Where did you find the pork jowl? I’ve had trouble finding it in the past.
How many pounds of meat are y’all using?

try sliced pickled pork in lieu of tasso, brown it good with your sausage.
How many lbs of meat are y’all using for 1 lb of dried beans? I usually do one pound total for meat. Would I go with a half pound of pickled pork and a half pound of sausage?

Wow! So many great responses.
I’m going to be cooking a lot of red beans this summer to try all these tips.

What I currently do:
- use dried beans that have soaked overnight
- use the cajun trinity
- use tasso or andouille sausage or both
- let them cook all day, low and slow
- blend up a few scoops in a blender to add a creamy texture but maintain some whole beans
- use homemade stock
Any ideas for ingredients to add or techniques to make them better?

Thanks. This is good to know. Worrying about the added weight was the only reason I’ve held off on doing the same thing.
I’ll look into if mine had an auto calibrate, that’s interesting.
What’s the R rating of those panels?

Do you have to adjust the tension of the garage door spring after adding that weight to it or is the weight negligible?
Nusery in SE Louisiana Selling Large Blueberry Plants (5+ gallon pots)
Posted by Seven Costanza on 3/24/26 at 10:13 am
Anyone know of some nurseries around Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Mandeville/Covington that are selling larger blueberry plants?
Only place I found so far is Bantings in Lacombe. They have 7 gallon plants but are running low. I am looking for more than they have.

Was that because of the spread and size of each bush or due to the spreading with runners?

Same here. I’m first going to try to raise those low spots, then sod with zoysia because the area gets decent shade.
Hoping I don’t have to resort to French drains.

Is everyone planting in full sun, or could I have some moderate success with dappled shade until noon?

During the summer the canes got to about 6 feet long.
Wow that’s crazy, did you train them up a trellis?
With a plant that size now you should get plenty of blackberries this year.

How long have you been growing them, and how many plants do you have?

Has anyone tried the prime-ark traveler instead of the prime-ark freedom thornless variety? There are some at Perino’s in Metairie, and I’d like to plant a few this year.
Interested in hearing anyone’s experience with growing them.

re: Gas Line for 22kw Generac - Certain Length of Straight Run Required?

Plumber is correct in what he said, but it is almost never necessary for residential generators. For the large hospital or shopping center generators, they need 8-10 feet of pipe (normally 2x actual pipe size) for the start-up. The demand when those behemoths fire up is staggering and they can suck the line empty, choke out and will not run without having this "tank" of gas to fire-up.
Ah, very interesting. I could see how this would be needed for larger generators. Thanks for the additional information.
