for a year is what’s best.
quote:

Is that they have played snaps. Yes it was against inferior opponents but a guy with 2 years eligibility left thats been in away from home for 3 years already is going to be more prepared than any kid straight out of high school.

We can all be confused about the QB situation but you can’t doubt Lanes process. He built that Ole Miss team this same way except now he can get elite freshman. I have faith.
quote:

And if it were a potential LSU starter, we would all be calling for the same thing

I doubt it. I think if the roles were reversed we’d be pissed and calling him a bunch of names but the reality is that there isn’t any rules binding kids to teams and there shouldn’t be. Everywhere else is a free labor market. Let kids do what they want.
quote:

And he wanted more money. Which is why he wasn't kept. He wanted starter money. I know its pretty much same thing but..

And he will get starter money. I don’t know why so many people want to bargain bin shop in the portal. We’re going to spend big bucks.

If we really wanted Leavitt we would get him. This isn’t basketball. I was worried about plan B in the coaching search. Turns out we didn’t need one.

Hope you’re right and I kind of agree. I trust Lane and the money people will get their guy at QB. They plan on being relevant next year

They chose the sure thing.

I mean we Suck and you can only keep saying it so long. Until we get rid of the waste of space on the bench in sweats nothing changes.

I’m all for trading Zion but what would it change? The roster is horrible with and without Zion. Terrible franchise.

He wants to coach all the games, ole miss just wants to have him guarantee a playoff

Bingo. They want to lock up a playoff spot before he leaves. I don’t see how he makes it another week without them getting pissed.

Or…. It was to draw out Florida’s offer…

I’ll admit he could still go to Florida but this makes zero sense. If he has to do the contract negotiations like this he’s not going to Florida. “LSU and Ole Miss offered him whatever he wanted but he wants Florida so bad that he will use whatever leverage he can to get them to match. Because Florida doesn’t want him enough to just match / beat it for some reason?” Like its way more likely it got leaked because he’s gonna take it and more people know about it because its real.

Part of that is OKC taking too many lazy 3’s. They thought game was over and relaxed and that can bite any team. Stopped giving tight game effort. I think you have a future star in Fears. He should be in year 1 of college and here he is getting experience against one of the best teams. When the tempo sped up yes he made some mistakes but you can see the raw talent this kid has. SGA started like that too. You have to do everything to get him some talent. The key is if the management builds around him. That takes time and this year and next are all about getting him experience. Will lose a lot but he will learn a lot too. As you get players around him he’ll be a floor leader and learned via hard knocks. The challenge is giving up that draft pick. Might need to find some trade value for some players and get some picks ideally a first rounder but I don’t know if thats doable. But some years there is always a team that feels they are one role player away from a title run in Jan so maybe that comes around? Queen is another keeper. Those two will gain valuable experience the key is building around them. I am really high on Fears watched him in college when he shoulda been a senior in HS. Very grounded kid and works hard. You have to find a way to improve over the next 4 years so he sees team growth and then as quality players are added your team will take off. Just my 2 cents good luck on the season.

Thanks for the good vibes. We like Queen and Fears. They have played well under the circumstances. We all hated trading the pick but what’s done is done. I think it might be best to start the rebuild and try to get back into this draft even if it’s a mid first pick.

No Order Kiffin Riley Kingsbury Golesh Brohm Fisch Get me one of those and lets fkn go

I have an order but I agree. These are a good list. All would do well at UF and LSU.
quote:

Why didnt we ever build around Taysom more?

This idea needs to stop. No one was ever building an offense around Taysom. He was never going to be an NFL starting QB.
quote:

Get off the cross. That trade was lambasted by everyone, media and this forum included. I've defended it, and still will. But there aren't many in my camp, and that's OK. If you got down votes, which who cares?, I'm sure it was for other reasons. We literally have 4-5 new threads (that are never original) every week that rehash how bad the trade was. You aren't alone..

There was a very loud vocal minority defending this trade non stop. It was pretty annoying when it clearly was a terrible trade. Being contrarian at that level is very annoying because the arguments for it were complete nonsense.
What he did at Oklahoma saying was legitimately impressive. It’s clear he’s not a grinder though and wanted to go to a less intense job.

As a Registered Independent (#humblebrag)- i knew it was only a matter of time before the Maga political insanity infected LSU sports.. The future of the football team is now very bleak .. this is why we cannot have nice things.. but hey, at least y’all voted for this .

People on both sides are just completely delusional about the job performance of their favorite candidate / party. It’s nice though that LSU football is breaking through that for some people lol.

In any high stakes game or high value product with marketability the shake up in administration happens but it doesn’t stop you from taking the job. The product is good. The resources are good. It’s a new opportunity to evolve. From a sales point of view. We have a proven product and high level of investment on futures. So a VP and Manager got tossed…so what. That doesn’t change the market value or potential. Any coach worth a shite will see that and jump. We are on the precipice of greatness, if you’re scared jump in a row boat.

The fastest way to get mass turnover in an org is to have the VP leave. VPs also pull people into orgs. No one wants to take a high stakes job without really good leadership they know and trust.

Will Borrego be the coach vs. Charlotte on Tuesday after we start 0-6? The little optimism shown from the first two games has completely vanished. Another wasted season

Do we know if the players like Borrego? They clearly have checked out Willie but would they play hard for Borrego?

That's the problem... Trey does need the ball in his hands to operate, despite being a terrible ball handler, because his off-ball movement is lazy as frick.

This is where I feel like the right coaching can help. Like the guys don’t look like they know what they should be doing.
