NYC Restaurant Recs for Group

I know NYC restaurant posts come up all the time here, and I've read several, but I'm looking for any places that would specifically be good for a group of 7. Nowhere extremely uppity, though we are planning on one nice dinner. We're not exactly foodies either, but we do love good food.

I just know dining in some places in NYC with a group of 7 can prove to be difficult, so if you know of anywhere that would be accommodating, I'd appreciate it!

Anyone know if Academy or Dicks or anywhere else has World Series gear today? Dicks website says no, but Academy doesn't have the inventory search option. Just wondering if I can pick stuff up after work or order online.

Apparently they're "temporarily closed" according to their website. Anyone know why? A quick Google search gave me nothing but articles on a 2011 fire at a different location.

Jackson Street BBQ is right next to the stadium... they have a kiosk inside by the Crawford Boxes too. The BBQ is on point.

Just saw this place (off Government St) on Waitr today. Never heard of it before, but the food looks good and it gets pretty high praise on Google. What say you, F&D baws?

Movie Being Filmed Downtown

From the looks, there is a small scale movie being filmed, as of this posting, in front of the capitol on Spanish Town Road. Anyone know what it is? A Google searched gave me nothing.

At the risk of getting lambasted by the lovely FDB patrons for asking about a chain restaurant, does anyone have an opinion on Cheddar's in Lafayette? Chain-wise is it decent?

And while we're at it, any similar local spots with good steak or seafood?

I noticed that in a span of about 2 days, Wendy's had closed down, removed all signage,put black plastic over the windows, and the roof was altered as to not resemble a Wendy's.

Anyone know what happened? I'm getting a real bad "someone got murdered" or "rat poop found in Chili" vibe.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and there's a "For Lease" sign on the front....

The Chili's on College Drive is a joke - especially the To-Go service. Waiting 45 minutes in line for food that was ordered before you got there is outrageous.

And yes, their menu is getting a little - um - weird. Pizza? Really?

I'm a little new to the area (~ 1 year) and saw online that there use to be a TGI Friday's on Essen Lane, seemingly where Gatti's is now. What happened to it besides the obvious fact that it closed down? Bad service? No business? Corporate down-sizing?

The construction by Acme on Perkins Rd... what is it? The construction view from I-10 appears to be a shopping strip of some kind. Does anyone know?

Yeah sorry...seasons 6 & 7 then. For some reason I always think it was 8 seasons (maybe because 2 terms is 8 years? Idk).

Seasons 1-4 are stellar. The season finales are often among the best on TV.

After Sorkin left, its quality did so too. Season 8 was the worse, imo, followed by season 7. Some of the core characters began leaving their original WH posts and it all got way to unfamiliar.

I think they spend wayyy to much time on things that Sorkin definitely would've handled differently in 7 & 8.

That being said, don't watch 5-8 with a negative mindset - its still good TV!

I forgot about John Goodman - I just think they made his character too - idk... harsh maybe? They tried to make him look like the bad guy sometimes I thought.

But on Santos, he's one of the reasons I didn't like the last season. The West Wing became the B story line as all they began to focus on was the campaign. There WORST episodes are the ones where CJ and POTUS were not shown at all!

Ah yes Ainsley... I LOVED her... I guess I thought if her more as just a guest character...

But among guests, Ainsley, Fitz and Lily Tomlin would have to rank very high!
