Part of the reason Christianity spread initially was Greek influence, not Roman.

Lots of people spoke Greek and had access to a Greek translation of the Old Testament (the Septuagint).

Rome persecuted the early church and didn’t help its spread until Constantine converted.

If you wanna hitch your wagon to an institution that claims the pope is infallible despite being a human then go for it.

Might wanna know that one those popes recently stated that humans are innately good, contradicting the entire need of Jesus’s sacrifice for our redemption from original sin.

His successor also blessed a literal block of ice in the name of climate change.
