by now he should have a couple of Masters as well. But who knows...I am glad he is playing for his sake. Have fun while young.

Auburn just saved $2 million when Deuce hit the road.

That money has already been allocated.

Others on here think we have an endless pot of money. Here is an exercise for you, take 30 bucks out of your wallet, set aside about 5-10 in incentives & start allocating that 20-26 bucks out to players on the roster. You will quickly see that there isn't enough to sling money around. QBs & Linemen are costing a lot of money now. So are some WRs. We also now can have more people on scholarship but in some cases that is not enough anymore as some of these players can go down a level get a scholly, play & make some cash at least enough to buy a car.

think it was call Yaz or something like that.

Yeah I was offered some by a guy who had a hook up that supplied some athletes...I think it was coming in through the Football dept..can't say for sure
quote:

You think he is competing to take the starting job from Sellars? No, he thought he would transfer to USCe and Sellars would be going to the NFL

OSU QB was open when he jumped in the portal in Dec while OSU was playing TN. Sayin was coming in potentially but he decided to transfer. So he was either told he wouldn't make it. Sayin didn't get there until Jan. Competition open but he left to go to USCe

quote:

Yeah the kid has potential, but let’s call a spade a spade, he isn’t projected to make it to the NFL.
Neither was the current Heisman winner. I am not saying the kid will be the next heisman guy but you say Noland is better but based on what? Arbitrary stars? Same could be said for Jackson Arnold but look at what happened there. I will take our Current coaches to pick up the best situation for us. I know they like competitors just like Signetti does when he talked about some of his players being upset by the portal picks for them.

quote:

You do realize we went after ALL the top players in the country under Hugh don’t you?
Yep I do. But he didn't discriminate of who would or wouldn't fit not based on talent but on other things like work ethic, being a team mate etc. I don't trust his judgement and never did. Sorry if that makes me flawed so be it. I grew up with many people being hollier than though thumping the bible but not living it the rest of the week. I better trust our new coaches more. I understand their mentality better.

Saying you don’t want “ANYONE” that Freeze wanted is about the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen on here. Not calling you dumb

Sure. Yeah look at what happened to AU over the past 3 years. We did upgrade our roster but did we really get better? 4th & 32 and Freeze didn't want us to blitz? We heard about the locker room problems & really no discipline. Threats of not playing unless they get money. etc...no thanks. Those are the guys that freeze brought in...so yeah I kind of stand by my statement. No discernment...just go chasing stars...
quote:

What about Air Noland? He has already transferred once and is in the portal again.

What does that say about him? He jump from OSU to the cocks but couldn't break in the starting rotation but is unwilling to stay and compete? No thanks. Take a look at that back up from USF...knows the system and if he wasn't able to compete at the SEC level do yo think this staff would have taken him here at AU?

I really don't want anyone that we went after that HF was high on. I don't think he had them right in the personality dept. Skill level yes but probably not in the head space. Too many games & not enough seriousness.

I know they put in that hard work but I also know they were juiced. Same as another team that dominated with almost no “talent” that used the moniker “Husker Power”. Juiced up.

Many were juiced in the 80's you could go into the old gym and find folks to buy it from in Auburn. It wasn't even a secret. Dudes getting jacked on the juice & you think players were not taking it?

Bosworth?

Many stories when I was there in the 80s

Jackson Arnold was getting over $1 million

He was getting closer to 2 from a chart that I saw along with our 2 WR making about 1.8 mil
quote:

about IU offensive line?

No one is really talking up their D line & the rest of their D. Interesting that their D coordinator has been with Cig for the past 11+ years.

Did you hear about IU players complaining about bringing people in from the portal? Cig said you gotta earn your spot...
quote:

IU WRs are freaking money. no drops

And how many of them did we really know the names of? That team may go down as one of the best teams.

If we are in such penny-pinching mode that we can't afford to give a talented Knight a year trial period

You need to get out more. We offered him over 7 figures to ride the pine.

We are not penny-pinching. None of really know the money these cats are being offered. There is speculation but we are not reading the contracts. It would be interesting to see but we don't. We have talking heads and wanna be talking heads talking like they are in the room while the negotiations are going on but they aren't. So if you know different please show the proof on here.

first QB we got from USF

Heard someone saying he was calling the plays while he was 17 in HS. If true that says a lot about this kid.
quote:

We also have 105 schollys now instead of the previous 85 right?

I think this is a good thing. you can give development kids a chance & it is only a scholly. Then you may have a raw nugget that by Junior season is a full fledged starter in your system. Or allows you to develop an undersized lineman. Yeah they may get a little money at another college but if you are a known developer it can allow you an advantage.
quote:

What's the deal with so many WR? AG sub in units vs having consistent starters?

Have you seen this offense? You have people going deep almost every play. If you want them fresh by the 4th you need to have a rotation. Also I think we had over 10 or more on roster last year. Plus 5 TEs

USF had 15 WRs & 6 TEs
quote:

The Cignetti way is now the same way as everyone else.. buy the best players you can get.

There is something you are missing with him...go take a look at the coaches that have remained with him over the years. His DC has been with him for 11 yrs I believe. He has been running the RPO for years.

He also has a good locker room. He gets the players that buy into locker room & system.

So just buying the best players alone doesn't work..we just fired a guy who thought he was paying for the best but yet how many players followed him? How many left JMU and now USF to follow their coaches...it was the ones that could play in that next league...
Gonna be a long season...may just wait until later in the season to continue watching these games...don't know if my heart can take it...

LOL

Wonder if he could make the jump up to this level?
