second chance wanna-be’s

Well now that isn’t exactly fair. The Ramil kid from Michigan State is a two year starter. Dude played in 11 games and started 8 in the B1G at LT as a redshirt freshman. Then took over as full time starting LT in 2025 before an injury sidelined his season.

The James Madison kid, started all season at LT for a playoff team. Their coach was then hired to be UCLAs coach. He has taken 10 JMU players with him, and absolutely wanted to bring his starting LT who has given up 1 sack in over 1500 snaps.

Best is a top 10 IOL guy in the portal. He can legitimately play OC or OG

I mean the rankings may not be what Auburn expects, but how’s that worked out for us chasing stars since 2017? I care about how they play for Auburn. You don’t have to be an NFL player to be an exceptional college player. And as of right now Auburn is still a “college” team.

So who Fing cares if they are a couple inches shorter than the nfl wants? Who cares if they can’t high jump like the nfl wants? Who cares if their wingspan is an inch or two below nfl minimums?

We need them to excel here at Auburn. What they do after playing for us should be of little concern.

Damn I’m really starting to sound like a sunshine pumper but I certainly am not. I just know this is a new day. This coaching staff has a history of talent evaluation. Not to mention it took until THIS PAST SEASON for the Tennessee offense to recover losing CAG. We have a no nonsense real winner as HC again finally.

Isn’t that bear guy in there somewhere? Or has he now been dropped to depth?

I’ve seen people on here say that Washington is bad at pass blocking so I went digging and looked up PFFs pass blocking effectiveness based on their careers so far and here is what I found.

1. Davenport. Davenport graded highest in pass protection among the RB room. In 2025 at his season-long PFF pass blocking grade was 71.4 with a season high 71.6 in one and season low of 55.4. Golesh emphasizes RB pass pro heavily, and reports highlight the backfield’s effectiveness in protection as a “priority.”

2. Washington. Washington is the most physical and willing protector, with a big jump in 2025. His overall PFF grades hovered around 60 in games, but pass blocking was a weaker spot in some matchups. I couldn’t find a listed high, but his season low was 3.4, though scouting notes call it “not a massive strength” yet serviceable due to his size, leverage, and former safety toughness. He’s often described as the “thunder” back who can stonewall with power, making him a good early-down/third-down option. Upside is high in Golesh’s scheme.

3. Mabson. This was the surprise to me. Mabson was praised by coaches Nix and Freeze in 2025 for looking “good” in pass pro, being “physical enough,” and being “a big part of that pass protection.” As a RSF, he’s shown growth in identifying looks and engaging blockers, especially after stepping up due to roster changes. Very few snaps mean no real PFF data, but his build and willingness suggest he could be a solid contributor.

4. Cobb. Cobb struggles in pass protection due to his lighter frame and emphasis on elusiveness over power. Scouting reports note he “often struggles to stand up blitzers” and “lacks power to anchor,” with effectiveness around 31% in some draft projections. He’s more likely to be subbed out on obvious passing downs, as his game is built on speed and burst rather than blocking.

5. Henderson. Alvin didn’t get any pff blocking stats. He played in 1 game.
I never said or suggested it was a good thing, or something we should do, but it looks like that’s the way it’s headed. I hope not.

But if other schools are going that route, we are going to have to find something to compete with that money or we will absolutely get left behind. And I’m sorry, but War Eagle Mobile ain’t it. I love the idea and will likely sign up if it succeeds, but let’s not pretend that will have us in the same stratosphere as those chasing Wall Street money.

Truth is, something has to be done to put a cap on this crap. There has got to be a cap and very real penalties for going above it or finding back door loopholes to get around it.
These are all YouTube shorts so they are super short videos. I can’t find the video of his that showed part or all of Sam Leavitts LSU deal, but it was this guy who talked about it.

Utah Private Equity

UNLV Private Equity

BigXII Private Equity
I think the way other teams are spending so much is because they are signing deals with private equity firms. Multiple teams are doing it. Pretty sure I saw where LSUs deal with Sam Leavitt was largely paid by private equity.

If others are doing that and we aren’t no wonder we are getting our asses handed to us on the lines
From how I understand it, the school has 25m in total for paying players. Cohen “sold” the 2026 opening game to be played in Atlanta for 5m which gives us the 30m. It isn’t like Deuce had money set aside for him. His money would have come out of the 30m pool which obviously reduces or removes money to be spent on other sports.

I could be wrong, I’ve been wrong before.

Hope he does alright.

I don’t normally hold hard feelings towards these kids transferring but F him. He can eat an extra large bag of dicks for the shite he talked about Auburn after he hit the portal.

I wish Malcom nothing but stone hands and failure. I’d be happy as a possum eating persimmons if he gets buried in the depth chart never took another snap of football.

I hope he chokes on the big ole bag of dicks while he is at it.

Seriously F that dude.
quote:

What does that say about him?

That he didn’t expect $aban to retire thus bringing in Julian Sayin who even Noland knows is better.

He jump from OSU to the cocks but couldn't break in the starting rotation

You think he is competing to take the starting job from Sellars? No, he thought he would transfer to USCe and Sellars would be going to the NFL and he would be looking at starting. Sellars surprised everyone by returning. He also CAN return the year after. Sellars is the paid and established QB1. Do you guys even pay attention to Meta? He has said over and over that when you have an established QB1 in today’s game where he cost you 3.5-5m to lock down, they aren’t having a QB competition. That person is your starter period.

So there are two major surprises that have happened with the teams he has picked. We don’t have that issue. We don’t have a NFL qb coming in. Brown WILL be gone after next season. We will absolutely be looking in the portal again next year for a qb.

quote:

Take a look at that back up from USF...knows the system and if he wasn't able to compete at the SEC level do yo think this staff would have taken him here at AU?

Yeah the kid has potential, but let’s call a spade a spade, he isn’t projected to make it to the NFL. He MAY could, but under no circumstances am I prepared to put all my eggs in 1 basket especially a 3 star that was the 61st rated qb in his class, and rated 1094 in the portal.

Also I find it interesting you bash Noland for not sticking it out to compete with 2 NFL QBs, while you are absolutely fine just handing the keys to the kingdom to some unknown QB who has a famous dad because the coaches think he can. Personally I’d rather sign as much talent as possible and let the best man win. And like him or not, like his decisions or not, Noland is talented.

quote:

I really don't want anyone that we went after that HF was high on. I don't think he had them right in the personality dept. Skill level yes but probably not in the head space. Too many games & not enough seriousness

You do realize we went after ALL the top players in the country under Hugh don’t you? We didn’t get a sniff from some as I’m sure they saw through his nonsense but Hugh was high on every single top 100 player. Now do you really want to abandon top 100 players because our former coach wanted them? If he could have signed the top 100 kids every single year he would have. Saying you don’t want “ANYONE” that Freeze wanted is about the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen on here. Not calling you dumb but that stance sure is. I get it though, wanting a clean break.
Yeah that’s the same.

Noland legitimately has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

I mean if we are just talking shite why not pull Cam Newton and have him threaten the NCAA with a lawsuit filed in Alabama? He technically had two years of eligibility remaining when he went to the NFL.
Not directed at you, you were the last reply.

Anyone know what’s up with the Ohio Stae IOL?

And I’ve not heard his name mentioned, but feels like he could be an excellent choice as QB2… What about Air Noland? He has already transferred once and is in the portal again. He could be QB2 this year and QB1 next. He liked us out of high school … or did that ship sail when ole boy went back to Boston College?
All of them.

I thought everyone knew that.

But let me guess you don’t believe either because im an Auburn fan
I saw that too. If I were them, I’d pay him, keep him on scholarship, and never let him into the locker room.

I’ve seen nothing but people glad he is gone. Calling him deaf and whatnot with his 237 false starts this season.

Are we now considering him a “loss?”
As Weagle25 said, that message was specifically to those who are freaking out saying we are gonna run a 1 lineman 3 TE 6 WR and Brown.

However with respect to your comment. In year 1 with Heupel HC Golesh OC Tennessee had a top 9 offense. Year 2 same coaching staff jumped to the top overall offense in the country. Year 3 Golesh leaves to become HC at USF… Tennessee finished with the #19 ranked offense 1 spot behind mighty UAB and coincidentally 2 spots behind Golesh year 1 at USF.

That part is important. USF had won 4 games in 3 years under Goleshs predecessor, Jeff Scott. And in year 1 he had them with a better offense than Heupel.

Year 4 Tennessee’s offense finishes 15th Year 5 Tennessee finally starts to recover from losing Golesh and finishes 8 in offense while USF finished 3rd.

It took years for Tennessee to recover losing Golesh. And they still haven’t fully. Meanwhile Golesh has had a higher ranked offense than Heupel in 2 of his 3 seasons as a head coach.

We finally have a coach that has an actual history of offensive production and development that the players would run through a brick wall for.

Forgive me if I actually have optimism for the first time since 2017.
Let’s look at Tennessees roster.

2025 16 WR 6 TE
2024 19 WR 7 TE
2023 16 WR 9 TE
2022 13 WR 5 TE
2021 17 WR 7 TE

That is the entire WR/TE roster breakdown for Tennessee since Heupel took over.

I could be wrong, I’ve definitely been wrong before…. But… I don’t know… it almost sounds like Golesh knows what he is doing
quote:

mere speculation.

It’s almost like you guys think Tennessee runs an entirely different offense… They do not.

That is the reason. Not a guess. Well that and every receiver has a very real chance to be thrown to on every play. And they have 2-3 options on the routes depending on the defense. They “run” the routes like our previous receivers would “run” their routes when they expected the ball thrown to them.

after uat put the full court press on him

That wasn’t real was it? I’ve seen multiple reputable people say it was a joke. A bad joke, but a joke.

Unless I missed something which is possible
quote:

ignored him

I don’t believe that for an instant.

More likely is thy met. Golesh offered X Daniels wanted X+X and Golesh said thanks but no thanks. Then told him to look around.

I have zero belief from any of these butt hurt divas saying the new coach ignored him.
To be fair he was probably told to look around. We likely weren’t going to pay him what he thought he was worth for going 0-3 as a starter.
