Ya know, I wonder about that. Where is the line drawn between "thug/selfish" and "doesn't care?"

Are you increasing your credit card balances right now despite sending $200/month?
Credit cards are up and down for me. I'll work the balance down, the need to spend and it goes back up. One of which is my mother's card. She took care of my moving expenses recently, and I'm paying that now. The other two cards have a total limit of 600 (300 each), so I should be able to zero those out within the next two months and just put about 30 a month on them to keep them running.

Or is it possible that your habits/misc spending are higher than you think?
Misc. spending is likely where the trouble comes. I'll have that 500 left and the unexpected expenses become more than what I budget for in misc. Of course, 250 per check is not a whole lot to play with having four kids.

Thank you, ZereauxSum! This guidance is vital to me. I appreciate the effort and I will be working on the things you've mentioned.

I pray that He does bless my finances, in His time, not mine. And, if it is His will, not mine.

God unconditionally loves us all and protects us all, Slim. It is my choice to tithe and give to others to honor Him.

Lou, thank you very much for the link! Between that info., the book, and suggestions here, I think I've got some good ammo to get on the right track.

You're the goods, Bama. Even if you root for the wrong team! Hahahaha. Had to get that one in there.

Thanks for the link. Can I get it on my Kindle?

I'm praying for God to shower you with blessings, my friend.

Bama, I know I sound REALLY hardheaded, but putting my tithes on hold is not an option. If I have to keep living check-to-check and one expense away from financial meltdown, then so be it. God will provide for what I need.

As for Ramsey, I'll definitely start reading his stuff. Y'all have convinced me that I can really benefit from it.

Sincere thanks!

It's OK. He can ridicule. I expected some of this when I originally posted the topic.

God bless him.

As for those who made well intentioned suggestions on cutting back on my tithes, I do appreciate the suggestion. My belief is that I'm not giving enough, though. I want to give more to tithes and more to help others. It's one of the primary reasons I want to manage my finances better. I want to give more and let God take care of the rest.

I do appreciate the insight many of you have given, and that's what is important to me.

I see a number of wise suggestions here I can take into account.

Like I said, I'm bad at money management. But, I truly want to fix that.

I disagree. And, if that's the difference in my saving money and going broke, then poverty isn't so bad.

I'm open to other suggestions, though.

Perhaps. But, if I'm being honest, the problem with that problem is...me. I am just not good with handling my money. Straight up.

Where can I find someone to manage my personal money? That's essentially what I feel I need, at least in the short-term.

Costs?

So, save first, then pay down debt. Would that suggest to pay absolute minimums monthly until I get the savings up?

Right, male mallard = greenhead.

I was already on guard. Thought you were coming with a sarcastic photo.

It's all good. I expected negativity, and it still may come. But, I'm not worried about people typing words on a forum against me. Just trying to solve a problem I have with the help of good folks like yourself and ZereauxSum.

Thanks for the tips. I can definitely take some of that advice. In the end, I just want for my family to be "comfortable." I have no interest in being rich. I just want to be able to fix the car if it breaks down, splurge on the kids once in a great while, take the lady somewhere nice on occasion.

I appreciate the DUCK advice as well! hahahaha
