re: Will Texas or Texas A&M ever schedule an OOC series with Texas Tech?

there was a great GIF about that that was created by cuppycup. Can't find it anywhere

Honestly, I don't get the hate for their colors. It's Red/White/Blue - same as the Bills, Patriots, and Giants.
The nickname is sort of lame. Would rather have had them be the Bulls if they are going with the emblem. Otherwise, something space or energy oriented would have been good.

I travel #1 every Tuesday and Thursday morning. It’s always packed. A few weeks ago I had to drop off someone at Bush airport and Waze brought me home via hardy tool road to the north loop and then the west loop. Was prepared for a shite show - never slowed down down lower than 55moh from 1-10 to 59. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.

We had an inbounds pass where the guy catches and dribbles and then is fouled in the corner, and they say it all transpired in .3 seconds. (and the clock started on time).
Then they blow the whistle after a guy heaves a half court miss out of bounds with only .3 left.
THEN they rule they shouldnt have stopped it, and they give the ball back, and add another .3.
This was so bad. The REFS should have reviewed the FT shot to see if it hit the rim and
1. If it did hit the rim then its A&M's ball with 0:03 seconds left.
2. If it didn't, then its Auburn's ball with the same amount of time on the clock when the FT was attempted.
Refs screwed the sequence up spectacularly.
Auburn never should have even gotten the chance. We kiss a ft and Auburn throws the ball away and somehow the refs give them the ball had mid court

I've always heard and read (Rising Tide mentioned it), that one issue with New Orleans was how insular society was there. Very much a you need to have been born here to get into the right clubs/krewes. Hard to attract large corporates if you tell the CEO he's not welcome in your club.
Of course, state and local political grifters probably played a much more significant role.
Houston on the other hand is a place that welcomes everyone and doesn't really care about your background or where you went to college/high school. Only what you've achieved.

rewatched the last episode of season 1 this weekend to get prepared. Holy crap - We didn't remember even one detail of that episode.
Interesting that Hugh Laurie will return....he's donna be pissed to say the least!

College coaches are dummies for the most part. Kirby and DeBoer today just proved it
re: Duck gumbo question..

I’ve got some duck breasts from a recent hunt. Pretty sure they don’t have skin. (I didn’t process them - the club did). How would I cook them for a duck gumbo? Just brown them in the pot after I brown my andouille? Then put them in after I make the roux and cook the trinity and add the stock?

DeBoer is an idiot. Taking a risk there with no real return on the risk even if he gets the first down. . Coaches can be complete dumbasses at times.
To the OP. We get it - you’re from a state that has two real college football programs. In Texas we had a conference that had eight D1 teams in the same conference. It’s something you can’t understand.

I feel your pain. I’m also told how I have a great looking swing. But I’m wildly inconsistent. Main issue are tempo and not looking at the damn ball! Also of course the occasional bad chip and throw in about six or seven three putts and my score goes to shite.
Still when you pure a drive or approach shot or drop a long putt is so fine.
Need to get back in the lessons in 2026.

re: How often do you actually sit down and read a book?
Posted by MAROON on 12/20/25 at 6:38 am to CBandits82
Most nights before I go to bed. I’ve always got at least one book next to my bed. Probably get through about 10 a year at this point. Just read an Eisenhower biography, now reading a book about the Israel/Palestine conflict.

re: Corpus Christi - What Happened?

my first job out of college was in Corpus in the brand new Texas Commerce Tower. Beautiful building. I had an office overlooking the port bridge and the bay as a snot nosed 21 year old. Streets in downtown were always super wide. I have no idea why.
Corpus has always been a dead town. It's a Navy town, a deepwater port, and has some oil and gas companies. Otherwise it has nothing much. The locals always claim it's about to take off, but it never does.
Kids that grow up there and go off to college, do not come back.
On the positive side if you like to hunt, fish, sail, hang out at the beach, and eat Mexican food then it's a decent spot.

I cannot comment on the roof because we did not do that. But the inside of the Duomo is nothing to wait in line to see. Bland. The outside is spectacular.
#1 on your list should be Michelangelo's David. It's truly impressive.

Where’s all the manufacturing jobs at?
there have been a lot of countries and companies promising investment in the US. I would assume when (and if) those investments are made then jobs will come....but building plants or even plant expansions take time. Nothing happens overnight and surely not within the first year of his Presidency. If in year 3 and 4 you don't see the manufacturing jobs then you can certainly question the wisdom of the tariffs.
Get the AllTrails app.
Gorges has a couple of trails for the family, look up Panthertown for a lot of trails. You will also need to do Whiteside Mountain trail - it's a must. Go to Whitewater falls viewing area. You can also park your car Duke Power Bad Creek project and hike down to the whitewater river and then up to the falls if you like.
As mentioned, there are hundreds of falls in the area.
Also look up Pisgah National Forest north of Brevard and Oconee State Park and numerous State parks in the very north of South Carolina. Note South Carolina will be about 5-10 degrees warner in the summer.
The Blue Ridge parkway is another great place for hikes.
