re: DEFENSE

heck, u can't force the D to save the team time & time again. They had injuries & they'd been on the field all day--
best Pro def players cannot carry a team all day long, remember Saints in Ricky Jackson era:
GERAT defense all day long but *lost* consistently,
never forget the year we had 4 LB's in Pro bowl:

didn't make a difference, eh?

Tiger D is great,
Our Off lacked the ability to put teams away too many times this year.

Was it 7 or maybe 8 times we had 3-and-out in the 2nd half ?
I'm tired of arse-whoopin' Def that has to
save our team--not just win--but *save* our team too often.

The D even looked fatigued in last half of the season, c'mon, it's getting to be a serious problem.

As usual Tiger Def players, will go high in the draft: Simon, Keke & SonicSam or any of 'em will be drooled over by Pros.

Champion teams PUT opponents AWAY,
--but hey if u want to keep fans cheering for rah-rah exciting 4th quarter passing show, that's fine--
I'd rather crush teams & win Crystal Trophies.
i heard SI just got a time machine, went back & replaced the cover of Dicka-&-RickyWilliams
with this duo.
Not a bad pic btw. i like Miles' classic family-friendly look.
not bad. Outside of the Ravens, the Texans r the only AFcL
team i've enjoyed watching in years.

And it's good to think of how p!ss'd JerryFairyJones would
be if Houston had a Lombardi.

predictable: how lame some of the trolling has become..
and how much of the top 10 is dominated by SEC teams.

Miles' strangeness is also predictable, but sharing Fescue on tv makes it enjoyable.
(and who can forget Willie Taggart trying the turf in THE Death Valley?))

stop it yall--this food is seaux good some lame team is probly gonna steal more of our recipes for greatness...
oh wait, they've tried; Our food is still better, our football is still better.
OK then, let the kik4ss food posting continue.
quote:

10 wins is great, but a lot of those wins could just have easily been losses, to teams far inferior to LSU.

yep.
It's just a fact: in Miles tenure, he gets 100 % out of everyone--
but underachieves at QB & Receivers.

We will always drop a key game--the once a year, "define our team" as THE best or part of the rest-- until this is fixed.

Les is the best head coach u could ask for--
but even the greatest college & pro coaches have assistants and/or coordinators who manage a part of their system that is not
their strong-suit.

For Les, it's Offense's TEMPO & play calling that are out-of-sorts quite often.

LSU's D strikes FEAR into other teams...not so much our Offense, we can be straight-up about it or we can act like "wow it's great" but i expect the BEST from LSU.

Our Defense looked fatigued this year after saving our butts for 1st half of season.
It's getting old.

Sonic Sam hug solid gold.

& the pp7's always warm the heart but alot of these are too good to rate.

Tho that Les-Brain is gonna stir some ideas up in gif-making land.
sings Queen in the shower?
i knew there was SOMETHING good he was doing.
thanx Sal.
i hoped it wouldn't be bigoted, and i def wanted to hear the straight up way it sounded-- b4 any spin got added or more folks got emotional over it.

G E A U X.....Tigers

i luv that we're up to 145 pages on this rant
my first thought is: whatever he said, what do u expect: he's the TX long snapper!

ok, i didn't see/hear the comment:
--can u tell me if he sounded like he
was saying that
he's "lucky to have more opportunities than others/minorities" type of thing
or
did it sound clearly like "i'm better because i'm white"?

- i def would like to know if UT has a star player that dumb and/or bigoted.

re: Coordination of LSU's offense

Posted by RobRocknRoll on 12/6/12 at 9:23 pm to
i agree that alot of it is falling-into this pattern of our top-talent demolishes alot of teams yet it DOES NOT work that way against the Fla & Bama's of the world.

quote:

Play action makes life on olineman a little easier. As my uncle who played oline at LSU in the early 80's put it, "Pass blocking is a bitch, but run blocking is just hitting the shite out of people". We used 0 play action early on in the season. ..
I think play action could have solved some of our early offensive shittyness

YEP.

Our tempo & play selection seems odd & erratic to be honest--

The 1 thing i notice, year after year:
we get 100 % out of our defense, game-in-game-out...

Yet we're always underachieving w/ respect to Off skill positions re: QB & receiver--

it's not here n there,
it is year after year @ this point.

Train to Bham from NOLA is $54. You could certainly get a rental after that, drive the 2.5 hours, and have a car.

i lived in hotLanta for a few years & alotta us liked that option..

FOR the record on flying there: Hartsfield, as the Delta home/hub, seems to play games--
i've always thought they over-booked & over-priced fares quite often;
Seemingly made no sense:
a few yrs ago, i bought a last-minute ticket during holiday-rush & was cheaper than the prices i'd paid for a year or 2 leading up that that point..
go figure.

i'd be green with envy, but i'm purple & gold w/ jealousy.
i say keep current helmet for the good luck,
but LSU doesn't need luck,
we got skillz

I'd only want new 1 if fans get to vote--but i guess that'd probly cause
too much angst 4 the athletic dept, still, that would be sweet to see
alotta options/designs..

As long as we rotate-in a few unique helmets
per season, i'm happy,
i liked the white one via Nike/charity/Tulane game while back--
& the metallic-gold and i wish we'd use the dark-purple one @ some point [from 2006]-->

((dammitt--i can't keep my photobucket-picture-link from making this so-FRICKIN' big,
i tried scaling it down/smaller on photobucket,
but still huge here,

..if anyone can
tell me more on the scoop on the dark purple helmet, much appreciated.

-->these shots of it are
from a thread i ran across after a quick google that turned up various LSU fans' stuff on forum @
'nickatnite on dualsportridersoflouisiana'
--btw, idk anything about that forum--i dig the Nat'l Champ images & helmets

it should be put into that video of the Les-basketball-with-his-kids-S.VanPelt-shoes-video;-)

as the classic rock song goes, "welcome my friends to the show that never ends.. step inside,
step inside.."

btw, i like ur "KnowLa" pun-- as someone who once lived there, i cannot believe i never saw that before!
as Hawkeye Pierce once said,
"What's sNew?"
i'd love to see it edited into that
classic Cows-parachuting-Chik-Fil-A commercial...

Those cows always rock.
& i try not 2 expect any top 10's or Top Plays to be as good as they should anyway.
i hope Shep can leave LSU w/ a great Bowl performance,
heck he was over-hype'd a bit 2much & his entire career w/ Tigers became: "ok he'll have that break-out game THIS week.."

Spencer: 2 Tds
Shep hopefully gets 1
Hill: 2
Hillard: 1
--i'd like 2see Mett hit Landry & Boone for a few big plays for confidence / SWAG to build on next season

Warning::: i'm getting us back into grumpy-debate here, cause i gotta weigh-in on
"who's better when teams beat each other in a merry go round":

IT's all about PRESSURE :

1) PRESSURE performance : I say we're almost dead even w/ Bama.. Mett had mega-pressure & he, along w/ rest of team, delivered.

Mett had do-or-die, "become the guy we'd been waiting for cause it's now or never"
--hi pressure, was our ONLY shot @ Nat'l Championship & we dominated most aspects of the game all night long,
--but Les pulled-too-many-weird-calls (3, 4 maybe 5?).

2) PRESSURE performance :
A&M is a bit better at this point than us or Bama-- because they also had their season on the line + hostile Bama home crowd YET THEY WON.

3) TIMING : LSU & Bama looked a bit less-powerful, just NOT-so-bad4ss as the season went on, in final games-heck, Bama really shoulda whipp'd UGA, but barely won.]

4) RESULT : M-O-N-E-Y decides everything due to idiotic system:
B.C.S.= BuLLsh!t Causing Stupidity.
ok, i gotta lend some more old geezer perspective here: as an 80's guy (ok, ok, more like grew up in 60s/70s, so that makes me a true ole geezer -- but previous comments got us off on a few 80s comments, c'mon,
u know how old guys like to ramble)..

As a 60s/70s guy , i grew up going to Tiger games with my folks, when we'd typically crush A&M, hence, not annoyed by their fans,
HOWEVER::
if Aggie fans overflow into Cowboy-fans, well, that's where the annoying-factor gets real.

Thus, i request any & all JerryFairyJones-stuff be kept outta here.

I've got friends n relatives all over Texas from the land of the OrangeHorns to
Houston & Big D,
and i can say with confidence that the most annoying fans, who can be
described as "fair-weather" or "we brag when we win but are in hiding when we loose" are typically JerryCowPoke fans.

Intolerable online, offline, u name it.

If it weren't for MO & other great LSU players who've been drafted and/or snookered into playing for Jerry,

I wouldn't be able to watch Cowboy games at all.
So it puts the pure-Aggie fans into a total, different category from my standpoint.

As a fellow LSU alum & old friend once put it, Longhorn & Cowboy fans, just like UGA fans, have an over-inflated view of their teams..
At least A&M plays competitive/tough schedule & they hold up to real football.

SEC west, the best of the best.
heeeeeey,
i'm old enough to be that Uncle!
yep, 80s were great: wicked music, Miami-Vice-girls-butts, cheezy sunglasses & the return of Star Trek.
What's so bad about being old geezers who luv ye olde 80s?!
Embrace the greatness of it.
--JUST like these ATM, er, A&M fans have 2 embrace the SEC West.

Alright d4mmitt, in all seriousness, I'd trade some of my best microbrew for seats at a real-NCAA-playoff right now that sent the Aggies to play, and demolish, those over-rated Dames-de-Notre.

heck I don't care if Aggie fans are obsessed & trolling here, they're an SEC team that gave us a serious game few months ago & same to Gators
& then whipped NickyBama on his home turf, -but thanx to
the preponderance of utterly-idiotic BCS/Bowl-mania,
those LameDAMES get some weird-BCS-respect for undefeated-joke-schedule?!

While down here in the SEC, JManziel & friends survived a b4dass schedule & knocked-off the team that will devour those LameDames
in the Nat'l Championship,
--aka "The SEC whoops-everyone Bowl."

quote:

We beat Oregon, West Virginia, Arkansas, Florida, Alabama, they beat Arkansas, Florida. If everything were the same last season, the scores, the locations, only change the Nov. 5 winner. If Alabama would've won that game, you'd think we'd get a "do over?" Not a chance. The SEC, the majority of "experts" on ESPN, all would say, you have to win the big games. That is your only chance until the following year. Something I've seen on here lately, regarding our last minute loss to Alabama this year. It's strange when it only applies to one team in particular. Topic for another thread, I guess.

solid point, def would b an interesting thread.

..Not to mention the fact that fans are becoming soft all over CFL.....too much "oh gee they're throwing us a nice cutesy bone(d)" as
far as the *oxyM0ronic* so-called 4-team playoff..

btw, i just gotta say this cause i'm hungry & in need of caffeine as well:
if fans give this FAUX-FOUR-PLAY[off]
hi-ratings, it will be
another full decade b4 we get a decent / real 8-team playoff.

oi.
Ok, for someone outta the loop yes i apologize 4 slowin' yall down here:
SEAUX, what are our top bowl possibilities now?--
& if ya feel like it,
how bout prediction on who those opponents would be as well?
(until i started looking @ this thread, I thought we were pretty much stuck w/ cottonBowlJerrFairyDome vs. UT, so what's up ?)
yeh we'll DEMOLISH UT.....But if they could upset
k-state,, who would we play in cotton or other bowl??
ok yall, lets call it straight-up::::Tonite's let-down all started w/ Brent MISSberger = over the hill,

he sucks-up anything re: Rose Bowl & Nuter'd-DAMES' at every opportunity to worship the old-lame-traditions of weak conferences.

"oh the rose bowl, the Grandaddy of 'em all"

..yeah big sh!tski, more like IRRELEVANT of 'em all, eh Brent?

i say, kudos to LSU poster Tigerrotti,
quote:

"frick chic fi la bowl....i mean im glad we went 10-2 .... but frick the chic fi la bowl.....there will be zero emotion/excitement for that game.
cotton or cap1 would be lightyears better in my opinion. frick the chic fi la bowl
,

And kudos to post by biglego,
quote:

chicken bowl again against ACC team. Yay. Everyone still jizzing about 10 ugly wins?

W.O.R.D.

OK yall, DOES ANY SEC fan realize we need to be AS GOOD AWAY FROM the Gridiron as we are ON the gridiron--WE NEED TIGER attitude IN those
corrupt-Board-Rooms,,

we need someone in media who can fight against the greedy/slimey/lucrative-tv/broadcast-contracts + their
wimpy pals those lameIRRELEVANT old bowl-committees, with their meaningle$$ old tradition that was outdated 30 years ago ;
These tv mega-money-contracts their suckup university presidents & their d!k!$h conference chairmen pals, GOTTA b sacked.

To make it worse, 2nite we had to watch LaneyKITTEN make the most
dumbarse-offensive calls JUST when he had NDame on the ropes, on the 1-foot-line:

BUTT instead of miss-direction//quick pitch-out or roll-outs,
L.KITTEN ran wimpy, slow-developing runs/sneaks, oh but THEN on 4th DOWN,

KITTY finally calls an NFL style, quick-pass-short-out but THE LUCK o' the Irish caused a
nervous backup QB to throw it low--AND a bad-hands guy to drop it
.

It was catch-able, btw--BUT DID WE JUST HAVE to hear MISSyBerger say it was the gr8ness of NDame's goal-line stand??

--replay showed BOTH receivers had beat the only ND defender--yeah the key game of the year is on the line & NDame proved how lame & weak they are:
Goal Line play to determine trip to Nat'l Champ yet 2 guys were open but somehow the ball ends up on the "glorious ROSEYbowlTURF!?

Yeah, you oh my fellow LSU fans nailed it in previous comments:
PATHETIC 2see NDamerREAMERs end up on their way to a SHELLACKING by N!ckybama that will be a repeat of LSU-OhioST Nat'Champ or Fla-OhioSt the year b4 that,
while instead: T.A&M, LSU, Florida & perhaps even over-rated Georgia could beat those IrishDamers by halftime, heck J.Manziel would drop 40+ on the Irish w/out breakin' a sweat.

whew, MissyBERGER's gotta be celebrating & how annoying to see the top rated Irish win while sucking against a back-up
...while half the top 10 is gonna be playing mediocre bowls cause SEC is so good the rest of the nation can't deal with it.

Man i'm too old for this cr4p

..BCS no-playoff STYLE points is turning great college football into FIGURE-SKATING.. but @ least the folks in Ice-Skating HAVE a system that works for them.
Not us.
i agree re: Michigan for the fact that Denardo & the "spread offense attack from the Maize and Blue" is exciting for fans & young recruits who seem to like to watch his exciting style
heck--he ran all over a more balanced/talented team vs Ohio St. today if not for 1 critical, late-game pass/INT;

But Bowls = recruits who are looking @ teams who win pressure games vs. real-opponents [something the NCAA doesn't care about, meh]..as well as atmosphere, not just the "best coaching staffs" although that's what us older fans would like to think..

Our man KEKE & other players have made insightful comments to that point
.
Even top recruits talked about it @this years showdown w/ then-top-ranked Gamecocks,
i recall a blue-chipper saying, "it's not what alotta u older fans think,
for us, win or loose is secondary if the 2 teams are closely matched--
we want to see the amazing loud fans & support, the noise of 90k fans who'll be cheering for *us* when we get to this program & take the field in all that elexticity..etc."[/b]

--oh yeah, all the Denardo & Michigan talk reminded me of something that made ZERO logical sense to me this season:

Wolverines' scheduling-department who totally blew it by agreeing to have
Denardo & offenwe face up to N!cky's monster-defense in week one--on Nat'l TV in the FAIRYjerryDOME,

Robinson needed a few weeks of warming up//fine-tuning their system b4
facing a brutally talented Saban defense;
if they'd have scheduled that game in mid-season, Nicky woulda won-- but Denardo & Wolverines woulda had lots more confidence/tempo.
Apologies 4 not reading more than a handful of our previous pages/posts but I have a bigtime-work-deadline tomorrow so i've missed alotta news//permutations on bowl scenarios this week,

thus, I'm hopin' for some advice & best-case opponent/bowl-possibilities
to give me some warm fuzzy Tiger thoughts as i slog thru my digital-drudgery for the rest of the weekend...o_0....

OK : 1) outback /Tampa : who looks to be the highest-possible ranked opponent we'd face in that scenario?

2) What do yall think is best chances for highest-ranked /hi-profile opponent *if* we play in a different bowl as opposed to outBloomingTampa??

LASTLY, hotDangit,, can't resist airing my angst @ this typically non-SEC over-rated game all due to the ice-skating-system of style points,
especially after LaneyWIFFIN ran on key 2nd down, forcing his nervous
inexperienced-backup QB to face 3rd & long & thus the lame fumble--yet kudos to their FG kicker.

yep, my prediction is only 2 points less than urs on Bama, i'm thinkin' N!cky -30 vs over-rated-never-played-more-than-3-tough-games-per-year, aka N.Dames!

What annoys me is that even a so-called-2-game-playoff-system ( can u say [b]oxymoronIC !
) would be a joke this
year:
A&M, *the single most underrated team* would likely have zero
chance to play in any pseudo-playoff unless it was a REAL, 8-game playoff scneario.

Yet they'd DESTROY that Dames..

As lifelong Tiger fan, i was honestly nervous in last few minutes vs A&M & just like Florida,

i think most LSU players were happy to survive their Aggie game with a "W"

I remember how i tried to tell alotta pals that JManziel would give N!ckyBAMA all they could handle, and aferward the

LLLLAAAAME-arse'd Heisman-FOOLS are finally now looking 2give Manziel the nod,, YET only
cause over-rated K-State finally ran-outta-luck after they were overated with all the glory this year till, until of course, they played a real team @ Baylor.

So tired of Bowl committees & tv-money-guys who control NCAA & keep college football in the current "ice skating ratings" mentality of picking the best dancers' style points rather than best QB's & best teams for a true competitive sport..
quote:

Florida did a good job with time of possession against LSU. With a halfway decent offensive plan, LSU wouldv'e have crushed florida.

WORD.
I just wonder about the deal w/ play calling & what goes on sometimes with Miles and Stud.
Les always gets *the* most outta our defensive players,
but the Off skill players....?

This week, if Mett & skill players don't look inspired, i'll be shaking my head again.
Les just amazing w/ the O-line's toughness & production over the years-- but alotta receivers & QB's look jittery & lost sometimes.
gr8 shot on that so-called-hat

THE Hat gonna be rollin on gameday.
--btw, how did A&M give up a zillion to Tech last week?--Tech always tougher than expected & creepup on alotta bigs,
but 57 ?! --Mett gotta show some bigtime arm now.
