Baseball is so weird. How on earth did this Ole Miss team get swept by state?

State has a ton of talent and can be a problem any given weekend but I think Bianco is letting the players be themselves at the plate now rather than try and force them into gorilla ball. Great example of this is Dom Decker. Dom was the heart of the Murray State Omaha lineup last year, hitting something stupid like .360 with a ton of RBI but 0 HR. This year he has like 5 HR but as of 3 weeks ago, he was hitting .220 and striking out a ton while trying to play gorilla ball. Today he showed bunt and pulled back for a perfectly executed slash against the shift which is the EXACT kind of thing he did so well at Murray State. 3 weeks ago Bianco would have made him swing for the long ball. Decker is up to like .275 now. The results are a night and day difference and Ole Miss is 7-1 in conference play since.

Looking at LSU's schedule, the road to the postseason looks pretty grim. Rough finish sans SC.
If the question is most explosive, I'd probably go:
QB: Chad Kelly
RB: Dexter McCluster
WR: AJ Brown
WR: Tre Harris
WR: Elijah Moore
TE: Evan Engram

Debated Corral and Kelly. Kelly constantly pushed the ball down field whereas Matt was more conservative in year 2 as a starter (also on a much less talented team)
Depends on how you define success. 9-3 and out of the playoff is not successful for LSU but would be wildly successful for Florida.
I'll never forget watching O go to the coffee machine in the old coaches offices at Ole Miss, open it up, scoop out a wad of spent grinds and throw them in his bottom lip like a dip. The man is just built different than the rest of us.

Judge is a big reason he chose to stay at Ole Miss rather than go to BR with the other coaches.

Kind of an interesting thought. If Simmons doesn't get hurt, Ole Miss probably goes like 8-4 and Lane maybe ends up at Florida or is still at Ole Miss.

He was only given the HC job due to politics.

There weren't many alternatives at the time that moved the needle. We were going to hire Dave Doeren instead which would've been a better hire but not sure Lane happens then.

Why didn’t a sun belt school come knocking Pete Goldings doors down then if he’s so much better?

Because you are retarded

MSU would be smart to just invest big in baseball and let the chips fall where they may in football and basketball.

Seems to be the strategy

What will Ole Miss fans do?

Can't answer for all but I'll be here posting about Florida.
LSU fans may kill themselves if they don't win.
They can turn it around but I was pretty surprised by what I saw out of LSU this weekend in Oxford. They had a player-led on the field meeting for like an hour after the Friday night game just to come out and get run ruled on Saturday. Really surprised by the lack of pitching depth. Ole Miss has really struggled hitting all season but lit their staff up.

"That's baseball" indeed happens. Florida just came off a convincing series win against UGA so they get a little more grace. LSU is making it a habit.

I felt the same way when Ole Miss lost to Memphis then proceeded to get swept by MSU. They've turned the corner, at least temporarily. It's a weird season and still plenty of time for LSU to turn it on.
Can't go .500 with a 9 team conference schedule but the SEC really did them some favors giving them SC, Kentucky, Auburn, Vandy with no Pavia, and Arkansas.

You know it, I know it, ole Miss fans know it, the whole damn world knows it.

And this is the source of their butthurt. They know last year was the one and only chance to sit at the big boy table and they pushed Lane right into our lap. They blew it big time and probably won’t get another opportunity in any of our lifetimes.

Having watched Lane in every big time game he coached in since 2021, there's more evidence that would point towards the moment being too big for him and Ole Miss shitting the bed.

Moreover, Ole Miss lost to Miami because Miami won the LOS on both sides of the ball. Not sure Lane could have helped that. If that's Charlie's fault, then well, congrats on your OC hire.
