Get in on speaking at business events and give stats in how fit employees are more productive and happier. Business people love statistics that suggest they'll make more money. O&G, accounting/finance, and software development companies are all interested in fitness.
Also - a lot of health insurance companies offer members discounts on gym memberships and fitness products/services. That's another good industry to network with.

Depends on where you live and what industry you're in.
If you're new somewhere, find organizations in your industry and ask around work about what people are in. If you're in school, absolutely go to every networking event you can go to. Getting your name out there and making connections will help you land a job.
Getting a job is absolutely about who you know. Whether or not you keep that job and your managers/coworkers recommend you is based on how you work, but you can't prove anything without getting your foot in the door.

Wedding's are pretty intimate. Accecpted social etiquette would expect you to go alone unless you were seriously dating someone.
Blind dates for weddings = no. Give yourself the chance to hang out with all the single ladies there. It's the politie thing to do.

Thanks for the advice.
I would like to be on the Northshore and work for a corporate office. Those are my two most significant requirements. I have valid experience and I'm more adaptable and able to learn than most (from what I've been told), so I'm hoping I can find something. I'm just very new into my career, and I don't necessarily have a focus on any particular industry - just a focus on accounting and finance. I'll see what happens.

re: Anyone know who's hiring a controller at a Mandeville restaurant?

There's a margin of error when using computer programs as far as truly reflecting the state of the business goes.
Plus, most operations people do not have the time to gather all the necessary data from different sources needed to truly reflect the financial state of their business. That's where a controller or other accounting/finance person comes in. They're able to look at trends to create forecasts and budgets, and it allows the operations people to focus on operations and making money.

The listing is titled "Financial Controller."
Also - for all intents and purposes, comptroller and controller are the same position, though comptroller is a term used more frequently in government and non profit organizations.

Apparently, though it must be a pretty busy restaurant or there are multiple restaurants this person will work with.
Essentially, a controller deals with creating financial reports, analyzing them, presenting them to management, and filing taxes as required.

This is a long shot - wondering which restaurant in Mandeville, LA is hiring a controller since the listing has the company as confidential.
I don't want to submit my resume without knowing which restaurant it is, and I unfortunately don't know enough people in the area to ask about it.
ETA - Financial Controller.

Play outside. That's what my dad always did with me, and I very fortunately don't have daddy issues and have consistently been in healthy relationships with men my own age.
Also, it helped me enjoy the outdoors, like hiking, fishing, biking, camping, ect. I'm so thankful my dad did those things with me. Definitely helped me become a more well rounded individual.

Truth.
"The State of the Union Address: where the policies are made up and Congressmen clap based on who they want to vote for them in the next election"
It's a long title - though I think it covers the meat of the Address.

Indeed.com
Also - look into HSE if you really want an office job or something that can lead to it. Columbia Southern does an online masters in occupational safety, and you can sit for an ASP and then CSP following that.
There are a few safety training places in Lafayette, also. Training places may take someone with little to no safety experience and train them. May want to check out their websites for job openings.

Great questions. Also, at the end of the interview, ask if they have any hesitations about hiring you and address them on the spot. Shows that you can accept criticism in real time, and it'll help you clarify anything they may have misunderstood.
You're in academia. Everyone knows it's been rough for y'all, so don't worry too much about not working for the last few months. Just talk about how, though you were in an unfortunate situation, you continued to learn.
Good luck!

They are going to ask you what have you been doing while you have not been working. Don' t just tell them 'looking for a job'. They are looking for continued education or some type of professional growth.
Solid advice.
Knowing what job/industry you're in would help.
Nah. Cheating isn't part of a good marriage.
One example, root case being communication - husband/wife gets fat after marriage. Skinny SO is no longer attacted to him/her, so sex life suffers. Skinny party thinks fat party doesn't care. Truth is, fat party is going through a life change - adjusting to marriage, working full time, ect. If they don't talk about it, skinny party may cheat based on thinking fat party doesn't care. If they talk, they could figure out a constructive way to support one another and spend time together - maybe take daily walks together or something. They grow closer and solve the at problem.
You have to take time to get things in the open and speak honestly. If you can't be honest with your SO, you aren't being your best.

If you're interested, read "Crucial Conversations." Great book giving you diologue tools for personal and professional life. Based on 20 years of great research.
Most marriage counselors and leadership coaches recommend it.

Not personally.
Been a spectator to it like you. Research shows a lack of good, quality communication typically leads to it.
Learning how to tell your husband or wife you're unhappy in a constructive way is really difficult. It's easier to start something with someone else who may not present those problems at the beginning of the relationship. If communication isn't good with any party, problems will still occur and it won't be better - just different.

Didn't even know Palmetto had a facility.
Yeah - Palmetto will clean him up. Something clean about the air there. It can change you even if you're not on drugs.

Depends on his age and how much you're willing to spend.
If he's still in high school or just getting to college and he's involved in hard drugs, there are some great options out of state. Places in the country where the rehab center is on a ranch have extremely positive results. You don't have to go through a religious organization, though you can.
Either way, you're doing a great thing by helping him if he really needs it. The people I know who got help are doing very well professionally, and they have been able to use their experience to strengthen their work ethic and ability to adapt to change. Good luck

re: In your honest opinion, how does LSU's campus compare to other SEC campuses?
Posted by LSU0812 on 9/24/14 at 10:31 am to BAMAisDIESEL09
Bama had few accommodation options. Auburn has a beautiful state park nearby that I really like. The others also have valuable accommodations for me, which is why I didn't rank Bama higher.
The stadium does look great, and I like the bar area. Maybe next time I'll find better accommodations.
For what it's worth - as alumni, we shouldn't act like we're just "fans." I did choose LSU for educational purposes, not simply for football, and I think every school has something to offer, especially when it comes to having unique traditions. Thanks for having more respect in your latest message.

I actually liked Alabama, especially the stadium, and met some nice Alabama fans.
Did you actually go to school there? Not very becoming of you to be so rude. I would expect better from an alumnus.

Been to all SEC West campuses/stadiums plus Florida and Georgia. Of those, my ranking is:
Georgia
LSU
Auburn
Florida
Arkansas
Mississippi State
Alabama
Ole Miss
A&M
Rating is based on how close bars are to the stadium, the stadium itself, fans, and overall architecture and landscaping of each campus.
ETA: please note the only SEC East schools I have been to are FL and GA. I don't know about the others and therefore don't have a valid opinion.

Solid. I am impressed.
I mean the list is solid and I'm impressed you have an informed view - something uncommon.
I don't necessarily agree. Just glad you have something to back up your opinion.

Particularly Bill Cassidy as he campaigns. Someone needs to give that uptight dude a beer.
He's way cooler in real life than he seems on his promos. Wish he'd use it, because Mary at least seems more personable in her ads. Oh, the irony, since reality is the opposite.
