I changed the scope because I had to pass on a few deer at last light because the Simmons wouldn't draw enough light. The only reason I used Weaver base and rings is because Cabelas didn't have a Leopold base to match my gun(go figure Cabelas would be out of something!! Lol)

I think the base is a weaver one piece. yes, I meant the tube of the scope is too long. Scope is Leupold Vari XII 3X9X40. I have a Redfield Revolution 3X9X40 on another rifle and it wouldn't fit either. It functions fine the way it is....just looks awful in my opinion. Considered offset rings, but heard alot of negatives about the,

Considered getting one....but figured it would be bad idea, cause I know I would max that baby out the minute I got it!

Savage 111 Scope question

Posted by hestahamma on 1/17/13 at 7:22 am
I have a Savage 111 that was bought a couple years ago as a package gun(came with junk Simmons scope). I put a Leupold on it but the neck would not fit on my base. I switched to a one piece base which functions fine but just is an eye sore in my opinion. Anyone have this issue and maybe can recommend a different option??? thanks

Easily 35lbs depending on shot placement. Also, I would call and have them cut it with pork fat....feral hogs are really lean and need a lil fat content added imo...

Just west of Paulina on River Road. Almost directly between Gonzales and Laplace.

Next time you need processing done let us know. Best product around....no batch processing, custom blended seasoning, quick turnaround(5-7 day average), and all items vac packed.
We are working on a recipe for summer sausage. We got it close but still not 100% satisfied with it.

Thanks hogdaddy. Been a lurker for awhile now. Favorite deer item is smoked jalapeno and cheese sausage or deer andouille....

Another thing that causes gamey taste is improper cleaning. All fat, slime, "jelly", bruising, and silver needs to be removed.

I have a small shop in St. James Parish. We never batch process, use custom blended seasoning(not generic bagged seasoning), and vacuum pack everything. Feel free to send me an email @ thesausageshed@gmail.com if interested in a price list.
