re: Colin Gray - gave my son a gun he used to shoot up a school trial - GUILTY ALL COUNTS

All they have to do is prove that a reasonable person, given the facts available, would conclude that the son was a danger to others and by not acting, contributed to negligence.
That’s what the State told them to believe, but that’s actually not the law. And again, while I think he is a POS and responsible, I’m not sure on the legality and what it means for the future.
What happens in the future when a 16 year old gets in a wreck for reckless driving and kills their own passengers and others in a different car with children in it? What if the parents knew the kid sometimes got distracted and forgot to give him his medication that one morning when the kid got the keys without permission and went reckless driving with his friends…do you charge the parents along with the teenage driver?
Do we want juries deciding when someone “might be responsible?” That is not how the judicial system is meant to work and this case opened a book of legal worms

Yup, terrible decision. What was the defense hoping for here exactly?
They wanted to try to present what Colin was doing trying to be a single parent with 3 kids for the first time. Also, they wanted to get on record that the daughter was lying this time, not previously and how her demeanor was changed. Last they wanted him to share that he never felt this would be possible and that no one, especially not Colt, said he was going to shoot up a school.
Unfortunately for Colin, he was not good under cross examination and the DA did a great job of presenting new evidence because he decided to testify. They then grilled him and caught him in many lies, but also saying “I don’t know” A LOT.
DA: Why would you do that?
CG: I dunno
I am very torn on this one. After watching most of the trial, skipped a lot of the emotional testimony, I am glad he is going to jail. I believe the shooting “that day” could have been prevented had Colin taken away the guns from the house after seeing what Colt was like and going through
On the other hand, I feel like it is a slippery slope to convict someone of 2nd degree murder when they didn’t break any laws.
In the State of Georgia, it is not illegal to have unlocked weapons in the house. There was no order or punishment preventing Colin from doing it. Should he have known that his son “could” shoot up a school….moat likely, but the State never proved he knew, prior to the Incident, that he would.
quote:
If this gets to the jury, the defense better damn well hope they get it through the head of the jury that there is a difference between what Colin could have done different and the LAW. The jury is not there to punish someone or emotional conviction someone. They are there to determine guilt of a criminal law
Well, it went to jury and after 11 days of trial, Colin was found guilty on all charges after less than 2 hours of deliberations
The DA did an amazing job cross examining Colin and then with closing arguments. Was actually very awesome to watch.
Defense was stupid for putting Colin on the stand IMO
Sentence to be done at a later date. Possible of 30 years for the 2nd degree manslaughter convictions

Georgia southern is abysmal this year, sitting at 2-9 with a -74 run differential
My brain was thinking Georgia State, when I read KSU's schedule, who just beat Tech last week to end their unbeaten streak. I was just too lazy to go back and edit it after lol

This is a pretty good synopsis of the possible (and plausible) strategy of Iran.
Yea, written by the Ayatollah...
They think they can sustain 60-90 days of this and still have missiles left to shoot after they "deplete" our defenses  GFTOH
So a country full of muslims isnt supporting our "offensive strikes" against another Muslim country....shocker

Interesting way of wording this. However, if she had just given birth, I guess it would have been apparent murder-suicide
Also, most of yall jumping on a Muary situation. I’m thinking he didn’t want her to have it and when she did….he killed her for it. Cause he’s a giant POS

No surprise, Dawgs stay at 11 in D1 rankings after losing midweek and demolition Oakland all weekend. Southern Miss deserved to jump us to enter the top 10 IMO.
Another Interesting midweek game vs Kennesaw State on Tuesday. Playing another instate team midweek. Hopefully we do better this week against a mediocre KSU team that lost to Florida and West Virginia earlier this year…they did beat Georgia Southern though

Does anyone else find it strange that Trump predicted American deaths and it happened almost immediately?
No….
quote:
Where were these soldiers when the fighting started?
At a US Military base in the region. 5 others seriously wounded and many others with small shrapnel or concussions were also reported…
quote:
I don't think we lost soldiers last year, or did we?
Last year was a different operation and Iranians didn’t fire hundreds of missiles at our bases all around the region. The War Department knew a retaliatory strike of this magnitude was likely and American deaths would occur as a result

The irony of your post is that when Presidents authorize war or military action without congressional consent, they are acting like kings
Article 2, Section 2 of the US Constitution and the War Powers Resolution of 1973 disagree with you.

I expect this will play out exactky like last year. About a week worths of strategic strikes then a cease fire with Trump saying Iran is ready to talk.
Uhm, who’s going to “talk” for Iran? Who’s even calling the shots over there? This is just radical Guardsman pushing buttons before they flee into the desert to hide with their families. This shite will be over in less than a week.

Teams with lesser overall talent, but good team dynamics have made runs in the tourney, thats why it is fun to watch.
I understand March madness and Cinderella stories. I also watch a lot of basketball, not just UGA games. I’ll tell you right now, we would be a 15 point underdog to Florida on a neutral court if we played them. You see what they did last night to an Arkansas team that has been playing better as of late? Just think, that Florida team is going to be a 2seed…don’t even get me started on Duke, Michigan, Arizona or UConn would do to this team.
Look, I’m as big of a Dawg fan as anyone and I follow all the big sports at UGA, including golf and tennis. I’m just trying to be realistic, the same I’ve been this entire thread from the beginning…especially when the SEC play was just starting and everyone on here thinking because we got ranked we were something we were not.
Could we pull an upset on one of the top 8? Sure. On the craziest of days, which, can happen - look at 2008 SEC Tournament run. Is it likely, not with this group of kids. Do I hope it happens and wi I be rooting like hell, absolutely. But this team is what it is at this point.
I hear ya. But in reality, we are not beating any of the 1 or 2 seeds in this years field with our talent, even on our best day…unless something absolutely crazy happens and the opponent gets in crazy foul trouble or goes cold as ice.
Right now, we are sitting around a 9 seed. We could theoretically be anywhere from a 7 to 10 depending on how we finish the last 2 and SEC tournament. Anyway it ends up, we aren’t taking down a 1 or 2 seed. Again, this was my expectation from the beginning of the season. We had an absolutely insane easy schedule and just needed to take care of business to get in the tournament and we did that.
Now, we just need to put together a couple more consistent years of tournament teams and start throwing money at the bball program and the future could be bright

Watching UF and Arkansas now and it’s crazy to think we beat Arkansas by 14. Just shows that when UGA can make their 3’s and rebound decent, we can beat anyone.
Uh, no. Arkansas game was at home and they were in foul trouble all game. They also shot poorly from behind the arc. Playing on the road is tough….thats why Arkansas is getting slaughtered.
I agree this team can certainly beat some decent teams if we have a really good shooting night and get some boards…but to say we can beat anyone is just beyond ridiculous.
Be happy with where we are at right now. Making the tourney 2 years in a row. Unfortunately, we don’t have a single recruit signed or committed for next year, so going to have a lot of work to do in the portal again.
Hopefully we can win a game in the first round of the NCAA and just not get embarrassed by a 1 or 2 seed in round 2.

We are destabilizing a region that is notorious for hostile insurgents.
And over the last 47 years, who has financially backed and helped plan for these hostile insurgents? Without Iran finances, supplies and intel, they will not last long.
Also, when others in the region see what’s possible for the Iranian freedom…they too will stop supporting the insurgents.

So what provoked this?
The danger they pose to the entire region…but more importantly, to support humanity and the freedom of the Iranian people, who have been slaughtered in the streets and put to death for simply opposing the regime.
Trump promised to support their effort to freedom after 47 (pun there) years of the murderous regime. He gave Iran leadership a timeline and deal to leave peacefully and they chose not to….

This won’t escalate into a World War, and Iran won’t be “obliterated.” This is a regime change operation and I think it will work to support the Iranians Revolution. You think the IRG and military are going to listen to their leaders for long?
quote:what are they going to say? Russia can’t win a war in 5 years against 1 country and China isn’t in any position to talk. Both will say “this is bad and I condemn it” but it will end there
Haven't heard much out of Russia or China. Maybe they are tired of fooling with Iran but I don't know.

The George Washington CSG and the USS Tripoli group are still stationed in Japan. China ain’t moving on Taiwan with the naval and air strength we still have in that region. Oh, and we still have close to 1/5th of our naval force in the Southern Atlantic
I think we are just fine

I mean, that’s just semantics. It’s definitely a war.
Maybe Trump knew the semantics when he made the statement….
Also, this isn’t a US war, semantics or not. This is an Iranian revolutionary war that we are simply supporting….so again, it’s a war, but not started by Trump
