Weird that he’s only 6’2 and that heavy but obviously has decent mobility. OT’s that weigh 330-340 are usually a lot taller than that.
Maybe the dude's just a tree trunk of meat and muscle, which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Maybe why kiffin has waited for OL? or just a coincidence.
Logically, teams that go far in the playoffs probably have pretty good players. Waiting to see who becomes available as those teams get knocked out of the bracket is probably a good route to take.

I'd love to see what Baker could do with this kid at DT. We need a good run stuffer in the middle that commands double-teams so the edges and LB's can work their magic.
He's at a pretty small school, but the "measurables" seem to warrant a closer look for sure. He has 9 solo tackles at that size (according to his bio) so I'm betting he can move pretty well. if he's coachable he could be the mauler for us in the middle that we've been needing.

Vince looked horrible but was a really good football player, lol. Kind of like John Kruk in baseball.

re: Would Bama take Ty Simpson back?

quote:I think it's more Mahomes-esk...
Is his true level of play what he did in the early part of the season, and his regression in the second half was solely due to injury?
When Mahomes first hit the pros as QB1, everyone expected him to continue his high-risk gunslinger approach from TT. Nobody - and I mean NOBODY - expected him to become what he did in the first 6 years of his career.
As a Chiefs fan, I freely admit to being one of those people. And in all honesty, I think part of the Chief's success was the fact that nobody expected him to elevate the Chiefs and the coaching/player talent around him. After a few years, though, people started figuring out how to stop the Chiefs and started emulating a lot of what that offense did.
I'm not saying that Simpson is Mahomes - far from it. But I believe the situation is similar. After losing the opener to FSU nobody expected Bama to be a serious competitor last year. That opinion completely ignored the talent Bama had and the mental strength that comes from being a routinely excellent team.
The string of victories after that initial loss was because nobody took Bama seriously - at least not like they would have in the past. But just like the Chiefs, after the season midpoint teams started to seriously evaluate Bama on their strengths - and weaknesses, and returned to playing them like it was the Super Bowl.
That renewed focus plus injuries took away the only advantage the Tide had last year - inertia and confidence. Once those were gone, the deficits in Bama's offense were exposed.
I'm no Bama lover - not by a long shot. But I'm honest enough to give credit where credit is due; in this case, Bama responded to an initial loss as well as Tide fans could have hoped, but in the end they couldn't outrun their limitations.
And as to where Simpson fits in all of this: Personally I see him as someone positioned to take advantage of an opportunity but was ultimately unable to elevate his team beyond their limitations. He may end up being a very good NFL starter, or he may end up as the next Minshew. But at this point I don't think Bama would be helping themselves by bringing him back. They should roll with the young gunslingers they had behind him and look forward.
Just my two cents as a LSU fan.
Got that Brian Sipe pre-throw windup...

Have you ever seen how an NFL team works out when they spend all their money on 1 or 2 players?
quote:Pretty sad that you have to ride that B1G dick to make any points here - especially since ND acts like they're too good to join any conference (including the Big10).
SEC hasnt beat a big Ten team in the playoffs in 3 years...
Golden Homers need to join a conference or schedule more top teams (and actually BEAT them) if they want to be taken seriously.
Until then :bird:
Until ND joins a real conference and has to play more than one tough game per year NOBODY gives a wet fart about what you think of the SEC.
Join a conference or STFU.

I think it's going to depend on who we hire and when we hire them.

Arkansas and Kelly would be oil and water. If UW or MSU make a move that would be perfect, or an upper tier MAC job. If Campbell finally decided to leave ISU, or ironically Drinkwitz left Mizzou, those might be a maybe.

quote:Are you sure you aren't talking about LSU vs. Bama next week?
Think about it. We have an interim coach and already at 4 losses. Our expectations are pretty low. We expect to lose this game, as we should given how badly coached our guys were this season. No tears will be had if we lose.
Now, the upside. If we somehow win, with an interim coach, we get to make fun of Georgia for a long time. We will play more loose than Georgia given our season is already over and the offensive schemes are all going to change, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that Florida could win this game.
We're in a fantastic spot going into this game.

I'll bite - because, even if they wanted to, they're not pulling a UGA alum coaching in his prime at a school that loves him for any amount of money.
Dear God no. Just no. NO.
Gus made his bones on the back of a few good players, not on the strength of his coaching skills.
I wouldn't even want him as an OC.
