re: All NBA defensive pests team

People forget that Tony Allen had a knack for getting his hand in your face without touching you. Kobe talked about it a decade ago that he could guard him 1 on 1 never ask for help and act as a total pest.

I'm actually frustrated because the answer was Jaylen Brown --- because we were one step away from getting him as a return.

While I think shough has potential, there's also that potential he's actually not that good and doesn't progress even though we addressed rb, OL, and hopefully wr this draft.
And if he shows that he ain't it, you want that 1st round and if it land top 10 - potentially a franchise qb. Weirder shite has happened - look at Carolinas situation. Don't be the stupid idiot

Is it just me or these too prospects this year seemingly has a frick ton of negative reports on them

Just another dumb hit piece. He hasn't had the job for a year. We are 11th or 12th in payroll this year. We send right up to the limit every year. We just don't go over for the sake of doing it. We could have literally shed 70M+ in payroll this year and had a better record..
the one thing I absolutely hate is when people quote the "we've never been a tax team".
If we were routine playoff contenders --- yes absolutely call them cheap. Our team fricking sucks, we're 8th in total cap allocation and we're a bottom 10 team (still). You want us to go into the tax for what? To still be shitty? That's just stupid and the people who write that are equally as dumb.
at the end of the day, it is a business. contending teams tend to dip into higher salaries to contend for 1-2 years then abandon ship when they can't win it all.
GSW has been in the tax and the writing is on the wall, they're about to blow it up.
LAC has realized they can't contend, blowing it up.
Phoenix is blowing it up.
Minnesota & Cleveland are 1-2 years away from doing it.

no just a no, but a frick no.
We are not contending this year, what we need to do is similar to the 2017 draft --- accumulate MULTIPLE cheap and value players over the course of the next 2-3 years.
Then if you wanna push all in 2-3 years down the line when you're contending or look to need to make a big push, fine go ahead. but this is year 2 in a rebuild, the answer is no.

I’d still take him over Herb. I love Herb but Dyson is the better player.
Dyson never becomes Dyson on this team.
Willie dog housed him and ruined him IMHO, but his defense was always elite. The issue is willie and his useless rotations and prolonged benching never gave him a shot to grow

I don't think Bey is the elite defender that herb is.
Bey is a solid player, but he's built to defend 3-4 with some 5 part time. Herb can keep up with quick guards, Bey can't.
I think the reality is we need to reset and move on from Murray, Poole, and zion.

re: We need to try to trade Queen if it helps get us a top 20 pick
Posted by htran90 on 4/18/26 at 6:07 pm to LSUPilot07
If we can get a mild version of Sengun out of Queen, I think its the makings of a good duo.
Now yes, Sengun is taller and plays center while Queen is a PF (6'11 vs 6'9) so that's one thing, but their rookie years are rather similar.

Sengun - 19
47.4/24.8/71.1 (TS% 55.2)

-1.5 OBPM, 0.7 DBPM, -0.8 BPM, 0.6 VORP, 15.9 PER

Not unreasonable to think he could be a future 20/10/5 PF

I think downs is a safe pick, but to be a game breaking safety you need to have down field coverage capabilities.
A lock down #1 corner back erases half the field, which if you think that's Delane or McCoy go ahead

too many injury questions to be a top 10 pick IMHO
Would love to move back a few spots if it's possible then take Vega. Idk why he isn't getting as much hype as some of these other guards.
quote:
The blissful ignorance of youth.
he came into the league confident.
he's still confident for sure, even after that disaster of a season for the squad. I think he's got that mentality to be a leader though.
in the 26 games post-ASB:
26.1 MPG
44.5/33.9/75.2 shooting splits
16.5 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 4.2 APG, 2.1 TOV, 1.0 SPG, 0.5 BPG
In the last 10 games (1-9 record lol):
32.0 MPG
47.5/31.1/77.8 shooting splits
23.6 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 4.8 APG, 1.8 TOV, 1.7 SPG, 0.6 BPG
the 3pt shooting needs to pick up, but he's definitely got lead guard potential. he's only 19.5 years old too...

Can I convince Arizona to trade me the 2nd round & future pick for fuaga?
Ask yourself right now of the playoff contenders, who needs a pg or doesn't have a lead guard?
Detroit - Cunningham
Boston - White
New York - Brunson
Cleveland - Mitchell/Harden
Atlanta - Daniels
Toronto - Quickley
Orlando - Bane/Suggs
Philadelphia - Maxey/Edgecombe
Charlotte - Ball
Miami - Herro
- So in the east, you could argue Toronto, Orlando, and Miami may consider it.
OKC - SGA
San Antonio - Fox/castle/harper
Denver - Murray
LA Lakers - Doncic/James
Houston - Sengun/Sheppard/Durant/Thompson
Minnesota - Edwards/Randle/McDaniels
Phoenix - Booker/Green
LA clippers - Garland/Leonard
Portland - Holiday/avdija/henderson
GS - curry/green/butler
- in the west I can reasonably see Houston and Minnesota considering things since none of them have a true pg. Portland may consider since holiday is 35 and has 2/72mil left (2nd year is a PO), but that could be a move to acquire assets - future picks or young talent quo hasn't developed/change of scenery.

If dj can turn queen and his conditioning and post defense into something mediocre, we can make some noise with him on the bench.
We have 4 young guys who need to show immense growth in the next year.
Missi - can he be a true anchor defensively for 25+mpg?
Fears - can he be a 30mpg combo guard who shoots and facilitates well enough?
Matkovich - can he be a 3&D big man?
Queen - can his conditioning be good enough to warrant 20+ mpg as a backup 4 and 5 depending on the lineup?
Poole needs to be moved this off-season.
Murray needs to be moved in a year (for year 3 fears to start).
Jones and Murphy need to be moved to build up assets even though I hate to do it to keep zion.
Bey needs to be retained or traded, he's got value it appears right now. Is he a true 3 or a small ball 4?

Downs is a safe pick, but he's far from a prospect that will be elite and game changing routine all pro caliber IMHO. I think his athleticism flaw is gonna be really apparent when it comes to safety play, but you can't question his football iq and how fluid he plays.
I think it's a really high floor, but a capped ceiling for him. It's honestly how you want to address the draft. Do we swing for fences or do we just go bpa and be safe with high floors

I've concluded a lot of athletes don't comprehend things are two way roads and he elected to be ugly with the city and fans, thus we replied back in kind.
He didn't send a farewell, we didn't give him a tribute. Goes both ways Street clothes

You wanna see a true anchor nt next to him.. I wonder if christen Miller (Georgia) or Lee hunter (Texas tech) would be available in the 2nd? Lots of holes to fix, it's just how we want to address it this year
