re: Trinidad Chambliss vs. NCAA has officially been filed in Lafayette County Chancery Court
Posted by FreeState on 1/16/26 at 5:19 pm to MCSquared16
Chancery courts in Mississippi are a joke and crap shoot. Like Forest Gump said, a box of chocolates. Look for some real home cooking to come out of this ordeal.
My first semester tuition was under $ 90, actually it was $81. Room and board $90 a month. Minimum wage on campus was $1 an hour but you could only work 20 hours a week so you had to come up with $20 some damn where to cover the rest of room/board.
An area hospital paid $15 a pint for blood but you could only donate every 6 weeks. Unless of course you gave a fake name and lied about not having any I. D. which was pretty common.
We considered LSu a dream. Transportation was an issue for us poor north LA rednecks. Gas was 30 something cents per gallon not the 30 cents was hard to come by but it didn’t matter because we had no car. A girl the year before me went to LSU but got killed in a car accident coming home one weekend. That scared some parents off from allowing their kids to venture away. One guy from my class went but he was such a sheltered kid his first semester he flunked everything after discovering beer, women, and the ability to sleep late and skip class. He had been a 4.0 student, salutatorian, and was in church before the doors opened.
None of us had a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. But Viet Nam was hot and heavy so school was the ticket out. Unfortunately my two brothers dropped out and got a draft notice like clockwork. One joined the Army and a year later one joined the navy thinking it would keep him out of Viet Nam. Wrong. Ended up getting wounded there twice.
Long drawn out post but being older than the rest of yall I’m pulling senior posting status!!!!

I’d pump the brakes on best team ever.
Hate to get too close but north of Bentley and south of Bernice. East of Hagewood and west of Jonesville. Piney woods.
Lord no. A poor boy like us could only imagine what it would be like to even go to an LSU game back then, much less attend college there or any college. It chaps my arse when someone starts a north LA versus south LA debate on here and how we’re part of Texas or Arkansas. In my little hometown we never even heard of any school but LSU. If a kid from home went there it was major news. There’s probably more anti LSu sentiment in south LA than in my area. Not shading south LA but where I come from you’d get run out of town if you wer anti LSU.

She wouldn’t know how to turn on a computer. At least I don’t think she does. She’s too busy chasing grandsons. She could care less about me if they’re within 100 miles. Besides, after 50+ years of marriage ain’t much blows her skirt up.

I’m a bit surprised there are so many “older” guys lurking here. These young sport models better watch out for us. Next thing we’ll be stealing their wimmin!!!

KWKH was the station alright. We’d listen to KEEL when we could get a signal but KWKH might have been the only north LA station to carry LSU. On occasion we’d catch something on WWL in NOLA. My poor old grandmother loved her some Pete Fountain from the Blue Room at the Roosevelt Hotel.

I remember sitting in a parking lot with my dad and brothers and daddy threatening to kill us if we didn’t shut up so he could hear the broadcast of LSU-Ole Miss. I don’t know why he got so excited. Some guy for LSU fielded a punt deep in Tiger territory and managed to run it back for a touchdown. Guy’s name was Billy something.
Seriously, we were at an all night cafe parking lot in Armistead, LA on our way to visit a relative in Mansfield. My pop really wasn’t much of a football fan, he worked all the damn time in the oilfield. But he was a Tiger fan.
I remember that night like it was yesterday. That and the JFK assassination and Ruby killing Oswald, I remembers every detail of.

And throw in Ole Mrs. getting beat and Indiana blowing out Oregon and my wife going out of town for a couple days to my daughter’s this has been a damn good week.

We can’t stop any team with a 3 point sh. Achilles heel. We’re sloppy, lazy arse passing. Make dumb arse mist. Butter fingers on rebounds.

I had two tickets pretty much gifted to me. My buddy and I turned down $2500 each from some Oklahoma fan. We sat on about the 35 and I felt like a kid in a candy store.
